As the smoke clears Naruto finds himself and Sasuke surrounded by a multitude of monsters, ninja, and every day thugs. Naruto looks at Sasuke who has a look upon his face that makes it seem like he doesn’t really care about any of this and sees it as unnecessary.

Naruto looks forward at his enemies and smiles. These guys don’t look that tough, Naruto thinks. He pulls out a kunai and throws it at the nearest thug’s head so fast that the thug can’t even block it. After, knocking it back he turns toward the monsters.

Naruto: Sasuke what do you think. You wanna go first or should I?

Sasuke: Why don’t you finish what you start before going to the next one. This is going to be difficult.

Naruto looks confused and turns back to the thug he threw the kunai at. He gasped as he saw it getting back up and pulling the kunai out of its head. Then the thug charged at Naruto swinging the kunai around as well. Naruto made some quick doppelgangers and sent them to attack all the other thugs while he dealt with this one.

Naruto: It’s no use! They keep getting back up no matter what I do! Sasuke, I need some help they won’t stop coming!

Sasuke: I’m a little busy at the moment right now. Naruto handle it by yourself !

Naruto turns to see Sasuke singlehandedly slashing through monster after monster. Sasuke made some hand signs and let loose his fireball jutsu. Then he ran towards the nearest of the monsters and unleashed his sharingan again.

Sasuke: Sharingan dimension rip type two! ZERO DIMENSION SLICE !

Sasuke slashed through the monster, ripping it into different sized portions. Then the potions started shrinking and vanished all together into another dimension. Sasuke looked relieved that it had worked being the first time he used it on a enemy. He looked back at the other monsters putting themselves back together. Sasuke sighed.

Sasuke: Why didn’t I go for their heads. You always have to destroy the head.

Naruto turned around and noticed that the ninja who appeared hadn’t attacked yet. He thought it was strange and sent a clone over there. The clone tried to talk to the ninja but it did nothing. Then he waved his hand in front of it and it still did nothing. Finally when the clone struck it and the ninja started to attack. Naruto finally understood what the point of the prelim was.

Naruto: Sasuke stop attacking! It only provokes them!

Sasuke: Of course it provokes them You moron! If you saw someone coming at you and trying to rip your head off you would try to fight too!

Naruto: You don’t understand! They don’t attack unless we attack. This prelim isn’t about testing our abilities as much as it is to test how we assess a battle!

Sasuke: And what if they were told to act like that so you could come up with that kind of conclusion. Then you would drop your guard and they would kill you. I don’t want to die Naruto, but if I listen to you then I surely will!

Naruto: Sasuke you need to trust me for once! If you don’t, we’re screwed either way.

Sasuke kept on holding the monster off then hit it sending it back a little. Then he lowered his guard and sheathed his sword.

Sasuke: I swear Naruto if you’re wrong, I’ll kill you.

Naruto: Sorry but someone might beat you to the punch. heh heh.

Naruto looks forward as the monsters jump forward toward them poised for attack. Naruto closed his eyes and waited for the inevitable. Then after a while nothing happened and Naruto reopened his eyes. He saw the monster mere inches in front of him, its face frozen in a distorted manner. Naruto exhaled his held breath and the smoke once again covered him and Sasuke.

This time when the smoke cleared Naruto found himself in a metallic room. A few of the other contestants were there already no doubt having completed their prelim as well. Naruto stood there waiting for hours as one by one the others came. Finally the arrival of Yusuke holding up Kuwabara was the last to appear and join the group.

Yusuke: Damn Kuwabara, how many times do i have to tell ya never punch by appearance!

Kuwabara: Shut up Uremeshi. If it wasn’t for me figuring out that we weren’t supposed to fight we would still be there and probably ended up dead.

Gatherer: Too right you are Kuwabara. If you two would have stayed any longer then I would have killed you myself. Now then as we are all here allow me to introduce us all.

Naruto looked up to where the Gatherer’s voice was. He saw him floating up high above the room.

Gatherer: Now then first are my champions Goku and Vegeta!

Goku and another man appeared right next to him and looked down on them all.

Gatherer: Next is the spirit detective and his partner Yusuke and Kuwabara. Then two Ninja from the village of Konohagakure Naruto and Sasuke! Next we have two powerful soul reapers Ichigo and Renji! After them are the pirates Luffy and Zolo! These are two of the most powerful shamans to walk the earth, Yoh and Ren! These two come from a strange and wigged out universe Bo-bo-bo and Don Patch! Finally are two warriors from the Alchemist Army who use the weapon morphing Buso, Renkin Kazuki and Tokiko!

Gatherer: Now then I will let you all rest for the night and prepare yourselves for tomorrow morning when we start the tournament off with round one Team Naruto VS Team Luffy!

With that the Gatherer, Goku, and Vegeta all left. Naruto searched the room for the the ones the Gatherer had referred to as team Luffy and saw that it was the man with the straw hat and the man with the three sword’s. Hmph, Naruto thought. Too bad for those losers that they were being sent home early. It would have been fun to mess around with them in the finals. Naruto looked around and saw Ren and Yoh. Of course there was a score to settle with Ren, Maybe that would be better. No wait, he thought, as turned his attention to Yusuke and Kuwabara, Those two are the ones that he would like to face most of all in the finals. Hmm, he thought as he sat down, this might not be that bad after all. He let Sasuke have the first watch as he pulled himself to sleep envisioning beating everyone, even Goku, in this tournament. Maybe, just maybe, he could do it he thought.
