Naruto Chapter 398: Dark Secrets of Konoha’s Past

After waiting for two weeks, we finally get the continuation of Madara’s conversation with Sasuke. A lot of history and old secrets will be revealed in the next couple of chapters. And from the looks like it, we will get a whole new perspective on Konoha, Itachi and the Uchihas after all this is over. I really want to know EVERYTHING now, but it looks like Kishi is planning to unveil everything in bite-size morsels :6
Although Sasuke doesn’t want to admit it, I think he knows that everything Madara is saying is the truth. But for him, who has devoted the majority of his life just to kill Itachi, it must be very difficult accept the notion that Itachi had been protecting him all along. Sasuke’s mind is in such shock that he even begins to slip into a trance-like state. The way he started talking to himself kinda reminded me of how Gaara was like when he first appeared; notice the dark sags that have appeared beneath Sasuke’s eyes – this guy has been exhausted and probably hasn‘t had a good night‘s sleep in a while so it‘s natural that his mind begins to break down. Sasuke starts to get hysterical and Madara is forced to try to calm him down, eventually tying him to force Sasuke to listen quietly to what he has to tell.
Madara doesn’t begin revealing the dark secrets behind Itachi straight away, but he does offer some hints. One is that the only Leaf leaders that know everything about the truth of Itachi are the Third Hokage, his former teammates and now Konoha councillors, Homora and Koharu, and the leader of Roots, Danzou. But I also think since Minato Namikaze was also a Hokage, he should have had access to this knowledge and this may help explain his actions in sealing Kyuubi in Naruto. Danzou’s knowledge of Itachi is probably why he ordered Sai to assassinate Sasuke in his first mission with Team Kakashi. It appears that Itachi wanted to prevent Sasuke from encountering Madara at all costs – likely in order to prevent something disastrous from happening. Danzou may have known about this as well, and ordered Sasuke’s elimination to ensure that Madara never gets his hands on him.
Itachi never trusted Madara and hid the “truth†from him until the day he died, but he never realized the extent of what Madara had already learned about him. For insurance, Itachi planted his Amaterasu inside Sasuke to take out Madara in order to prevent a scenario like the one taking place currently from occurring. It seems Itachi wanted to keep the “truth†hidden from Sasuke even after he had died. Why Itachi did this is becoming more and more clear as Madara begins to talk. He tells Sasuke that the massacre of the Uchihas was all done under orders given to Itachi by the Leaf’s leaders – does this mean that the Third Hokage had knowledge of what was going to happen or maybe even gave the order? It makes sense that someone from Konoha’s top brass ordered the Uchihas to be wiped out because nobody else would have the power to cover it up so well. Perhaps the reason why Itachi hid this knowledge from Sasuke is because he knew his little brother would begin to view Konoha as his enemy and turn against everyone. Perhaps Itachi’s greatest fear is that Sasuke would grow into someone like Orochimaru, whose hate for Konoha is so great that he has devoted his life to see that it is utterly destroyed. Perhaps this is why he made Sasuke hate him and him only.
But the question is still why would anyone from Konoha’s leadership want their most powerful shinobi clan to be wiped out? Madara states that the reasons goes back to the founding of Konoha and that Itachi is just one sacrifice in a long line of fatalities. Konoha was founded over 80 years ago, back then shinobi wars were common and unrelenting. In that time period, each clan and family did not owe allegiance to a specific Hidden Village, but offered their services to whoever was the highest bidder. Among all the clans, the two strongest by far were the Uchiha clan and the Senju clan of the Forest. During that time, a young Madara Uchiha was revered as the most powerful of his clan. Madara used every resource he had, even his own brother, to obtain more power, ultimately obtaining the eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. It was inevitable then that he would eventually be pitted against the greatest ninja in that era, the leader of the Senju clan and the future First Hokage, Hashimara Senju.
So I guess next chapter we’ll finally get to learn more about the hidden past of the First Hokage. Can’t wait

