Naruto Manga Chapter 418: I Know Frog Fu

Ahhh… finally, some real progress in the story. Naruto makes a breakthrough in his training and masters the ability of gathering nature’s energy without any special oil. Fukasaku is very pleased since Naruto exceeded all his expectations. Jiraiya would also be proud to see that his student has grown so strong, breaking his own records by miles.
It’s really amazing to have seen Naruto gain so much power within such a small period of time. But the question remains: is Naruto strong enough to take on Sasuke or even Pein? So far, we know that Senjutsu can make a person super strong and super tough. This can help Naruto last longer in a fight and increases his chances of landing a direct rasengan on an opponent by merely shaking off all counter attacks. Yet, Naruto’s major weaknesses still remain. He hasn’t done any training to improve his speed – having all that power is meaningless if you can’t match your opponent’s speed and hit him. The other is his weakness against genjutsu. Jiraiya has taught Naruto some countermeasures against genjutsu, but there’s no way Naruto can stand up to something from someone of Sasuke or Pein’s calibre.
However, Naruto does have some more cards to play. Fukasaku has taught Naruto Kawazu Kumite (or as the translators dub it: Frog-Fu), a fighting style using the senjutsu chakra. Although we don’t see this fighting style in action in this chapter, I can only imagine it’s similar to Jiraiya’s fighting style: a combination of swift movements followed by devastatingly powerful hits. Also, Naruto is shown practicing a secret technique by himself when Fukasaku is asleep. At this point, the best guess is that it’s the Rasen Shuriken and Naruto is practicing in secrecy because Tsunade made him promise not to use it anymore after discovering its bad side effects. One can only imagine how powerful the Rasen Shuriken will be when combined with all the power Naruto can draw in from nature’s energy.
But the Sage Arts is not a perfect weapon, at the end of his secret training we see Naruto suddenly break out is sweat and is short of breath after turning off Senjutsu mode. Even though he is borrowing nature’s energy, he still needs to combine it with his own chakra to mould it and to maintain concentration. Like the Rasen Shuriken, Senjutsu could be a double-edged sword for Naruto, especially since he is known for overexerting himself. One complaint I have with Naruto’s transformation is… Why does it look like he’s wearing Mascara? I know Kishi tried to make his eyes more toad-like, but it looks to me like Naruto has put on some eyeliner. But oh well, I guess it’s the price you pay for obtaining power… remember Sasuke’s Cursed Seal Level 2?
On the other front, the Konohanians are still chugging away at solving the clues Jiraiya left behind about his adversary, Pein, but not really getting anywhere. Ino’s father, Inoichi Yamanaka, is asked by Ibiki Morino to use genjutsu to extract information out of the captured Rain ninja, but he discovers many layers of protection planted inside the ninja’s mind by Pein. Meanwhile Shikamaru, Sakura and Shiho brainstorm over Jiraiya’s message and Shizune examines the black material extracted from one of Pein’s bodies using a ninja microscope.
But the big shocker at the end of the chapter is that Pein has quietly appeared just outside the city walls. The small contingent of Leaf ninja he has slaughtered is just the beginning… I have the feeling that we’ll see some excellent fighting in the chapters ahead. But now that Naruto’s training is near completion, where will he head to? Return to Konoha to fight Pein, but risk playing right into Akatsuki’s hand? Or will Naruto head out immediately to track down Sasuke and finally beat some sense into him. Tune in next time! Same Naruto time, same Naruto channel!

Anyways, I’m glad to see that naruto’s improved so much. Kishimoto finally gave us something to think about in this chapter: What is Naruto’s new secret technique? I don’t think it’s a Sage Mode Rasen Shuriken… That’d be too lame. And since Kishimoto’s trying to be not-lame-’cause-he’s-been-sooo-fuckin’-lame-lately, I think it’ll be something else. He might’ve gotten an idea about it after readin Jiraiya’s book…
Now, about Pein invading Konoha… There’s gonna be Kage meeting soon, and since Konoha is supposed to be strongest nation, I suppose that all 5 Kages will gather in Konoha. That would mean Gaara, Tsunade, the Raikage, Madara and the 5th Kage (whoever he is; and his alliegence is still uknown) might all be there when Pein attacks… Meaning we might be in for an interesting battle.
I’m surpise that the number 1 loudest unpredictable hyperactive knuckle headed ninja pull it off but I’m impress that he surpass Jiraiya in the art of Senjutsu.
J-sama don’t forget that madra is the leader of akatsuki so he might kill every kage there if the mist village haven’t made a new mizukage.
nice review but I am curious about naruto’s secret traing. What is he practicing in secretcy? I think pa toad will keep Naruto in the frog world to protect him after the training is complete. tsunade will send a message to Pa via toad mail and inform them of the fight/invasion. Pa will keep Naruto with him. There he will use the key on Naruto.

Nice analysis Bob but it seem that you write this blog in hurry.You miss to to mention that the cloud ninja’s have intruded Sasuke’s lair and that Kohan isn’t Pein 6th body.I suppose that you haven’t to much free time and that you are extremely busy,but you never miss anything before.

