Chapter 30: Your Future Is...

Zabuza refuses to believe Kakashi's cockiness about this battle. Kakashi tells him that its over, there is no more hope for him. Kakashi explains that Zabuza's ambitions were too great. After a failed attempt at killing the Mizukage (Leader of the Village Hidden in the Mist) he left and became a missing-nin. His need for money and refuge from Hunter-nin is probably what cause him to turn to scum like Gatou. Kakashi performed a number of hand seals. Lightning shaped chakra surged around his body, and, while gripping his wrist, lightning composed chakra surrounded his right hand. He called it "Lighning Edge." Zabuza was astonished that there was enough chakra to be seen visibly. Kakashi says he must stop Zabuza, in order to save Tazuna, in order to save this country. Kakashi says Zabuza needs to get his priorities strait, he is too selfish. Zabuza disregards this and refuses to surrender.

Haku asks Naruto to kill him fast. Naruto doesn't understand why being strong is everything to Haku. He could surely be acknowledged for something other than fighting. Haku asks, if they are so alike, why Naruto can't understand, and apologizes that he will have to get violent. Naruto asks if this is the only way, only to here Haku say it is. A pissed off Naruto grabs a kunai from his pouch. He explains that Sasuke had a dream too. He wishes that they had met somewhere else, maybe they could have become friends.

Tazuna notices the mist clearing up. Sakura can notice two figures staring each other down from across the mist. They don't know who is who, but they can tell one is moving. It is Naruto dashing at Haku with his kunai raised, but right before he delivers the blow, something stops him. It is Haku, who is surprisingly still putting up a fight. He blocks Naruto's punch, and apologizes to him agian, but he can't die yet. Haku disappears once again.

Zabuza watches in disbelief as Kakashi runs toward him with incredible speed. The force of his chakra is ripping up the ground as he passes it. Kakashi lands his electrified punch. Sakura and Tazuna hear a loud impact, but don't know what happened. Blood is spilled, but whose? Kakashi's dogs disappear, leaving a scroll with a needle in it on the ground. When the smoke clears, Haku is standing in between Kakashi and Zabuza, with Kakashi's fist going right through his chest.

Everybody, including Kakashi is horrified. Haku cries out Zabuza's name, but all Zabuza can do is mock Kakashi for being wrong about his death again.

Chapter 31: Their Own Battles...

Back in town, Inari knocks on Giichi's asking him to come help fight Gatou's men at the bridge. Giichi says he doesn't want to fight anymore. They remind Inari of his father, and how they don't want to fight anymore, they don't want to lose anything else. Inari remembers the words Kaiza told him about protecting what is precious to him, and having no regrets. Inari tells Giichi he loves everyone in this city, including him, and if he wants to protect them, he can not sit around and cry about it. Then Inari leaves. A woman in the house commends Inari for growing up, and asks Giichi if he is really going to let Inari go on his own.

Back at Tazuna's house, Tsunami tells Inari he can't go by himself. Inari explains that nobody else in the city will come. He leaves with a smile on his face, proclaiming that he is his fathers son, and knows what it means to fight!

Naruto is left pondering where Haku disappeared to. The mist began to clear. He sees a bunch of figures across the bridge, and dashes over to them. Everybody is surprised by the situation with Haku. Zabuza commends Haku for a job well done. Kakashi can't believe Haku jumped in front of him. Kakashi noticed that Haku has already died from the attack, and Zabuza (who was preparing his sword) was planning on cutting through both of them.

Zabuza remembers little Haku asking to be his tool, and proclaims he picked up something very useful to help him get this chance. Kakashi moves himself and Haku's dead body out of the way of Zabuza's swing. All Zabuza can do is laugh. Naruto is disgusted, but Kakashi tells him to stay where he is. He closes Haku's eyes and proclaims that this is his fight. Sakura is happy to see Naruto alive. She asks about Sasuke, but all he can do is shake his head.

Zabuza dashes at Kakashi telling him that this is no time for sight seeing. Kakashi catches him with a kick to the chest. Tazuna runs with Sakura across the bridge past Naruto. She approaches Sasuke's body, kneeling over it in disbelief. Tazuna can't bear to look. Sakura realizes this is no illusion. Tazuna tells her to cry all she wants. She explains that she always scored perfectly on tests back in school. One day a question appeared to her saying " Write down shinobi saying #25." She said she did of course. It said that a shinobi must keep their emotions inside at all times. Never cry. As she recited this, she was crying terribly. Tazuna thought to himself that this was way too harsh.

