Backstory | House Of Kona Ep 1

These past few days were not what he expected. It’s been ages since he’s been home and he is confused as to what he should do. He’s not looking for a fight. That’s not why he came home. He ponders on his brothers words as he sits and meditates by the pool, the same place he’s been since his brother left.

“Uncle?” … silence … “It’s 0900 Tuesday morning. Father will be expecting an answer. He said to meet him at his office in Kumagakure.” … still, silence … “if there’s nothing else …”

“Sari, …” he says as he stands. “yes Uncle?” He turns around to face her, “Thank you.” With his final words, he lifted one arm straight into the sky and vanished into a tornado. “Wind element?! How strange.” says Sari.

Sitting in his office, the Shichidaime Raikage also known as Kona Aina, wonders if forming an alliance with Konoha and Suna is a wise thing to do. It’s not that there’s a hatred between the countries, just of a “you leave us alone, we leave you alone.” The former Kages were prideful but patriotic. It’s also this patriotic quality that is evident in the current Raikage. He doesn’t quite agree with the message he recieved from the Mizukage, but what he said was true, (quoting the letter) “If Konoha falls, we all fall.” Akatsuki has fallen and their mission has failed, but Pein is still alive. War is still inevitible.

“Sir? … It’s 1150. It’s time.”
He thinks to himself, “Nalu, I’m sorry for putting you in such a predicament.” He breathes in deeply, “Okay, I’m ready.” He rises from his desk and heads towards the door. He looks back, out the window, and walks to the Council Chamber.

Noon Tuesday

The council of elders and advisors have assembled and await to hear from the Raikage. The double doors open and a voice says, “All rise”. Everyone stands. “Announcing the Shichidaime Raikage of Kumagakure, Kona Aina.”
“Please be seated.” Everyone sits down, waits and listens. “About three days ago, I received a message from the Mizukage. A message of well wishes, prosperity and hope for our future. Further along in the message, there was a warning. A grim and dark revelation has been made. Pein is alive.” The elders murmur amongst themselves. “And so is Kabuto, Orochimaru’s manservant. They seem to have made an alliance and have started conquering small villages. It is not known if their objective is to once again capture the nine bijuu, but whatever they are planning, we can not afford to sit idly by. The Mizukage has proposed a meeting of the kages at Konoha, to discuss this new threat and how we should proceed. Council, what are your thoughts?”

An immediate uproar takes place. Everyone trying to make a plea and prove their case. “Sir, we can’t afford it! We’re still trying to recover from our losses from when Kurogyouten attacked three years ago! I totally disagree!” “We can’t get involved just yet. I say we wait to till the other kages jump on board too. There’s no sense in us getting involved if it’s not supported by everyone!” Another elder says, “I say we go for it. Honestly, what have we got to lose? The message didn’t say anything about going to war, just a meeting. I say we hear what the Mizukage proposes and make our decision then.” The Raikage closes his eyes as they start to burn. He realizes why they burn and smiles just a bit.

“I second that motion,” said a voice from the back of the room. “Who said that? Who’s there?” asked Kodani, elder and leader of Roku province. “This is a closed meeting. Please leave.” “But I was asked to be here by the kage, himself.” said the voice. A rush of wind came from through out the room as a whirlwind appeared next to the kage’s desk. Four men jumped quickly to protect the Raikage as a precaution. “We all remember what happened three years ago, and what happened the year before that at Konoha, now what would happen if the Kurogyouten joined up with Pein and Kabuto?” The whirlwind slows down and the image of a man can be seen on the inside. “As much as I do not want to get involved, I know this is in the best interest for my country.” The whirlwind disapates and Nalu stands before them speaking, “If war is inevitable, I want to make sure I’ve done all I can to protect my home.” Some of the elders recognize Nalu and begins to talk amongst themselves. “We may not be a strong or as powerful as we once were, but with the support of Suna and Konoha, we’ll be alright. I say let the Raikage go to meet with the other kages. What harm will it do to hear their proposal?”

Three hours pass by and a decision has finally been made. The Raikage speaks, “Thank you everyone for your input. I know that some of you do not agree, my brother has even stated that he doesn’t agree, but for the best interest of our country and our village, we will proceed and meet with the other kages in Konoha. We will leave immediately. Meeting adjourned.” A carrier pidgeon flies off with a message to the Hokage, “We agree. Meet in five days. Shichidaime Yanda.”