I’m so happy to see Naruto master the sage arts. Who would’ve thought that this knucklehead will be able to perfect the “keeping perfectly still†part of the training? Two things that I’m curious about: (1) the jutsu that Naruto is practicing secretly and (2) the after-effects of the sage mode. When Naruto fell, he said “that didn’t really hurtâ€. Now what happens after the sage mode dissipates? Will he still experience bodily trauma?
Pain has arrived in Konoha. Will he continue to wreak havoc in Konoha after he finds out that Naruto isn’t there? Or will he be summoned by Madara for the hachibi extraction?
Shikamaru’s team hasn’t made any progress in decoding the clues. I didn’t expect to see Inoichi in this part. But it’s good to see the abilities of these jonin. Word of advice to Ino: Follow your father’s footsteps and join Ibiki’s ANBU Torture and Interrogation Force.
I think Naruto has gotten incredibly strong and I would like to see him before I am sure but since I haven’t I’m going to say he’s not ready! The only reason I say that is because he should learn other jutsu like a giant air bullet that he shoots out of his mouth and a fire jutsu and a water jutsu and maybe the third hokages shuriken shadow clone jutsu and make it stronger by using bigger shurikens! Maybe he should learn how to explode his clones like Itachi or wind chakra shape manipulation like Sasuke! I think he should learn big destructive jutsu’s as well! This would take more than a week but he needs this! Come on Naruto I believe in you!
I can’t wait to see the next chapter because we finally get to see Pein again and I hope Sasuke comes to his senses and help the leaf I hope he is playing Madara!
I think Sasuke is lying to Madara I think he making an illusion just like Itachi did and why would he lie to Team Hawk when they are the only real people that he trust the most right now! If Sasuke is this stupid than I don’t think he would have gotten this far so he has to be lying to Madara! At Least I hope so because if Pein and Konan and Sasuke’s team join hands and attack Konoha then I don’t think Konoha have much of a chance accept for Kakashi, Tsunade and a few other shinobi! Hopefully Naruto gets there in time an shows some explosive jutsu! I am getting more restless about this I am ready to pop!

Also sage enhances evrythin as look at when jiraiya fought pain remeber those instances when he was moving really fast and and that was only half sage so yeah. Like J-sama said, with the summit close at hand, it’ll be interesing to see the 5 kages go at with Pein. Konoha would be destroyed just from that alone!
Naruto seems to be doing awesome! I can’t wait to see what kind of jutsus the Sage mode can be applied to. Imagine, Sage mode draws from Nature, imagine Tajuu Kage Buunshin all in Sage Mode!
I also agree that Naruto’s secret techniue is something other than a Sage Rasen Shuriken. I think it may be “THAT” jutsu that we keep hearing about. What ever it is, I’m betting it’s awesome! But what exactly could it be? I think … he learned one of Kyuubi’s attacks and can use it on his own. But that’s just me.
oh … and one more thing … I think once the fighting begins, and Naruto comes back into the mix, I think he end up giving up and go along willingly. To save the village. As much as he wants to be Hokage, he probably understands that the village safety comes first. Once again, that’s just me.

Descent chapter, I still think its a little cliche’ how easily Naruto gets everything. The whole “The One,” theme that I see too much in Asian culture these days really bothers me.
Pein looks pretty sweet, they remind me of like zombies quietly gathering on the outskirts of the city, about to make their move, like in that one movie Land of the Dead or whatever.
Like J was saying, if the Kages do go to Konoha, things will get interesting. Lets see we’ve got Tsunade, Gaara, Raikage. Then theres Madara, and isn’t Pein the last Kage??? That means 2 of them are Akatsuki, and 3 of them are completely unaware to that. The meeting is trying to stop Akatsuki, so what the hell?
Then there Naruto coming into the whole situation. Sasuke is heading for Konoha. Akatsuki is waiting to remove the 8-tails. Cloud-nin are pursuing Sasuke.
What the F*** Kishi? You better have one amazing plan to tie all this together and get this stuff resolved.

I didn’t think the cloud in the air during Naruto’s training is saying anything about his jutsu, if you look at the previous panel, there were a lot of clouds in the sky that night. It was just something Kishi used to indicate some major action had just occurred.

Stolen from the lair were several rare ninja scrolls, a collector’s edition boxset of Uchiha clan kunais, a 65″ 1080p LCD television and some of Sasuke’s old sweaty unwashed clothes (Karin is very upset). Please report to your local Akatsuki representative if you have any information that will lead to the arrest of these heinous criminals. Also: Would Naruto Uzumaki please report to the nearest Akatsuki hideout, we have… free candy and ramen!

I don’t think so. Or at least, he doesn’t realise he’s lying. Sasuke himself is pretty confused right now… The flashback he had just before using Amaterasu on KillerBee showed that he still cared for his old friends, as well as for his new ones (because they remind them of the old ones). Sasuke does want to kill the Konoha elders and maybe even destroy Konoha itself, but if Madara and Pein take care of things first, things may change pretty quickly.

