Shikamaru the Legend

Shikamaru Nara, leaf village shinobi, son of the Nara clan, appeared in this series like an ordinary shinobi – but he wasn’t! He started off as an ordinary kid in the academy, playing pranks on his sensei and teacher Iruka along with Naruto and the other students. Not long after that he met his best friend Chouji, another student, and son of the Akimichi clan. They became friends after he witness Chouji being kicked out of their childhood ninja games because he was too fat. Not interested in the game in the first place, Shikamaru left and joined Chouji to stare at the clouds like a bunch of ‘grandpas’, from then on they were inseparable even forming team “ShikaCho” for the time being (later naming it InoShikaCho because of a new friend they met in the Academy Ino Yamanaka). Ironically, we find out later in the anime that their fathers were the original InoShikaCho!
We witnessed Shikamaru’s personality as lazy and uninterested but also noticed that he had the mind of not only a wise grandpa but one of the smartest shinobi in the village, his IQ is well over 150. His brain power made him a force to be reckoned with, taking down ninja during the chunin exams that his ability alone shouldn’t be able to stop. He has a simple but interesting technique, the Shadow Imitation jutsu; which he can stretch his shadow to bind the movements of his opponent(s). I know what you are thinking, there could be a lot of ways to avoid that ability but you are forgetting his intelligence. Shikamaru can think of over 200 battle plans and enact them in his head. The son of the Third Hokage, and Shikamaru’s sensei, Asuma Sarutobi, tested Shikamaru’s abilities. With his unique jutsu and his immeasurable intelligence, he even outwitted Temari of the Sand Village; which is now his friend and in my opinion future girlfriend!
Shikamaru was recognized by not only his friends but was also recognized by the Third, who was very impressed with his talents. As a result, he was recommended as a chunin. His talents as a shinobi made him the only one to advance to the Chunin level, even above Naruto, Sasuke, and Neji. He showed is passion to protect the leaf and his friends during the anime and the mangas by leading the shinobi in his age group on many missions. During the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, Shikamaru fell into a difficult position becoming a leader. After seeing the responsibilities of becoming a leader, he vowed to never put his friends in a position to die. Shikamaru has developed into such a leader that he now put his teammates first!
Shikamaru seemed the same at the beginning of the Shippuuden episodes as he did earlier on in the series but he had grown even stronger and smarter than ever. In fact, the biggest distinction between then and now is that he grew so strong that he was able to defeat an Akatsuki single handedly after the Akatsuki killed his sensei, Asuma Sarutobi. But as we witnessed in the manga chapter 406 he has put Asuma’s death behind him only remembering the good times they shared. He now believes he has duties that his teacher left him and is determined to carry them out. One of his duties now includes watching over Kurenai and Asuma’s unborn child- whom he will mentor in the future! He passed this knowledge and new idea of responsibility of the future to Naruto.
This is the Shikamaru we have come to know and love because of his smart and strong nature and the love he has for his village and friends! Asuma even believed that he has the potential to be hokage, and you know what? I believe that he can too! In a way he kinda reminds me of the third hokage!
interesting blog..it seems your opinion about shikimaru differs from mine……i dnt realy like him…the moment he killed hidan, i disliked him..hidan was so cool….Shika is a ok fighter, no doubght. but i dnt understand why some of the genins over took him to become jounins and he remained churnin….and i think if anyone is gonna become next hokage in the villiage, it should be NEJI….hes like an ultimate Pwner after sasuke……….the main reason i dnt like shikamaru is because it seems like his brain is good enough to beat anyone.. that’s so unfair
He is one of the coolest characters in Naruto, and probably most suited for the position of Hokage.
Although I can see him as being a trusted advisor to future Hokages, because of his unique ability to think on his feet and not let his emotions get in the way.