First off i would like to sa that this chapter presents an opportunity for sasuke to become a villian or that he would try to destroy konoha.and i dont blame him,if i were him my first goal would be to try to destroy madara,by using konoha and their allies.then after madara is dead and he would return to konoha,& now its time to KILL the village elders and danzou.but i dont see it happening like that.UNLESS the uchiha clan was going to something REALLY BAD i can see why they would have been killed.BUT i cant see that happening,itachis father seemed devoted to konoha.what if itachi told the elders,danzou, & sandaime about madaras plan and thats why they ordered the execution ? but if so then why would madara help itachi kill the clan ? i mean who wants to kill their most powerful shinibi clan? if they ordered the clan to be killed,why not kill sauke? hes an uchiha.maybe that was the one person itahci persuaded them to let live.maybe he wanted for sauke to bring the clan up the RIGHT WAY!this makes me think back to all of sasuke flashbacks to that day when those 3 uchiha ninja came to itachis house.he was right to say that he has lost all HOPE for their pathetic clan,and that REAL CHANGE can not occur under the surcum stances that they hold on to their titles,clan, and lineage.AND as athlete and a mature peron i find that to be so true!
Its obvious that madara has some plan for sasuke since the last few chapters and he mentions it again and again about how itachi wanted to keep them from meeting.im now leaning to believe that itachi was way more mature than sasuke in that he was okay with doing the mission,and he did not want sasuk to know becuse then sauke would become bad and turn against konoha.and one more thing is that itahi knew the full story,but sasuke is only getting madaras version,WHICH I BELIVE IS THE TRUTH.i kishi is just using madara to tell the story.it would appear that madara can be a very manipulative person,like how he says things then i does a close up of his eye,we see his eye squinting in a way.like hes trying to control and pry into sasukes mind(i feel bad cuz some of the things im taliking about Bob has already mentiond… So sorry if it seems like im copying)
after looking at the last volume cover i think,where it had itachi and sauke with some purple background.well i seem to pay close attention to the volume covers now.somewhere in the back of my mind i cant help but think that sasuke will become an apprentice of madara from looking at the cover.
i really like sasukes new and old outift, and i really like how they have the sharingan in the kyuubis eye.it kind of reminds me of what sasuke did to manda to escape deidaras bomb ?
at one point i felt really confused about why madara had that (…!) i guess when he went into that rage mode(thanx bob for clarifying that for me) i guess it surprised him.
when madara spoke of how the ninja clans had no loyalties but just fought for the highest bidder.i though for sure they were going to say the hyuuga and uchiha,but it was the senju and the uchiha.i thought the hyuuga were around since the founding of konoha.Why werent the Hyuuga around & Where the hyuuga that inferior to the uchiha and senju ? im not sure if it was a bad translation,but in the episode when konoha begins to finally attack back against orochimaru.when the enemy ninja came to the Hyuuga area.Lord Hiashi said the hyuuga were the strongest in konoha.was he saying this because uchia clan was gone or was he just stating a fact ? im also really interested in all of those other clan symbols that were mentioned,but im sure we’ll never know because most of them are most likely all dead,like hakus clan!
this chapter for so informationl and i cant wait to see what happens in the next few months,because now i want to know everything.like i always thought that the Shodaime hokages ability to use wood element was something unique to HIM ONLY.i didnt think it was a kekei genkai(but it makes since when i think about it).the hyuuga only marry(supposed to marry) other hyuuga,and becasue of this their byakugan is in everyone.the sharingan only occured in certain members of the uchiha,because they married outside their clan,which made the clan(members with sharingan)smaller, on top of the massacres occuring in the clan.so if the wood element was a kekei genkai then it would explain why Tsunade cant use it.by the time she was born the blood line trait had become too diluted/watered down.

Bob, you have brought up an interesting fact there about the 4th Hokage having acces to Konoha’s Top Secret Information…..
Than if the 4th knew about this conspiracy behind the Uchiha massacre, is it why Madara wanted to destroy Konoha, so fast? …. and with it all those who knew the truth?
Or is the 4th a collateral victim… did the 3rd and Danzo want to avoid leaking information to the 4th…..i would think that Sarutobi would want to protect the Hokage somehow, but i am unsure about their motives…..

Besides if what madara is saying is “True”, What will Naruto think if or when he finds out about this?The Village of the future Hokage took out his best friends whole clan.