Ah, there is a certain trick behind this. NARUTO, like Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and Satan 666 already has a known ending: In the end the main character gets what he was blabbing about since the begining. So in the end Naruto’s gonna be Hokage. It’s just the way things are. No matter when that happens, it’s still gonna happen. Naruto isn’t going to be captured by Akatsuki, or even if gets captured, the Kyuubi won’t be extracted, because it’s Naruto’s special trait. It was the very first thing shown in the manga and it’s gonna be with Naruto ’till he becomes the Hokage (and after that). It’s just the way the japanese manga writers think. Not to mention that Naruto won’t give up no matter what.
And one last thing. The 5 Kages are:
Hokage – Kage of Konohagakure.
Kazekage – Kage of Sunagakure.
Mizukage – Kage of Kirigakure.
Raikage – Kage of Kumogakure.
Tsuchikage – Kage of Iwagakure
So the last Kage isn’t Pein, but the Kage of the Earth Country, who’s alliegence is still unknown.

I think the next chapter will be focus on peins arrival. I dont that Kishi dont shows more details about the training till Narutos return to konoha where he reveals his new power against pein.
I guess that a fight against pein is easier for Naruto as a fight against Sasuke, because he hasnt a weapon against his genjutsu in his actual state.
It seems that pein can brings his clones back to live but if naruto destroy all the bodys in one strike, no one can bring they back.
ok… was a pretty descent chapter… a couple of things though… i do not thing that naruto’s new jutsu has anything to do with what itachi gave him cause i think that would be a last resort measure against sasuke as Itachi said “i hope you never have to use it”.
Second, if that cloud appearing has anything to do with naruto’s jutsu, whatever it is, it means one thing… naruto for the first time will have the ability for long range attacks.
Also, maybe with senjutsu naruto may have found a way to fight genjutsu… like the 8tails beast was disturbing the flow of chackra of its host in order to release the genjutsu, maybe naruto will be able to do the same by drawing natural energy chakra and disturbing his own flow of chackra… i am not too sure if this could work in the naruto world but i hope it does.
Great blog Bob, I gotta say that I agree about the whole macara thing. It was also the case when Naruto uses the Nine-Tails chakra, he gets black lines outlining his eyes. Speaking of which,
how cool is Naruto gonna look with the Sage and Nine-Tails Chakra flowing through him, really powerful too.
About the the look of Narutos sage mode. I think his mascara eyes are better than a wart nose.
Bob’s analysis brings forth a few questions:
1. What if Naruto was using Itachi’s power instead of the Rasen-Shuriken?
2. How does Frog Fu taste?
3. Are Ninja Microscopes better than regular ones?
4. Is Naruto’s eyeliner the same shade as Itachi’s?

she can use the communication frog and Naruto could return in no time with the summon technique.

besied that it was a chapter that i enjoyed the most in a long time.the only thing that bugs me in the naruto verse so far is that NARUTO HAS NO WIND JUTSU!! WTF!! personally i feel that if he was able to do a few wind jutsu then it would’ve been easier for him to do the wind rasengan in the beginning.sasuke can do all of these elemental jutsu,why not naruto.IT WOULD SUCK BALLZ if naruto did all of that trainning to only use wind in his wind rasengan.
BUT this chapte might have hinted at a new jutsu,or hes perfecting an old jutsu.whether it be the jutsu forbidden by jiraiya or the wind rasengan or something entirely new.

well since im on the topic of pain.im glad that shikamaru tachi ga are on the right track about pains secret.i am still upset that fukusaku didnt say what was on his mind when asked since he was there during the fight,but decided to keep it all to himself.i know kishi did this(hope)to bring it back later because it is so obvious that it would’ve given everything away.i mean they werent even there and the getting pretty close.
i just started thinking this today for some reason.im sure that the real pain/nagato is controlling the other bodies from somewhere else.im sure most of you would agree with me ?when i was thinking this it hit me that i wonder how strong this real pain/nagato person is? im sure having the ability is some power of his doujutsu(sharingan can copy,byakugan can has 360 degree vision).his eye is the metempsychosis eye.
I would like to see him drawn out and have to fight.i mean jiraiya said that he could master all six elements(which means that the real persons is someone else because they can only use on technique.or maybe they only showed jiraiya one ?)etc… he’s just a really strong ninja!
i must say that i was pretty dissappointed by watching this weeks shippuuden.i still cant believe that naruto can do a rasengan with one hand yet! WTF! the 4th made the jutsu in 3 years.naruto trained with jiraiya for 2 1/2-3.so y cant he do it.if i were him id make 1000 shadow clones and practice chakra manipulation until i could.because sasuke can change the shape of chidori like its nothing.
spaking of chidori.i believe thats its wrong for naruto to not have an elemental jutsu by itself and in the form of chidori…as in atack.like instead of it being lightning it would be wind.i mean gaara’s sensei bak… whateve his name is,i forgot.used a sword made of wind to kill hayate and i thought it was awesome.i would like to see naruto have somthing like that to go against chidori and it would shock the hell out of sasuke

1)in that pain doesnt immediately attack the village.maybe he waits to observe through the genjutsu to see what they are trying to do.but thats too obvious.and it only gives them more time to learn his secret.so so much for that idea.
2)pain has konan scout for naruto(if they know what he looks like).if he’s not there(which he isnt)then they leave.or they kill ninja to try to get info.or like you said(this idea came a while ago,but i forgot) that madara summons pain back to help with the summoning maybe because… the jinchuuriki is showing sings of dying or something like that.but i doubt that because in the last few chapters madara says that all we have to do now is wait for pain to come back with the ninetails.