Zabuza couldn't figure out why he couldn't keep up with Kakashi. He dashed at him again, only to be punched in the face. He swung his sword at him, only to realize Kakashi was right behind him. Kakashi explained that there is no way Zabuza can win as he is.

Chapter 32: A Tool Called "Shinobi"

Whipping out two kunai, Kakashi jabs them at Zabuza, bidding him farewell. Zabuza surprisingly swings his sword again, catching Kakashi off guard. Kakashi stopped it, slamming his arm into Zabuza's. The sword flew across the ground. Both their arms were now useless, preventing them from using seals. All of a sudden, Gatou approaches with a militia of men, taunting Zabuza for getting beat. Zabuza asks about all these men. Gatou explains that this has been part of the plan all along. He plans on killing Zabuza, without paying him.

Gatou explains that hiring local ninja can be a hassle, so he gets missing-nins like Zabuza, who are easy to take care of afterwards. The only problem, he says, is him. Gatou starts to make jokes about Zabuza's "devil" nickname. Naruto is worried about the shear number of enemies. Kakashi and Zabuza both agree that there is no more reason for them to fight, both looking at the mass of enemies approaching.

Gatou approaches Haku's body, still upset about Haku breaking his arm. He shamelessly kicks Haku's dead body, forcing Naruto to speak up. Naruto runs after him, but Kakashi stops him. Naruto asks Zabuza why he doesn't speak up for Haku. Zabuza explains that he used Haku like Gatou used him. Shinobi are just tools, and he has no regrets. Naruto can't believe it, but Kakashi tells Naruto to stop. They aren't fighting him anymore but- Naruto runs after Zabuza, still calling him the enemy. He tells Zabuza that Haku really loved him. Gatou is now confused.

Naruto remembers Haku's words in the forest. Naruto asks how Zabuza can become that way, and in tears, asks if he will really be like that when he becomes a real shinobi. Naruto tells Zabuza that Haku threw away his own dreams, to protect Zabuza as a tool. Zabuza tells Naruto he has said enough. He was actually crying... Zabuza explained that Haku never wanted to fight them, he fought for them just as much as Zabuza.

Zabuza is happy to have faced them. He tells Naruto that he is right. Zabuza explains that shinobi are still people too, and then asks to borrow Naruto's kunai. Zabuza pulls back the mask over his mouth, revealing shark like teeth. He caught Naruto's kunai in his mouth, and dashed for Gatou.

Gatou ran back to the men, telling them to kill all. They asked Zabuza how he though he could possibly win. As he approached, the men saw the shape of a devil above Zabuza in the mist. Gatou hides behind all of them. Zabuza barrels through the men, receiving some bad wounds, but killing any man he comes in contact with. He makes his way to Gatou. Gatou if he plans to go with Haku, but Zabuza tells Gatou that he will be going with him, to hell. He says he is excited to spend time in hell with Gatou, as a real devil.

Zabuza decapitates Gatou. He is covered with weapons piercing his skin. One last time, he says thanks to Haku, and goodbye...

Chapter 33: The Bridge of Heroes

Kakashi tells Naruto not to turn away. He must witness the death of Zabuza, a man who lived a very rough life. Somebody hears crying. They ask them self if they died. It is Sasuke; he is alive! He apparently doesn't fully remember what happened, and asks Sakura what is wrong. Sakura bursts out in excitement and tears when she hears him speak. He wants to know what happened to Naruto and Haku. She tells him Naruto is fine, but Haku is dead. Sasuke can't believe Naruto won, but Sakura tells him that Haku only died because he protected Zabuza.

Sakura is impressed that Sasuke was able to avoid being hit in vital areas, but Sasuke knows that Haku never wanted to kill him from the beginning. Naruto rushes over, and when he hears that Sasuke is alive, he begins to tear up. Naruto remembers Zabuza's praising words of Haku, and he too realizes Haku never had the intent to kill. Kakashi is also relieved to see that Sasuke is alright, but that is ended when Gatou's remaining men call for their attention. They claim they will kill them all and pillage the village for killing their source of pay.

The militia of men charge. Kakashi is bad. He explains that after all the big jutsu he used on Zabuza, he doesn't have much anything left for these guys. Just before they get to the Leaf Ninja, the whole village appears behind them, with Inari leading the group. They are there to protect Kakashi and his team. Inari reminds Naruto that a hero shows up last minute.