I know this if off the subject, but can someone intelligently tell me why Pein is taking orders from Madara if his eye technique is supposedly more powerful than anything seen so far in Naruto. I have an inkling that those two will face off in combat, and that may answer my question. I think Kishi has left the door open for Pein to be a good guy given his unpredictability. Naruto’s greatest power is to influence others. He did it to Gaara, Neji, and to some degree Sasuke. I think he will do the same with Pein. Pein will fight Madara eventually, and Naruto will have to fight Sasuke. I do not see those two becoming friends ever again as many of you have forecasted. I see a scenario where those two will parallel the Madara and the First Hokage
Now on the subject of this mess that has been presented to us by Kishi. I think question of who to believe is fundamental in understanding what the hell is going on. I think, and I underscore think, Madara is telling the truth, and everything that we know about Konaha is about to change. Nothing can justify killing a whole clan. Women, children, the old, those with the sharigan, those without it, and everyone in between was killed. I have a theory. It’s shaky, but It makes the most sense. Madara for whatever reason “befriended” the First Hokage, they being the most powerful shinobi decided to unify. Now on a side note. Is it weird that even with an eternal never ceasing MS, Madara at his prime was still weaker than the First Hokage. Madara even said he was the greatest shinobi of that generation. What is it with him? Anyways, they argued of leadership, mainly over leadership and Madara’s pursuit of power. Hell if Madara could snatch the eyes from his own brother he would backstab anyone. So the only thing he respects is power. And as previously mentioned the First was the more powerful. I think there beef also centered around how the MS is obtained, and what can be done with it. Namely the controlling of The tailed beasts. Now it seems that both those two could tame them, so it would seem that the stability of the world rested on those two. I’m thinking Madara wanted a totalitarian rule, and I’m assuming The First was more in favor of a democratic nation. Now to the point of obtaining MS. It is gained through intense training only. Kakashi, Madara and his brother, and I am willing to bet Itachi obtained this power through sheer hard work, and I think with some form of interaction with the tailed beasts, primarily the nine-tails.
Nice chapter and blog again. First off, I doubt Konoha is “BAD”, but I don’t think they executed the most moral decision if what Tobi is saying is true.
I bet there was a good reason for Konoha to give those orders, like the clan along with Madara were planning some sort of takeover to over through the Hokage and the “higher-ups,” in the village, but when Itachi found out about this he decided to do the right thing.
As the only person Itachi felt true emotions for, Sasuke was spared as a means to preserve the sharingan bloodline, and a possibility to one day revive the clan, the right way.
The only problem with this theory is why would Itachi go to Akatsuki and train under Tobi if he was the one that stopped his plans with the Uchiha clan. My speculative answer is that he is acting as a spy for Konoha, that only those 3 people that Tobi talked about, know. And as Tobi said before, Itachi didn’t know just how much he knew about him, meaning Itachi didn’t know Tobi knew about him being a Konoha spy.
So as a last attempt to keep his beloved brother out of Tobi’s clutches, he tried the Amaterasu trick and probably hoped his brother would never find out about any of this, and live the right way, and revive the Uchiha clan the right way, and would never be tempted to hate Konoha by Tobi.
But now, Tobi has gotten to Sasuke, and is exposing him to that truth Itachi never wanted him to know, and might be warped to believe Konoha is the enemy, and that is when we will finally see the Naruto-Sasuke rematch we’ve all been waiting for. However I believe if Tobi deceives Sasuke into following him, Sasuke will at some point, turn on Tobi, kill him, and make his older brother proud by living a better way.

At first I thought like tensai that the sharingan in the kyubii’s eye was the symbol of madra controling the kyubii but it may show a deeper meaning about how the sharingan is tied to the kyubii because the kyubii is the tengue demon (Madra’s father) and how they are both sealed. also I think the first’s problem with madra was definatly the obtaining of the MS and that is why the clan was eliminated (because madra was secretly trying to get more uchiha’s with the EMS. The hyuga clan is the mightiest in kohana NOW but was overshadowed by the senju and uchiha clans.
Mart1 Kyuubi and Tengu demon are two differnt beings.(they are both demons)Can you imagine the Kyuubi mating with a Hyuga.(
)Or a Hyuga accepting to somehow bring Kyuubi’s child in the world.Then again Madara controled the Kyuubi like a pet.His father the Tengu demon is more powerful than the Nine Tails.And maybe thats why madara is gathering the beasts.Not to put them into Akatsuki members but to help him kill or absorb Tengu demon’s powers.(many believe this theory)
And just to throw in there, nice call silver uchiha about Itachi saying before his death, “Your eyes are mine.” As in “Your eyes will now be just like mine,” rather than, ” I’m going to take your eyes.”

my internet still dosen’t work. Sepiroth there is that, naruto is now going on a B-rank mission, and at the end when it tells you whats going to happen in the next episode it talks about the 12 shinobi guardsmen and while this could just be talking about asuma and the monk it seems like all 12 will be involved. Could the figures be Pein or some of the 12 themselves?