i just re read the manga to look at the background to see if it was full of clouds before naruto was sweating and i noticed two things.
1)fukusaku says that he’ll pound the art of Frog Fu into naruto.hopefully this will improve his taijustu and speed.i mean they classify naruto as a close combat person,but his taijutsu sucks and he’s slow to boot.
2)last panel of page 9 has a lot of clouds but this could just be a transition to a new area.and also there are holes in this panel.and on page 10 there are no holes when it shows the whole background including naruto.but maybe its too small of a detail to see.but the second to last panel has the holes.are these housing quaters?
also this cloud seems to be directly over naruto,and maybe its not sweat but rain from the cloud? fukusaku seems to know a lot about,i thinks its stupid for naruto not to show fukusaku,because i feel like fukusaku could help naruto with his jutsu? also he is aware of the fact that naruto has the kyuubi.i wonder if naruto could mix the kyuubi chakra with sage chakra? then he would have red frog eyes with maskera lmao.
also i did notice that it was ino’s father,but it took a few seconds.at first i thought it was some person running in between the panles,running from pain.then when i saw his face in the next panel i realised who it was.it was hard though because this is our second time seeing him.its nice and a surprise to see that he works in the interrogation squad or he was just brought in to help.well i take that bac,he does work for them because he said now wonder OUR truth serum isnt working.
im still stuck on the fact that pain has a technique like that in place.

I gota say that person in the genjustu ball isnt jaraiya’s adversary, its naruto without his fox marks.. the first thing i thought was a time skip of where naruto’s jinchurriki was taken by pein, i mean just like ino’s father said ” it must have been this ‘pein’ characters technique”.
Page 14: the autopsy room with shizune and the 3 broken katanas(which i think was Jaraiya’s adversary) and by the look on shizune’s face this is really complicated or they’ve found something shocking 0.0

Naruto’s new eye make up looks like the same stuff that showed up on J-sama’s face when he fought Pein, but in smaller quantities.
The rules in anime: rain means something important or horrible is about to happen. Naruto’s clearly trying to learn something he isn’t supposed to and is making sure Fukusaku doesn’t know about it. He probably wants to use the Kyuubi’s chakara or his Rasengan of doom.
Great post Bob. Hopefully the sage toads will come to fight against Pein. Naruto with the rasengan of doom seems like a potent weapon to use.
Wow, i liked this chapter. We finally see Naruto progressing a little bit. I am also wondering what could be the jutsu he is trying to get and also i dont think he got tired of using sage mode, i reli think it was the exhaustion of trying so hard to get the jutsu.
Since Naruto mastered the sage art to the perfection, i dont think its hard for him to increase his speed, since he said it feels good to be “one” with nature, which means he just use the wind/nature to get anywhere he wants.
And the kage meeting it would be awesome for all Kages gather in Konaha and fight with Pein, but did anyone think that maybe all kages will meet in Cloud Country since they are the one with problems so which means Pein enters the village when there is no kage. Easier for him
hello everyone reading this blog i feel that a few things should be mentioned. (1) i think that Sasuke is playing madara. I say this for the simple fact that sasuke has clearly made it important that Itachi means the most to him. With that i went back a reread their fight and then meeting between madara and sasuke. During sasuke and itachi’s fight, itachi said he was the only one that could stop madara, but then in the meeting between madara and sasuke(during sasuke flashback) itachi says sasuke is the only one that can stop him. Madara goes on to say that he always knew about itachi and kept and few things away from him. Thus i think that sasuke is getting close only to learn more about madara’s secrets. (2) The only one that even has a close chance of beating pein is naruto, not only because he is the main character and is most similar to j-sama but most importantly he is being trained hands on by the only character known so far in the manga to have survived a fight w/pein.
sorry for writing back to back but i was wondering something. There is one thing that doesn’t make sense at all in the manga. That is if the sharingan is the weakest out of the three eyes…why is madara controlling pein…thus leads me to reach out and say either pein and madara have a serious connection or that madara knows pein secret through battle and thus madara is black-mailing pein in some way.Im might be reaching though.

I think you’re wrong about the rasenshuriken because Naruto needs a clone so manipulate the wind to create it.
Also, The panels with what appears to be a scroll going into the air remain unexplained and if you look it appears at the beginning and the end of the Naruto training sequence.
I’m still betting that our hero is either:
a. creating a jutsu to supplement Sasuke’s abilities. Which in the picture Naruto is using a LOT of wind to make what appears to be a rain cloud in order to help Sasuke use his elemental lightning jutsus.
b. (the more likely of the two) using the jutsu Jiraiya told him not to use involving a scroll.
I really hope this new move is a surpise.
and I still believe only Senju of the forest can tap into nature itself to use Senjutsu and that’s why we haven’t seen anyone besides the Sannin use it and that’s why Pein made the comment about them missing Orochimaru because he could tap into such forces.
Also, I believe Orochimaru’s Sage mode was the goofy white snake that Sasuke cut up, which may go to show that Jiraiya had more control over Sage mode than Orochimaru. I hope this sage mode stuff comes up in the battle with Pein and Tsunade.

Well in my opinion this is a great chapter.It’s really reliefing to see what Naruto had achieved and due to frog’s words he is even better than Jiraiya at least in the time and control part.And for almost the first time in Naruto Shippuuden Naruto had really done sth admirable that only a few other people have done.He had become the best in learning the sage arts..till now.And as we saw Jiraiya was a powerful ninja.Imagine what Naruto will be when all trainning is over!

