- props to the director of this episode, the extra scenes added were actually made the story even better than what was presented in the manga. The Shikamaru mourning scenes were superb and believable; if only the rest of Naruto Shippuden episodes could be done so well.
Shikamaru informs Kurenai of the sad news and a funeral is held for Asuma. After mourning for his sensei, Shikamaru formulates a plan to avenge Asuma’s death. Ino and Choji are ready to follow Shikamaru’s plan to go after Hidan and Kakuzu, but are stopped at the gate by Tsunade. However, Kakashi arrives and convinces Tsunade to let them go because he will be with them.

Seems to me that we have a new painting style.
But I dont know what I have to think about it.
Another awesome episode. This one was more…idk, artistic in it’s presentation? Showed lots of emotion. Keep ‘em coming!
But they catch the angry, sadness and desperation very well.
Especial on Kuranei and Shikamaru.
I haven´t saw so many people cry, even at 3rd death.

Yes, they did capture the raw emotions very well, the Kurenai scene was the most captivating. I guess Kakashi’s injury is when he tried his rasengan against Naruto’s rasenshuriken. I can’t wait to see it, seriously.
yeah i like this art style alot anyone know what its called or if it even has a name haha its the same as the second half of the naruto sasuke fight which also looks bad ass. i wish they did them all like this. but yeah next few eps will be awesome.

Seems to be a one time art style episode, because as you can see in the preview, they return to the old art style. Probably we will see this art style at Jirayas death.
Awesome episode. I’m speechless. I loved how they used this art style (it remind me a little on Akira drowning),that style is what brought me to japanese anima in the first place.
And I like how they drown Shikamaru…he look bad ass in the scene when he was making tactics against Akatsuki.
I’m hoping that this was just a test how would viewers react and that they will (after good feedback) continue to drowning episodes in this style.

Honestly, the drawing style wasn’t all that great… I can’t say there isn’t an improvement, but I still think that there’s space for it… plus there’s gonna be a return to the old drawing style, this was used ‘coz it was a SPECIAL episode (funeral ‘n stuff) … I still think Bleach beats Naruto in animation by a landslide, dunno why, but I think the guys that animate Naruto are doing the job just to get it done… there’s no motivation backing them whatsoever, that’s why…atleast to me, the animation ain’t all that great… It ain’t even as good as the Pre-Shippuuden series…
I love the new style, it makes me feel so sad for shikamaru, they better do this style for jiraiya’s death, Also konohamaru got a curse on himself, like everyone is dying in his family. I believe that more people cried for asuma than 3rd hokage because asuma never got to live life to the fullest, never got to marry kurenai, never could raise his own kid. Thank god Hidan is rotting in that stinkin hole

It was very cool and emotional. Too bad that for censorship reasons we cannot see Shikamaru smoking like in the manga.
it had very good animation unlike some of the others that did not pay tribute to the manga. because they looked cheaply made.

Very well done it made me cry as well. I like the art style of this episode. I think this style of drawing is much easier for the animators becus it’s doesn’t have much line. Plus it makes the fight scene in a quicker and more beautiful past. I also like that fact that they didn’t make shikamaru smoke and instead holding asuma smoke ligher. Becuz I’m a non-smoker and I have a 12yrs old sister watching the show. It would be bad if they start telling kid to smoke cuz their favorite ninja smokes too, right. And this show is going to be dub here in the U.S. so american audiance well not like smoking for a kids show.
i really want to see pains fight with jiriaya and when he dies and has the flashback about naruto’s parents.

I’m excited too,but ,if my calculation is right,it will need more than 60 or 70 episodes(or in years 2-3 years).
This is how I put 2 and 2:
So far there is 82 episodes and we pass over 86 manga chapters(245-331) but number of real episodes is just 66 … rest are the fillers.
Sasuke and Itachi fight begin at ch 384,so we have to wait only 53 manga ch,but there is so much space for the Pierrot studio to make fillers ep(Shikamaru and the gang vs. Akatsuki,Sasuke vs. Orochimaru,Sasuke vs.Deidara,Jiraya vs.Pein ).We don’t know nothing about Deidra’s life,than there is the time when 3 sannin was in the rain country(fillers about jiraya and pein life)….they can make bunch of fillers if you know what I mean.I’m afraid that they will use this opportunity to make more money.
It seems that we will grow old with Naruto.
I agree there are still a lot of space to fill in the fillers but hopefully they put in useful filler instead of useless one. The manga happen to quick only 17 pages, once a week sometime two, and the anime runs about 2 or 3 manga issue in one episode. That is the reason for those awful fillers just to drag on. You are right “eighthokage” it does seem like we’ll grow old with Naruto. But then again didn’t we all grew up with DBZ. My only concern is that if it drags on too long we’ll all grow out of Naruto.

They’ve done an awsome job dubbing the series it’s now just as funny as the original jap version. The series not getting good rating, no thanks to 4kidz crappy dub so please support the show, buy the dvd. I love One Piece just as much as Naruto and I bought mine already. Thank you.

Kurenai loked like a zomby …the first time when she appeared in this eppisode shi freaked me out..anyway this was a sad litle episodeand the shogi game shika vs his dad was the lamest i ever saw..ok later