I know I’m talking quite alot but, why can’t the kyubii have a child with the hyuga clanswomen? I mean the tengu is getting laid and I read somewhere that the mythical creature the kyubii was based off of was known to shapeshift frequently and trick mortals

1) Among the Clan symbols on the last chapter I only recognised the NARA’s and Uchiha’s symbol, But we don’t even know the symbols of all clans. There may be some interesting Kishi clues again.
2) Konoha is not bad or evil. Maybe Danzou, or say the Root, or some other faction decided to act against the Uchihas. Bad the third will not have ordered de massacre of civilians. The Third may have been told that Itachi killed the clan to protect Konoha, or that Madara do so and Itachi went with him to spy his organization (just us I said in my post)
3) Madara will not tell the hole true. Remember that he say a few chapter ago “if Sasuke and his team found out what our plans that wont be good†or something similar.
Silver you genius, we all seem to be forgetting that Madara is anevil bastard and will prob do anything to get his own way, ESPECIALLY like to the only remaining uchiha. There could even be the chance of him wanting more eyes but i havent thought that through at all.
it seem konoha’s dirty secrets are coming out. What we are getting in Madara’s interpetation of Konoha’s past.There probably some truth to what Madara is saying. I am sure some important details were left out just to get sasuke to sympathize with Madara. Madara if he getts Sasuke on his side could turn Konoha into dust.

On the Other hand of my counter theory I have wonder if the Uchiha were allied to Madara, and decided to give Sasuke to him, Itachi would have act against then pro Konoha. But this would have not given an explanation of why Sasuke was let to live in hate.
The funniest thing is that when I begun to read this manga i believed that Sasuke was a kind of biju and that he killed the clan. My second theory then was the clan was alive and hiding. Anyway I was praying to see Itachi getting back to make team with Sasuke to save Konoha. But Kishi keep going -giving just droops of information, and code words.
Anyway, this has been my favourite chapter in a long time.
Well silver_uchiha maybe konoha isn’t bad or evil but it has some dark secrets as everyone does.And i don’t mean only Danzou.Come on none is perfect not even Konoha.
I think that the tengu demon is NOT madra’s father because of the fact that madra was revered when he was young AMONG THE UCHIHA CLAN however kishimoto is making a symbolic relationship between tengue demons and the uchiha’s similar to how the kyubii is a reference to the kitsiune a jappanese mythical creature

SU I believe Itachi wanted Sasuke to hate him and not Konoha. If there is any truth to Madara’s story, Sasuke would end up hating Konoha. To prevent this, Itachi wanted Sasuke to hate him. Thhrough the hate, Sasuke became stronger and was able to defend himself. Itachi wanted Sasuke strong enough to defend himself against any threat. I believe Sasuke is to be used as a pawn as Madara. To stop this, Itachi forced Sasuke to hate and want revenge. Itachi used himself to protect sasuke and fueled Sasuke to be strong enough to defend himself against Madara

sepiroth your forgetting that naruto and co. don’t know what saskue knows. I think that these people need to communicate better because all of this secrecy will lead to conflict and misunderstanding, which is exactly what kishi wants.
Iruka – I just think on what characters had say: Danzo said that “hate leads to war” – Pein said thar “shinobi live for war” – — So if Itachi wanted Sasuke not to follow Madara -Pein path, well hate was not the answer. There must have been a diferent way to lead him to forgiveness and understanding – I just dont found logic in Itachi actions, if what he really wanted was just to protec Sasuke – and -Konoha from Sasuke in the end.

That was off the chain once again. I must say i do believe that Minato must have been in this. Because i know that he wouldnt have put the nine tales fox in his one and only son for no reason. This looked it was planned from like day one. There is a much bigger picture then what’s actually going on. You could kind of tell this from the fact that we’re being brought back to 80 years ago when Konoha was founded. I think its something to do with ensuring safety in the village. Because with all those fights going on and the Uchihas being so powerful, there was bound to be someone to step out of line. In this case it is Madara. This you can tell as when Madara talks about Itachi is just a sacrafice in a long line of something (sorry i forgot just so much ideas running through my head). This could confirm this. Also this believes me to think that Minato and Naruto arent any ordinary ninjas. There must have been something either done to Naruto or Minato. Because in order to be able to fuse the kyuubi with naruto the 4th must have known there could have been very serious issues with its chakra being dangerous and possesive. So everything that is happening now may not all be coincidence but there are puppeters pulling the string behind the puppets. As in the lives of Naruto and Sasuke.

@ Grand_Hokage – I agree. Not only Jiraya hinted that Minato probable foresaw something – Also Itachi said something about “predictionsâ€, but in reference of the Uchiha clan .
So Minato, or Madara or someone of the past probably forsaw a great war or desaster or something. This information is part of the long long long list of secrets of Konoha. But those who know about it had taken extreme actions. I just think…
minato from being a hokage new the info on madara and about the kyuubi and the uchiha clan. to protect konoha and to prevent kyuubi from gettting into the hands of the uchiha put the kyuubi in naruto.Makes you wonder if if madara was in contact with the rest of the uchiha clan. He might of been preparing for war with the uchiha clan to war on konoha
If i am not mistaken in the first naruto, didn’t the third hokage ave a crystal ball to see things. I wonder if Sarutobi and minato would have been able to use the”crystal ball” to see the future. If it is still around, how come Tsunade is never seen using it. She could of foreseen event and prepared better for the future.So many questions have to be answered.
The Uchiha clan could have been in contact with Madara and in alliance with him. But also the uchiha could have been against Madara, and then they could have been Minato sauce of information.
But there was more behind Minato actions. Otherwise: why his son? Why in keep in secret Minato-Naruto blood relation? Why Jiraya asked himself if Minato had a premonition?
About The crystal ball, I only remember the Third using it to see what was going on at the boundaries of Konoha.