Now a new theory was born at least for me.As we saw Konaha’s nins trying to “”break”" the protection on that …man’s…. brain they said that may Pain have placed a protection barrier!!!!So what if Itachi gave Naruto a barrier against Genjutsu because he knew after all those encounters with Naruto that he is weak an Genjutsu so he armed him with a Genjutsu barrier in order to give him more chances to bring Sasuke back bacause now Sasuke’s powers have increaced and he is a very good genjutsu user.Madara was and no one knows id he remains a sharringan master and Pain obviously is good at illusions too.So to me it seems a very good theory.Itachi after all was very skillful at Genjutsu as he could even cast one only by moving a finger.What do you say?

If you´re right this would be the first time that Naruto create a new jutsu without support.
Jiraya shows to release the red chakra, summon frogs and rasengan, kakashi and yamato shows him elemental manipulation and fukasaku the sage arts.
This would be a big step if he can create new jutsus on his own.
Cant wait to see the fight against pein.
6 Pein and konan, who could be involved.
Maybe Kakashi, yamato, shikamaru, gai, neji, Tsunade and finaly Naruto, for every Akatsuki a oppenent. It have no sense if Tsunade order weak shinobi against Pein.
This chapter was awsome! Things are getting very intresting and i cant wait any longer for the outcome of naruto choice. I wonder how Pein put that mental protection inside that rain ninjas head, how did he now that ninja might get caught. Seems like Pein is already making his move on konoha. I wonder will Tsunade fight too.
@ Ultimatehokage: i agree with you, if naruto combine his ninetailedfox chakura and the nature’ power with elemental manipulation and make that into one combinejutsu with Frog fu, he will be very powerful.

I don’t think the sage fighting style will be like Jiraiya’s maybe Naruto will learn a more powerful form because he is actually a perfect 100% sage and Jiraiya wasn’t, not to say he still wasn’t strong! But Naruto in my opinion he is going to have to learn more than this because Pein is so strong! But there is one think I want to know when Naruto was training to make the Rasenshuriken Kakashi said he has mastered shape manipualtion so does that mean he can make a chakra blade or throw chakra shuriken like Sasuke can?
I think Pein is controling them from another dimension or something because the rinnengan gives you the power of the 5 elements and the six element is spiritual or dimensional so maybe he is in a dimensional rift o he could control everything or something!
This was def not a disappointing Chapter “Naruto The Sage” Now thats just bad ass. Hopefully this fighting style helps Naruto a bit, and @yellowflash: i hope he will be able to chuck that Rasenshuriken. maybe it would be less harmful if an opponent was directly hit by it, then Naruto being behind the blast.

I think that lil girl is a major key to the Peins. She was the only one that was absent from the fight with jiraya. Using her as the main body but even using his real one as a distraction, but also being careful not to inflict any damage to his own. If that makes any sense. Next chapter is def gonna be interesting

Finally, Pain has arrived in Konoha village but I can’t wait to see who he will collide with first. Is it Kakashi, Guy, Tsunade, or Shikamaru and Sakura? Maybe someone we haven’t mention yet but I bet it’s gonna be awsome. As for Naruto, he’s almost done with his training and what is this jutsu we kept hearing about? I don’t know about you guyz but I think this jutsu is the one that Jiraiya told Naruto not to do way back in the beginning of Naruto return manga before they took off to rescue Gaara. Because I don’t think I remeber that jutsu. Or it could be that he has figure how to use the 4th hokage body flicker jutsu. Whatever it is I bet it’ll be awsome too.

To me this is undoubtedly the best chapter in a long time, I’m more a fan of reading content than seeing fights in mangas! Anyway, I haven’t read all the comments yet, but J-sama, if tsunade has alread received word about the meeting it wouldn’t be held in Konoha anyway asa the Raikage has called it. The way I see it, there has to be at least two more attacks on konoha (by Akatsuki) before the manga ends and probably one more by an opportunistic village (e.g. the mist). Anyway, back to the chapter, I don’t mind the mascara, its just to look like Fukasaku’s eyes. Its good to see he is more powerful and this should translate into more speed as with jiraiya’s hermit mode. I’m curious to see what new jutsu frog-fu comes with!

I think Kakashi will die if he face Pein. My own personal reason being, if you remember the front of the Manga which had 3rd Hokage, Jaraiya, Minato, Kakashi and then Naruto. The first three are dead… Also, their may be a pattern as to when they died e.g before their Sensei and so on…