Naruto adds to the numbers by creating a bunch of shadow clones. Kakashi decides he will try to, hopefully to fool them. Kakashi, however, makes a whole army of shadow clones. Afraid of the new mass of opponents, Gatou's men flee in the opposite direction. Zabuza, lying on the ground with little life left in him, tells Kakashi that its finally over. Zabuza makes one final request. He wants to see Haku's face. As Kakashi picks him up to take him over to Haku's body, it begins to snow.

Zabuza sees this, and asks Haku if he is crying. Zabuza thanks Kakashi as he lays him by Haku's side. As one last request, Zabuza says he'd like to go to the same place as Haku. As they lat there side by side in the end, Naruto (crying) remembers that Haku is from a snowy village. Kakashi admits that his heart is as pure as the snow itself. He knows that Zabuza will be able to see Haku on the other side.

Two weeks later, the team buries Zabuza and Haku together under a tree, with Zabuza's sword sticking out of the ground. Naruto wants to know if their philosophy on ninjas was correct. Kakashi admits that shinobi are suppose to be tools of the village, in Konoha too. Naruto admits he does not like that ideal. Sasuke asks if Kakashi follows that rule. He explains that every ninja must face that in their own way, including the two they just faced. Naruto proclaims he will be a ninja his own way.

Tazuna is sad about the situation, but explains that he has finally finished the bridge. Kakashi says they will visit again, pleasing Inari. Naruto tells Inari to cry if he is sad, only to hear the same advise returned to him. As Naruto turns away, he, as well as Inari are crying hysterically. Tazuna explains that by changing Inari's heart, Naruto changed the heart of the people, giving them all the courage to stand. They decide to name the bridge "The Great Naruto Bridge." On the way back, the team returns to their normal ways. Naruto talks of ramen, Sakura asks out Sasuke, he turns her down, and Naruto gets jealous.

Inari knows that the name of this bridge will one day be known throughout the world...

chapter 34: intruders!?

naruto wakes up anticipating an awesome mission. he meets up with sasuke and sakura and they wait for kakashi for 3 hours. when he finally shows up, naruto begs for a harder mission, thinking that it will finally be the day where he can be the one who has to protect sasuke. when the mission is completed, team 7 returns with sakura helping a beat up naruto to walk complaining that he pushed himself too hard. naruto and sasuke then start arguing and sakura complains that it's worse than before. kakashi says that he has to go file the mission report and sasuke decides to go home. sakura takes this opportunity to ask sasuke if he wanted to work on teamwork with her. but sasuke *being a big chicken butt head* says that she is the same as naruto and even worse than naruto. sakura sulks because she realizes how true sasuke's words were and naruto annoys her more by asking her to train with him. kakashi then disappears and naruto and sakura are alone. then naruto notices a rectangular thing following him. the rectangle (which is supposed to be a rock) follows naruto when he walks . naruto shout at the object saying that the disguise is terrible and that he can see right through it. konohamaru and his gang craws out from underneath the object and he shouts that naruto is his rival. naruto notices that they're all wearing goggles and asks them why. Konohamaru says that they are coping the old naruto . they ask naruto if he is free but naruto says that he is training. the gang complains that naruto promised to play ninja with them and sakura (still sulking) asks why a ninja would play ninja. konohamaru then notices sakura and thinks she is naruto's girlfriend. he compliments naruto and naruto says that he is very perceptive. Sakura gets mad and punches naruto. the scene switches to kakashi with the other jonins in what appears to be a mission reception room. He talks to iruka about naruto and his improvement. it returns to naruto and sakura is stalking off really mad. konohamaru asks if sakura is really a girl which makes her stop in her tracks. she comes back and chases the 4 of them even madder. konohamaru bumps into the 2 older sand siblings the scene goes to the other teams as they see a hawk (?) flying over their heads. kankaro gets annoyed and picks konohamaru up and temari tells him to stop. sakura apologizes and naruto starts shouting. kankaro suggests they "play a little before the boss comes". naruto runs at him but kankuro easily trips him. the scene switches to the hokage's place where all the jonins are gathered. the hokage says that the purpose of this meeting should be obvious by who is here. kakashi whines that it's already time and someone else asks when it is. the hokage says that in 7 days he will properly announce it he says that "on the first day of the seventh moon...the chunnin exams will commence".

Chapter 35: Iruka vs. Kakashi!?