Mart1 i meant that if Sasuke joins Akatsuki he ”ll eventualy meet with Naruto.And if you see a guy in a black robs with red clouds on it in naruto universe you won’t think that this is hallowen.
I think we should look for a few hints in the cover, like the Kyuubi in chains, and Sasuke facing the Kyuubi and Madara, but with his back at us….or with his back at Konoha
1. The Chained Kyuubi means the control that the Sharingan has over it….and even the Kyuubi’s eyes have a Sharingan pattern ( if you look closely)
2. Sasuke’s stance….well here there might be 2 explanations….it’s either Madara’s way or the Highway ….
it’s either Sasuke facing Madara and the Kyuubi, which may very well mean, that Sasuke falls under Madara’s influence….and wants to destroy Konoha…..who knows what Madara might tell him in chapter 399
or Sasuke faces the Kyuubi … which is trapped in Naruto…and goes back to Konoha

what concerns me is how easily the past can be distorted and because u weren’t there u dont get the whole story. i think madara is telling the parts of the truth to get sasuke to bend to his wishes maybe. danzo is beginning to prove a bigger problem than he first appeared plus we wtill dont know his full motives. i agree with Grand_Hokage Minato and Naruto are far from ordinary ninja and i thin Minato knew this plus what Jairiya say Minato foresaw that may have lead him to seal the fox in his son.
As for the Uchihas why was Madara there that night when Itachi took out the whole clan? Didn’t Itachi say the Madara was the other man there that night? so him being there could support the Uchiha being against Madara theory (cause the clan was against him)….but if the Uchiha we against Madara, why did Itachi get orders to kill them all, wouldn’t Sarutobi sensei want to use the uchiha to fight Madara!? is the truth being twisted here?
since the uchiha and senju clan were the most powerful clans, and the two clan leaders became best friends.wouldn’t it make sense that naruto is a decendent of the senju clan somehow.

yeah, seems that all things got messy this time…madara, telling an old story, sasuke needs to believe in. My assumption about this is quite simple. Its deception!!… if th elders of konoha has plan to get rid of uchiha clan, why then sasuke left alive up to now? they have a lot of chances to bring orders to kill sasuke from the beginning, yet they didnt do such for a reason different from what madara is telling now…maybe at first we are use to believe since it coincide to the past events…but the rest is to convince sasuke to go against konoha and take for revenge…what madara is doing is simply to awake vindictive feelings of sasuke against his former home, konoha. If uchihas were threat to konoha, why then the first allow them to live? why then the second allow them to live? if sarutubi has that great concern of his people, why then he spare all the life of this clan for the sake of their hideous reasons. if the elders are of the stronghold of konoha, they know that uchiha were assets of the village, thus why they order itachi to do such things? Is it also that madara was the one ordered it, and not anyone else?

ok so oro-sanin and the first look a little alike but thats it cause he stole the 1st DNA to try and have his power. I think the senju clan or at least HAshirama had an edge over MAdara. Madara said that Hashirama stood at the top of the shiobi world and that he admired him the most. For want of power Madara fought Hashirama and Lost so there most have been something quite unique aout the first.
I dont know if there is a direct connection between the 1st, 4th and Naruto But I think like them NAruto will come to stand at the top of the Shinobi world (not just because he’s the story’s hero).

I agree they maybe a connection between the First and Naruto. Kakashi stated “Naruto and Sasuke…Your live are like theirs” at the Valley of the End. Naruto still need to learn a new jutsu to take on Akatsuki. It would be nice if Naruto was part of the Senju Clan. I would love if Naruto could learn the Bringer of Darkness jutsu of the Second. Plus if he learn the Yellow Flash with these jutsus Naruto would have no problem defeating Madara or Sasuke (if he turn to the dark side).

no no no….yes, Oro stole the 1st Hokage’s DNA to have it’s power, but he didn’t actually manage to use it, he thought that all of his test subjects were dead, so he didn’t know about Yamato being alive & stuff…’cept until they met eachother on the Tenchikyo Bridge, since before we first saw Sasuke in Shippuuden.