I believe that people shouldn’t under-estimate the effectiveness of tajuu kage bushin no jutsu, I have made this comment before about how the clones can be made by dividing natural chakra hence giving them naruto’s normal power levels. Also, as with hermit mode, sage mode is naruto’s ultimate FORM, consequently, it is unlikely that he would enter this mode at the beginning of a battle. Consequently, it will be interesting to see how this frog-fu compliments his current fighting style, giving him abilities that he can use in regular mode (like summoning random frogs, cotching oil and those random things jiraiya could do – and new ones because making naruto the lil’ ero-senin would just be whack) as well as some kick-ass ones for sage mode.
@ Goldenchild02: I think that the only reason kakashi would die at this stage is if as I have noted tsuande has gone to the summit already, then as many have said, he is the strongest remaining ninja. The way I see it, considering how powerful Tsunade knows Pein is (given that he killed Jiraiya) it is unlikely that once pein’s presence is felt in Konoha, she would make other ninja fight him, given that she knows how powerful jiraiya was and that she is conceivably the only one who can battle him. Sadly this will mean she dies and naruto will be more amped to kill pein and take down akatsuki. As a side note: I really don’t see the Naruto v Pein battle happening soon. I think that like Itachi the last time he went to Konoha he will leave once he sees Naruto is not there. Akatsuki are not an organisation that engages in pointless battles.
I like the idea of itachi’s power being a genjutsu counter, this is highly probable and would likely be in the form of itachi activating Kyuubi whenever a genjutsu is being placed like ameratasu activated when madara was around. Additionally, I don’t think that rasenshuriken is the jutsuhe is practicing in secret for 3 reasons:
1. Fukasaku doesn’t know that it is forbidden, so who would he hide it.
2. in the distance, after using it, the mountain is split/they two spikes are slanted to either side (hence it is still very likely a wind based jutsu, maybe similar to things we say sora do when his pseudo-kyuubi hand was activated).
3. When he used rasenshuriken on Kakuzu, it was loud and formed a circular pit after it connected and there is no evidence of such destruction.
The only way I see it being rasenshuriken is if he is developing a way to throw it like a real shuriken [which would be awesome] one can only hope! ;0)

I think Naruto is practicing “THAT JUTSU†that Jiraya talk about; and Naruto is using the frog-scroll (the key) to take full control of the Kyubi’s chakra (See chapter 370 page 08 09, 10 and 11).
Naruto received the key (as Jiraya wished) but Naruto keeps this is secret.
The JUTSU has been developed from the Rasengan. Remember that Minato create the Rasengan but never complete it, the jutsu was meant to mix 2 types of chakra. Now imagine a Rasengan that mix wind’chakra + nature’s chrakra (genjutsu).
This jutsu can create winds powerfull enough to deserve the name of WIND’s GOD or something similar (see cover of Chapter 341).
Naruto’s secret training have nothing to do with the rasen shuriken, like J Sama, Firelord and Siskin said.

My guess:
SASUKE will go after the elders while Konoha’s main shinobies fight Pein. That is why he is in a hurry to reach Konoha, and didn’t wait to obtain the 8-tailed power before his attack.
I even expect more genjutsu fights (like Itachi did to Sasuke, now Sasuke can play a lot with Konohan minds).
KAGE MEETINGS – We don’t know if it have been summoned already. I suppose that it will happen after Pein’s attack., So there is a chance that Kakashi can be Kage for that time. I think Pein is Tsuname Doom.

I just got to say that Naruto is definitely practicing the jutsu Jiraiya forbade him to use, but it could be possible that is something else like RasenShuriken or Kyubi. Anyway, if it were either of the aforementioned, Naruto would have caused a hell of noise and awakened Pa Toad. Therefore, the jutsu he’s practicing is a silent one like time/space Body Flicker.
What really pisses me off is that in all of this time the cryptography unit has not had any substantial progress. Freaking damn it! And Sakura comes with her stupid conclusion about Pein! Good job Shikamaru in disproving what she burped.

im not sure how legit this is,but i read an article that was in interview of kishimoto about naruto.and in it it mentioned how the producers and what not wanted him to make battles for team hawk? if this is true is it possible for Omoi, Samui, and Karui to be the people who will fight Suigetsu, Karin, and Juugo?.Karin doesnt seem like much of a fighter so i think Sasuke could be in the mix… it that happens

Nice post Bob. I’m pretty sure the power Itachi left Naruto is Itachi’s contingency plan, just in case sasuke decided he wanted to turn against Konoha. If Itachi truly believed Naruto would become hokage, then giving him something to fight Sasuke with would be a pretty good idea. I’m pretty sure Sasuke isn’t bluffing to team Hawk either. Sasuke has always been manipulated, throughout the whole series someone has had a hand in his actions, so I truly think he will attack Konoha. Oh and lastly, Naruto’s nighttime jutsu is probably something new. If it is “that jutsu” then it can’t be rasen shuriken, its probably something with the kyuubi, because at the time he learned it, he didn’t know even know his elemental type.

maybe jiriaya showed him the basics for the bodyflicker, and naruto could not perform it well. he probably hit one to many trees and jiriaya decided not to continue teaching naruto the move. i would think that to perform minato’s bodyflicker would need a lot of chakra because it was an advanced form of it and that’s why jiriaya wanted naruto to use more of the foxes power and had the frog weaken the seal slightly.

jiriaya could not perform the body flicker but he knew how it was done in theory just like how kakashi thought naruto to add wind to the rasengan while he was not able to do it.
But someday he will learn the bodyflicker, because it would be one of the best jutsus against madara time/space jutsu. But for now its to early to learn this jutsu.