Yh 8th i think. I havent beem top10 in ages. Yh Shikamaru is the man he reminds me so much of me sometimes. But then again you gotta do what you gotta do really and he does it when it needs to be done. Good Job Yellowflash Naruto2

Shikamaru is a very skilled ninja.He should be a jounin by now.He helped Konoha many times.And he is the only chounin that in this age took out an Akastuki member on his own.
Shikamaru is one of the top Konoha ninjas.He could be Hokage first than Naruto BUT here we come to how LAZY he is.He’ll find the whole Hokage job “troublesome”.And he’ll keep saying “What a drug” in his office.
But one thing is sure.Shikamaru Naara is one of the best Konoha nin because he is very clever and a strong ninja.
Naruhina1 do you really think that Sasuke could become Hokage..You said after Neji ,Sasuke is next or something.PLEASR don’t tell me that Sasuke has the brain to be Hokage.He is puppet everyone can manipulate him.He can’t control him self.I agree about Neji but Sasuke never.
SASUKE HOKAGE?! Worst idea ever. no offense. He’s waaay to selfish, he would be cool to lead a clan but never a country. He’d declare war on everyone! I mean….If he calmed down and became not evil he has the skillz to lead but i dont think so, and Neji? maybe. Id prefer shika or Naruto though

there were a lot of grammer issues with this, you should stick with writing fanfic, it was a lot better…
well, Shika isn’t Hokage material…he could be Jounin now… but he thinks it’s too troublesome… he never wanted troublesome ranks… he always wanted a normal ninja life or something (in the very beggining of the series he says so)

don’t get me wrong…he’s probably stronger than each and everyone in Konoha …*notice the uncertainty in my tone* …but nobody in his right mind, would choose Sasuke as a Kage…. in fact i hope Sasuke never goes to Konoha… it would be really lame… i want him to take control of his country, but he’s not for Konoha…and he hates everything Konoha stands for….

@sephroth…..sorry i dint make my comment clear….i didnt mean that sasuke could become hokage…i meant that neji should become hokage..and that neji is an ultimate pwner after sasuke is..meaning that sasuke is a bigger pwner than neji is……i agree, sasuke cannot be hokage,. but there is no denying that he pwns….
about shikamaru being hokage,.. he might think that being hokage is troublesome, but i dnt think he can handle the job, strength wise… before people begin shooting bullets at me because of the comment, just think about it..if another ninetailed fox incident were to happen in konah, shikamaru might aswell consider the leaf villiages population as 0% or is he gonna use shadow posession on the fox………it seems like the quality of ninja in the leaf villiage from the first hokages generation differs greatly from the ninja generation now…..i spit on candidates of the 6th hokage.
Shikamaru is probably the best candidate for Hokage – almost wault to Kakashi. He is smart, calm, great at strategy… Sadly Kishi didnt made him grow more as a figther, a mean about the quality of kis jutsus.

i have heard allot of rumors about kakashi being hokage..is it true?…..why cant anyone measure up to the previous hokage’s talents …….i mean, after one hokage comes an even weaker one……it goes like this….there is the first hokage, then a weaker second hokage, then a weaker third hokage…(the only exception along this cycle is the fourth)… then there is a weaker 5th hokage, then although we do not not who the 6th hokage will be, all the candidates are not as good as tsunade….this cycle is totally the opposite of what should have happened…..come to think of it, konoah had super ninjas like madara, itachi and sasuke….if these people were good, they will have totally been candidates for hokage..
I think the 3rd was pretty darn good.

so, if Tsunade were to have a deadly end … it must be a spectacular end… preferably with fireworks.
So, if shikamaru were to become Hokage, I think his shadow binding technique would need to spread where we see a Sea of Shadows lurking and looming the entire village of Konoha. And then if the shadow feels an enemy, it’ll leap into its throat and prevent the enemy from breathing. Now that would be a sure sight to see.
I don’t think that shikamaru would like the job of hokage.Btw sephiroth,the quote is”what a drag”not drug.Anyway,sasuke would be perfect for hokage.It’s a good thing for everyone.He could help konoha in the process while reviving his clan.Geez,he isn’t easily manipulated,hes just driven by emotion.Depression hurts and you cant cure it.It’s just like AIDS.

Great blog Yellowflash Naruto2. Shika is one of the best shinobi from leaf village and he deserve respect…..although,I don’t think that he is a Hokage material but maybe in future he will be a general of defense or he will do some other important job.