The Kyuubi with the Sharingan eyes makes me think that he was under Madara’s influence. When the first and Madara battled it prob was for control of the kyuubi. Because of the first unque powers he was able to subtdue the kyuubi.The subdue prob lasted for a till around when Naruto was born.Madara wasable to summon the Kyuubi. Minato from his knowledge of being a hokage knew of Madara’s plans and sealed the Kyuubi.
This was an interesting chapter. I just can’t wait to see what lies ahead in Konoha’s past. Funny that I never saw Itachi as a “bad guy”, and he turns out to be better than what we all thought. Also funny how we now understand why none of konoha was there to defend the slaughter of the uchiha clan.

Danzo was from the Senju clan? He fought for the title of Hokage, lost to Sarutobi-sama, and than formed Root with the goal to wipe out the only rival to the Senju clan, the UCHIHA, that would explain the massacre, but wasn’t Itachi an ANBU Regular, and not from Anbu root.
P.S. USE TEH FORUMZZ PEOPLEEE, THEY’RE MOAR FUN, AND THE DAMN BLOG IS WAY OVER-COMMENTED ON!!!
And there i’m not saying that the only goal of Root is to wipe out the rivals of Senju, but the rivals of Konoha, so Danzo must’ve thought the Uchiha’s a menace to Konoha, it also explains why he sent Sai to assassinate Sasuke, BUT by covering it up saying that he is a missing-nin, and needs to be tracked down and killed.
And Sasuke was a threat because he was going to be Orochimaru’s new body( container ).
I’m also wondering how the Sannin fit into this entire mess. I mean, who was Jiraiya’s contact who provided him with information about Akatsuki? It could just be some obscure character we never meet, or it could be Itachi, although I really doubt that. Considering the connection between the Sannin and the Third, I think there’s a very high possibilty that they knew about this as well, or at least suspected something.
My second thought is kinda off topic from this chapter. But I truly don’t think Pein is a bad guy. A typical plot in a lot of the naruto story deals with people being “tools” to further another’s goals. Many times these “tools” are even stronger than the hands controlling them, but because they believe in the dream of the manipulator they follow blindly. I think it is inevitable that Pein will realize at one point that his hope for an ideal world does not fit into Madara’s plan to have complete power.

Hey Arex the point you just made is actually Gold (the 2nd one that is) I actually 100% agree with this point it would actually make alot of sense. I believe that Madara may have encountered him when he was young. So pein could have been easily influenced by Madara as pein was quite exposed at a young age and was quite fragile.
Hey guys i just came up with a great idea. Well you see the 1st Hokage amd Madara Uchiha they thought in the valley of the end. One was of the Senju clan and the other was of the Uchiha clan. Well that reminds me of the fight between Naruto and Sasuke. Which leads me to think that Naruto just maybe of the senju clan. As would add up not only this but i think him and Sasuke will meet there again for a final fight. Where Naruto would overcome this time.
This i think because i believe that the 1st Hokage Hashimara Senju defeated Madara Uchiha in the valley of the end so I believe Naruto will defeat Sasuke to. Furthermore I believed the Hashimara Senju beat Madara Uchiha because Madara summoned the nine tailed fox after their fight perhaps because he wasnt able to beat him as they were arguing over political issues and who would probably rule. Madara wasn’t looking to agree with the terms that Hashimara Senju gave him.
So he just looked to destroy Konoha with the nine tailed fox. Ad he knew he couldnt defeat Hashimara Senju first hand. So come back later when he thought that the village was weak. However a descendant of Hashimara Senju, Minato was there to protect Konoha again.
So now Madara is now looking to Sasuke to carry on his legacy. To destroy Konoha
(This is probably why he is telling Sasuke about Konoha having something to do with the DEATH of the Uchiha clan so his hatred would grow and then he would wantto destroy Konoha). As a result Naruto with the Nine Tailed Fox within him, put in him by his father who knew that it would come to this and knew that Naruto was strong enough to handle the kyuubi. So Naruto is the last line of Konoha’s defence.

Maybe Sarutobi allowed Root to be formed as an extra way of protecting Konoha, you see Root is much stronger than the ordinary ANBU. Sarutobi was very passive to whatever was going on in Konoha, like when he turned a blind eye to what Orochimaru was doing…

I agree that oro looks like the 1st and that it would be cool if naruto was of the senju clans as i’ve already stated on the “Fall of Pein” blog but I think naruto would have shown some signs of having the senju kekkai genkai. I think that Minato was from some brach family that like the hyugas and uchihas split from the main branch of the senju clan. I also think naruto should lean more towards learning the seconds water style jutsu. I mean the 2nd has a massive chakra supply that allows him to do water style jutsu without water actualy present and naruto has a similar chakra supply that would allow him to do a hurricane jutsu by combining water & wind chakra. I think that the second might have had a similar jutsu because hokages need to know multiple chakra element jutsu.