I give prop to Naruto_Fan and Ultimatehokage cuz they point it out first. Jiraiya might not be powerful enough to perform Minato’s body flicker jutsu but he know how it works. Naruto probably discover that jutsu by accident and our man Jiraiya was forced to teach him from there. My theory is maybe it has something to do with spliting your atoms and if you are not power enough to control it somehow; you will cease to exsist. That’s probably why Jiraiya warned him not to do it and he try to cramed naruto with 9tail fox power just so he will have enough power to perform it. If Naruto is not learning this jutsu then who will be powerful enough to counter Madara space/time jutsu? If Naruto is destine to spoil Madara’s plan and Pain is on the way to capture him then it’s now over never.

I really dont see whats the obsession is with body flicker. Not to hurt feelings but that jutsu really doesnt fit Narutos style. The cloud in the background proves that it is something with enormous power. There is no sign of shadow clones, hes does state that he has to practice more in Sage Mode and as FallenUchiha says, Naruto didnt know elemental chakra when he headed off to save Gaara. Instead of the Kyuubi’s power, Naruto is using his Sage ability which is almost an ulimited supply of chakra… Kishi reallys gots us thinking! Main question is with Pein knocking on the door, whos gonna fill the pein?

The body flicker can’t be about strength as it is as much about being sensitive to the kunei in order to be able to summon yourself there.
Jiraiya was frog sage sensitive but not enough to be able to balance the senjutsu chakra.
Naruto is sensitive enough to balance it and could learn the body flicker but I don’t think that’s in his future.
Something that strikes me as odd is Naruto when leaving with Jiraiya tells the monument of the 4th hokage to watch him. Sorry, I’ve been reading old chapters.
It almost seems like we should start a book club to exam old chapters and read 10 chapters a week. I also noticed that Zetsu shows up after Sasuke and Naruto’s battle at the valley of the end… conicidence? I think not because there also is a rain storm that stops Pakun from following Sasuke’s scent. Who can controll the rain in the Naruverse? Pein. also, Chapter 327 page 16 shows us another possible location of the real Pein… inside the giant Rinnengan toteing head. Maybe the Giant was the burrial of the sage of the six paths? eh… Maybe Nagato is curled up inside it.
Also, if you’re wondering, to extract a bijuu you need to equal the power of the bijuu on the inside in order to release it from the host which takes some time and is the purpose of the sealing statue (i think) as discussed in chapter 261 page 7 by old lady Chiyo.
What? Chapter 364 page 14 Yamato talks about space time jutsu that Sasuke could have used. I didn’t think this was talked about until Kakashi kind faced Madara real quick… Anyway, Kiba confirms that Summoning is a form of space time jutsu (although Sasuke needed some help using it).
And furthermore… that wakey jutsu Asuma and Chi… what’s his face use in the anime isn’t in the manga and they also don’t use hand signs to release it… I find it an irritating add on because I think Hidan’s Jashin God… the Death God… The thing in Itachi’s head that was trying to steal Sasuke’s eyes and the Bijuu eater are all connected.

I just realize something, the two elder that Tsunade hate so much what are they up to anyway? In the anime we know that they used to be part of the 3rd hokage’s team. They were trained by the 1st and 2nd hokage. They don’t look it but that means that they are either as strong if not stronger than the 3rd. What if Tsunade really did go to the 5 kage summit and when Pain attack Konoha he’ll encounter those two elders instead. That would make things a lil bit interesting, I bet.

Well, this was an interesting chapter, showing a lot of progress, everyone is saying that this was a great chapter, well my people, i have to admit, the fact that Naruto its alredy a Sage, he’s training with a new jutsu, and that in Konoha they almost knoe the secret of Pain its Great. BUT YOU GUYS BETTER REALEYES THAT THE BEST OF THIS CHAPTER WAS THAT THERE WAS “NO SASUKE”, THAT WAS THE BEST PART OF ALL, GOD HOW GOOD THAT WAS,THAT FRUSTRATED SON OF A BITCH HAD ME SICK, NOT SEEN HIM IN THIS CHAPTER WAS SO GOOD I CANT EVEN EXPLAIN IT. Now Pein is in Konoha, im not gonna guess what will happen because you know that this series has proven that can change from one side to another in just 1 chapter. But ill tell you what would be cool and the most logical thing, tsunade its a sanning she is the most powerful ninja in konoha right now, and the most intelligent that can come with a plan in a short time its shikamaru,( also they are studing pain’s body) sooooo, i think that it woul be good that Pain get his ass kicked by Tusnade, Shikamaru, and then Naruto strikes him with a new jutsu he had learned with the sages. What do you think.

@ DarkShinobi – No, I don’t think he did kill the Mizukage. The identity of the leader has been shrouded in mystery – I think it has been said in previous chapters.
@ Siskin – I see where you’re coming from about Naruto asking the 4th to watch over him but, if you remember in the very early chapters that Naruto (I’m not too sure who by) was told that the 4th Hokage was the strongest of all the Kages. So, Naruto being Naruto admires the strongest and always challenges himself to be stronger than them. But, him saying that could also be a little hint…

it goes 1, 3, 2 and… from there I forget. But an interesting theory is that they use the power of the previously caught bijuu to extract the new ones. This may explain why Madara doesn’t need team hawk for the extraction… because I found that odd that Sasuke wandered off to lick his wounds and Madara didn’t say “Hey emo kid… it’s not over yet.”

