Shikamaru and the others are confused by how Asuma was also burned by the fire jutsu he attacked Hidan with. Hidan reveals that Asuma and his body are now connected so that whatever damage occurs to one of them will also be inflicted on the other person. Shikamaru binds Hidan using shadow sewing and figures out that Hidan needs to be inside his ritualistic circle for his technique to work. After dagging Hidan out of his circle, Asuma is able to decapitate him.
Even so, Hidan’s head is still able to talk and he begs Kakuzu to help him out. Kakuzu sews Hidan’s head back to his body and tells him to take care of Asuma while he takes on the other Leaf ninja. Hidan readies to stabs himself through the heart to kill Asuma. Kotetsu and Izumo are trapped by Kakuzu’s tendril, and Shikamaru is too exhausted to come to Asuma’s aid in time. Hidan pierces his own heart inside his ritual circle, killing Asuma in the process.

This was an awesome chapter but makes me very sad. I dont wanna see Jiraya die like this. Hidan is the craziest type in this naruverse.
Why the other dont support Asuma while he fight against Hidan. They have some distance jutsus and can fight without let the guard down. They can protect Shikamaru and help Asuma.
Kakuzu seems to be super strong, cant wait to see Naruto fight against him. And how can he hit him with his super speed.
Shikamaru develop well and I want to see his shadow blade and to see his final against Hidan.
But he have to work on his stamina.
I feel for Shikamaru. It must be really hard to see that all efforts were of no use… and he was not able to save his sensei.
I was just thinking: Tsunade and his deceased boyfriend Dan advocated to have medic-nins on teams sent on missions. The Sandaime thought of this proposal as a good one, though it wasn’t feasible back then. Why didn’t Tsunade pushed for this one now that she is the Kage? If a medic was with Asuma’s team during the fight, Asuma wouldn’t die just like that.
Too late for this but it just crossed my mind. ^^
P.S. Hidan has a really colorful vocabulary.
this was an good episode despite the fact that asuma died….. but i was a litle pised of by hidan
I gotta say, this was one of the best episodes. You could feel for asuma and shikamaru cause u knew what was going to happen. Hidan was something else. Always wanted to see him is his ritual state

I loved this episode!
I do think that it was a little retarded that the others didnt really help shika or asuma out. Shame on them! But now asuma is dead (mini yay since i have been waiting for this.) I kinda agree with chaos on ths matter. But atleast soon we will see some awesome Shikamaru vs Hidan Action and the rasenshuriken soon!

These two who were protecting Shika weren’t the best of the best.One of them would be nothing for Kakuzu on his own.And as you saw even together they are useless do you think that if they gave Kakuzu the chance he wouldn’t have take it?If they helped the , Shika and themselves would be dead.
They all would die in the next chapter if pein dont call they back.