For the record I checked the fight between orochimaru and the third, the only place where the hokages appear before the most recent chapters
i’m telling you, it’s been in the manga, for quite awhile, i just don’t remember anymore, it was also in the beginning of that manga, “the brothers that founded Konoha”….and who founded Konoha? Shodaime and Nidaime, Madara doesn’t count ‘coz he wanted another type of Konoha….therefore it are fact those 2 are brothers…..(unless the translation was wrong…which i doubt)

Hey GH, I know it was a little while back, but thanks for the props, much appreciated. I really like your points theorizing Naruto as a Senju. I still think there’s a lot more to the bloodlines of Minato, Kushina and Orochimaru than we probably could even guess.

I was hoping to point out that maybe, and only maybe, If Oro was born as a Senju, it could explain why he doesn’t have mokuton, neither does Tsunade….
And this is common in the Uchiha clan also, do you remember Sasuke’s uncle and aunt, that owned a shop, where they sold bread, neither did they have Sharingan…..
I know it seems very unlikely that Oro was a Senju, but i don’t know of a theory that dissaproves it…

Chaos here is a theory i have. Is tobi is part of the Uchiha clan because he has a Sharingan eye.

But still when they were about to die they would have the first form of sharingan.And the only scene of their death was Itachi’s illusion.Everything was red and black so even if they had it we couldn’t see it.I guess we will never learn.

apart from the little deviation into french class I think that i would have mattered that other members of the clan had sharingan. Itachi was to the the clans saving grace he was a type of Madara (back in his day) cause even among the Uchiha Itachi was gifted so it would not have been easy for any other to stand before him.

Un the uchiha clan, people were allowed to marry outside of their clan, so it seems logical that some people with uchiha blood would possess the potential to awaken the kekkei genkai and some wouldn’t. It makes me wonder if Sasuke/Itachi’s mother had the sharingan actually.
The Hyuuga clan inbreeds to ensure everyone in their clan develops the Kekkei Genkai of the Byakugan. (at least somebody said that before

I find it reasonable to believe, with what little I know of genetics, that Tsunade could have developed Mokuton, but dilution of the blood made it a lot less likely and she probably wasn’t blessed with the trait. If I’d seen anything about her chakra nature up to this point, I might have had some solid theories about whether she can use the Mokuton, but since all she ever does is blast people with raw chakra, who could know?
I do however strongly believe that Yamato could be a distant descendant of Shodaime. My reasoning being that I think he was a carrier of the trait and Oro’s molecular poking and prodding caused that gene to be expressed. It makes much more sense since he can actually use the Kekkei Genkai.
ZepWolfX perhaps because Minato knew something because there must have been a reason. Also we do not know whether he could subdue it or not. Because we know the senju clan is powerful but we dont know that much about what they can do. So we just have to wait and find out.
Septhiroth13. You dont always inherit the features from the people you descend from. Also Naruto isn’t as strong yes but look at Obito from the Uchihas he wasnt really that good compared to other Uchiha’s so being strong doesnt really count for that much. Its like a bonus really. By the way when you made that comment your english was incorrect you were using two tences at the same time. It’s Naruto isn’t like that not wasn’t. Maybe it will take time for Naruto to awaken his true ability. To be honest i think the senju’s clan powers are somehow related to summonings and the tailed beasts.

but there are famous for showing years later in some obscure branch of a family when everyone thought that the trait was lost forever, so there is still a strong argument for Minato and Naruto being senju, maybe it skipped Tsunade but blessed he with another gift that inhuman strength she has.
Genetic traits tend to mutate with time too so maybe Minato and Naruto have a mutated strain of the first Kekkei Genkai where wood jutsu is no longer needed but they can influence bijuu directly.

so with all of that said the Senju clan seems ro still be pretty strong in Konoha. And maybe there are other members with latent abilities. Konoha is one strong village!

Sakura…hummm that girls a bit of an ingima. She has always have super great chakra control and she was smart but she wasn’t considered an genius ninja because she wasn’t skilled in ninjutsu like say a neji or sasuke (both of whom had a powerful kekkei genkai).
Tsunade helped Sakura to push here chakra control to greater heights that now she can swat guys away with her pinky finger.lol
Even Kakashi pointed out that he chakra control was excellent. Cud she be a senju….we dont know…we know that a clan has many member and only a few blessed with the kekkei genkai but those are not the only gift in a clan….cud it be this super human strength and chakra control is a senju trait….my head is bursting with questions.

uchihas have the strenght to constantly have the sharingan activated for no particular reason, so if it shows an uchiha without the sharingan then theres is inactive (Saskue’s mom). this shows how some people inherit more or less of a kekkai genkai (Neji and Hinata). I think arex is right about yamanato being senju-related. Tsunade’s strength comes from chakra control, not kekkai genkai.
I wonder who yamato’s parents are because if he was in the senju clan branch wouldn’t they have stopped oro’s experiments?
tru mart but oro was pretty damn secretive and had dozens of labs scattered across the village. but even so i think they would have tried to stop him.unless sarutobi intervened, orochimaru was sarutonis pride and joy…..what do you think?