Sakura and Konohamaru's shout in concern for him. Konohamaru asks for Kankuro to let him down. All of a sudden, Naruto threatens Kankuro to let Konohamaru or he'll pay. Neither Kankuro nor Sakura were impressed, with Sakura actually putting him in a head-lock. Kankuro explains that he hates short people, especially loud ones, enough to actually kill them. The leaf gang is shocked, but it doesn't even faze the female Sand-nin with Kankuro (Temari). Naruto can't stand it, but Sakura realizes this might be out of Naruto's hands.

After hearing Kankuro insult him, Naruto makes a mad dash for him. Kankuro starts his punch at Konohamaru, only to be nailed in the head with a rock, dropping Konohamaru before he can land it. It was Sasuke perched in a tree. He asks why they are in the Leaf Village. Sakura goes bonkers at the sight of him, while Temari thinks to herself that Sasuke is very handsome.

In the Hokage's office, Sarutobi calls forth the three Jonin in charge of the new Genin; Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai. He asks them if they would like to submit any of their students in the Chuunin Exam. This is a big deal because it is highly unusual for a brand new Genin to participate in the Chuunin Exams. He explains that as long as they have successfully completed 8 missions, their sensei is allowed to submit them to the exams, but completing more missions than that first, is common.

He announces their teams and they all tell him that they would like to submit all of their students. Iruka is astonished and asks to put a word in. He explains that they were all students of his, and he feels it is too early, and too dangerous for them to take the test. Kakashi explains that he became a Chuunin when he was only 6 years old, but Iruka exclaims that Naruto is not of the same caliber as Kakashi was. Kakashi jokes that they argue about the ease of their missions, so crushing them might be good. Iruka can't believe what he is hearing. Kakashi tries to sympathize with Iruka. Kurenai tries to butt in, but Kakashi stops her, and explains that they are no longer Iruka's students, but his "soldiers."

Back outside, Kankuro is upset with another "guy who pisses me (him) off." Sasuke very calmy tells him to beat it, making Sakura exclaim his coolness out loud, and Konohamaru to taunt Naruto. He hates how Sasuke always makes him look bad. Kankuro asks Sasuke to come down from the tree, only to hear Sasuke's reason for hating him. Kankuro pulls a bandage rapped figure called Kuraso off his back. Temari is surprised that he is bringing it out.

Somebody, catching Sasuke off guard, tells Kankuro to give it a rest. It is another Sand ninja standing upside down on a branch above Sasuke. He has dark marks around his eyes, and an gourd on his back. Everybody on the ground, including the two sand ninja, are afraid at the sight of him. He tells Kankuro that he is a disgrace. Sasuke remarks that he has the same level of sneakiness as Kakashi. He starts to yell at Kankuro again when Kankuro tells him (Gaara) that it wasn't his fault. Gaara immediately tells Kankuro he will kill him if he doesn't shut up. Kankuro is struck with fear, apologizing several times.

Sasuke takes note that this guy is their leader. At the same time, Gaara is impressed that Sasuke was able to hit Kankuro with a stone, thinking he must be pretty good. All of a sudden, Gaara teleports, surrounded by sand, to the ground by Gaara. He tells them they mustn't play around. Before they leave, Sakura takes note that they are from the Sand Village, and states that Shinobi are not allowed to enter other villages without permission. She asks them to state their purpose, or they she might make them leave. Temari tells Sakura that she is right, they are from the Sand Village, and they are hear to take the Chuunin Exams. Naruto has no clue what that is. Temari explains that it is a test that outstanding Genin from the Leaf and other surrounding villages take to become Chuunin. Naruto asks why they must take it together. She explains that it is first to keep good relations, and second to maintain a power balance between the nations. Naruto is excited to hear this, and wants to partake.

Without warning, Sasuke appears in front of everyone, asking one of them to state their name. Excited, Tamari asks if he is talking to her, but he is asking their leader. Gaara tells him his name, and explains that he is also interested in Sasuke, asking his name as well. They stare each other down with admiration, only to be interrupted by Naruto, asking if anybody cares for him. Gaara doesn't care, and leaves with the other two. Sasuke is excited about the visitors, while Konohamaru explains to Naruto that he is weak compared to Sasuke.

Up in a tree, three unknown ninja watch. One covered in bandages, and two with dark hair. One of them asks what the other thinks. The one covered in bandages says they better keep an eye on Sasuke and Gaara.

Man it's been a while. I think i'll start this up again this weekend.