I think the 2nd hokage was a jinchuriki and that’s why the 3rd and the 4th knew the seal to be able to seal the kyuubi. Perhaps Hanzo was one as well and that’s why he could beat the Sannin… maybe he has the 2nd hokages bijuu and maybe when Pein beat him they sealed his bijuu. But that wouldn’t make sense because Gaara was the first and the battle at amagekure was over with for a while…
but I agree that there could be a connection… or Hanzo just has a scar on his face. But my bet is on jinchuuriki.
well its been a while since ive truly been on. i havent made any comments on anything in a while becuase of school and all, but i have been checking ack and reading things with my little amount of time i had, but i am glad to be back… Anyways, this was a great chapter. I wonder what awaits kanoha, and i cant wait to start reading other things.

Naruto’s pupils are horizontal, Jiraiya’s are symmetrical, but Jiraiya has other frog features like his nose, hands, and feet. I don’t know where I was going with this but I think it just confirms that Naruto will have surpassed Jiraiya after he learns “Frog Fu.”
Also, I really hope that when Naruto finally masters sage mode we see a battle between him and the Nine-Tails inside Naruto, so Naruto can finally earn the respect of the Nine-Tails and control him freely. It would be a nice transition to Naruto confronting Pein, Madara, and/or Sasuke.
Personally, I think that Naruto does not yet know what “Power” or ability Itachi gave him. Thinking back to everything that happened, my best guess would be it’s “that” jutsu that was incomplete during the training with Jiraiya, possibly the teleportation technique that required drawing out the 9-tails chakra. Naruto couldn’t control that chakra without being overcome by the demon fox due to the high amount of chakra needed. Seeing how it looks like a long range attack in manga 418, and him not wanting to let anyone know he is practicing it (very dangerous and forbidden to use because of its destructive it is[Chapter 370 – talk between Jaraiya and the frog about ‘that’ jutsu), I would say he is now using his newly obtained Sage power to gain the chakra needed to work on mastering that jutsu. My opinion anyways.
By the way, what the picture of in the bottom right frame of that page? Any ideas guys/girls?
Also the kanji in the bottom left frame, where the frog is sleeping, pretty much means he is shouting or screaming in his sleep/dream. Maybe another clue of how dangerous the jutsu Naruto is now practicing?
it wouldn’t suprise me if the 2nd hokage and hanzo were connected…its a safe guess to say that hanzo used water jutsu’s and if im not mistaken the 2nd hokage was a water jutsu too…good eye on that one @white shinobi
yes the 2nd was an expert water jutsu user so thats something that can also connect the two most likely other than their scars
since we are on the topic of hanzo…@J-sama i think pein is a kage. i say this because he killed hanzo who was the kage of the village hidden in the rain(Amegakure)…this is were i had my mix up from comment 112…so Akatsuki has two kages among them
This also brings to mind a theory/answer to the mystery of pein…seeing how he killed hanzo and took his place as kage in Amegakure. I think that were the real pein(Nagato) is located, i would make sense and go along with the code the pervy sage left sayin “the real one isn’t among them”. Pein(Nagato) has to fully lock in his power a kage in the rain village.
For a while another Great Ninja War has been hinted at through Akatsuki, but how this would really happen, with there being so the Kages, so many other powerful shinobi out there to stop them. But not only having two Kages in Akatsuki, but possibly the strongest Kages alive. I think it is very possible that another ninja war is coming. The first step towards this happened when Raikage ordered a Kage meeting, putting them all in danger of the real Pein and madara

I think it means that Sasuke has matured/progressed to a point where he can be used by Akatsuki. And then there is a period, then “his mind is made up.” Which I think means that Sasuke has made his mind up about killing Itachi.

thanks bob for all the good stuff. i’d like to elaborate on a small part though… i can’t read Japanese but wasn’t that a cloud of dust above naruto when he was training secretly? i think we might be having one of 2 things:
we might either have an actual “flying” rasen-shuriken
Or, this might be the first time naruto practices that “special” power given to him by itachi on their last encounter. that part is still very gloomy in the manga, and i hope we get clear explanation of what exactly that power is.. might it be something that voids out the power of manguku sharingan? or parts of its power? that would be really interesting because since he gave sasuke Amaretsu, then he might have given naruto the antidote so that sasuke doesn’t get carried away and burns konoha to ruins. this won’t only help naruto in pushing sasuke back, but it might also mean defeating madara along the way. hmmmmmm, what if sasuke really comes back to his senses, i guess those two will make one HELL of a team, probably the strongest in shinobi history, sasuke might even add fire element to the wind refined rasengun.
i might have went out of the discussion line of this chapter, but it would really be nice to know what will happen, or at least debate the possibilities.
Basically his new technique will be, shuriken rasengan + sen jutsu + kyubis fire chakra (remember someone said that wind attack agumens the fire attack and makes it stronger). And + because he is in that sage mode thing, he will not receive a damage from spiral rasengan

About Naruto secert jutsu he is learning maybe it can be found right under our noses from the book the “Gutsy Ninja” because the book was written from Naruto to read and understand. Being realist about Naruto for him to learn something on his own without help has not been going on yet in the series so the book is the best option of him learning something so powerful. This is just my thoughts.
i don’ t dislike sasuke it just i am sort of piss that he is willing to kill his homeland.
if he really is going to do it he just like itach when he thought was sinister and cruel brother.