Just a thought, going back to chakra natures. I’d have to guess that medic-nin are typically wind-based chakra types, my reasoning being that the chakra scalpel is a cutting instrument, and to be a medic nin that is one of the primary tools in the arsenal. And even if it isn’t the medic-nin’s signature nature of chakra, they still need to have control over the wind element.
I guess this is a completely pointless comment, I’m just trying to figure out where Tsunade stands, so far looking at chakra natures, I believe she possesses wind and lightning. Mokuton is the simultaneous release of earth and water based chakra. I guess I’m trying to guess if there is any possibility she could have Mokuton.
Though it would seem to other two Sannin possess all five chakra natures, so there’s a good chance she does too and just hasn’t exhibited all of them as of yet.
Blah…though this is related to Naruto, for some reason I feel slightly spammy.
I think that med-ninja have a small expertise in each chakra element EX. the scalple=wind, removing poisn=water, and tsunade messing with the nervous system= lightning

hey, a little off topic, but has anyone else noticed that the shape of sasuke’s mangekyo is the exact same shape as Naruto’s wind release rasengan?
Two theories:
1) The Uchiha clan was destroyed because, through Itachi, Konoha figured out that it was someone in the Uchiha clan who released the 9-tailed fox on the village. It’s not so hard to believe Danzo (and even the ‘advisors’) could be this harsh…it’s a little hard to imagine the 3rd being quite so brutal, but if they didn’t know who in the clan was in on releasing the 9-tails then he might have gone along with it.
2) The Uchiha clan was up to something too just before they were destroyed. Remember the big Uchiha-only meeting that happened a couple of days before they were destroyed that Itachi missed (supposedly because he was out murdering Shisui to get the MS)? I think it’s possible that the Uchihas weren’t all innocent bystanders in their destruction, and that some, perhaps many, were complicit in Madara’s plans. The meeting was a chance for the Uchihas to discuss what to do next. Itachi skipped it because he was secretely working with Root and the 3rd.

Excellent observations Merlin.
As I posted after the previous week’s manga (and others too), I suspect that Itachi was in fact working for Root in some capacity. And even if it turns out that he was not, Root is very much involved in the Uchiha event. I think that much is pretty clear at this point. The ability to control the tailed beasts and Kyuubi in particular made them a very dangerous clan. And the bad blood that traces it’s roots (no pun intended ^^) back to the very founding of Konoha between the Uchiha and Senju clans along with the penchant for the Uchiha’s to acquire more power does add to the appearance that they were a serious and unpredictable threat. If they did go back to the “old” ways of selling the clan’s services to the highest bidder then that could have spelt the end of Konoha.
I also have the same “feeling” regarding Sarutobi and find it difficult to believe him capable of such a harsh response. But if we look back to the event involving Kurenai’s pupil Yakumo, we do see that when the lives and the future of the village are at stake Sarutobi is capable of making tough decisions. Granted sealing one girl’s powers and keeping her locked up in an institution is a far cry from wiping out an entire clan but then again an army of potential Sharigan users, some of which could control Kyuubi, is a somewhat bigger threat than a kekki genkai genjutsu user. At least I’d think so.
On a related note:
Danzo might be the one responsible for Madara’s comeback and the 9-tails. Danzo, to this day, is apparently still after the destruction of the village so that he can reshape it on his own terms. What if, way back when, Danzo helped Madara make a comeback and use the 9-tails to attack the village. Then, after the 4th was able to stop the 9-tails, Danzo and Madara attempted to cover up their involvement.
Then, once Itachi began to uncover some of the secrets of the Uchiha and informed the 3rd, isn’t it possible that Danzo advocated for the entire Uchiha clan to be destroyed to cover up his own involvement with Madara? Doesn’t this seem like exactly the sort of thing Danzo would do?

I considered that possibility too Merlin but it just seems incomprehensible that Danzo would want to utterly destroy Konoha. I mean who would be left to “rebuild” the city once Kyuubi did his thing?
It would seem that Danzo would simply want to take out the leadership and perhaps those loyal to them but leave the bulk of the village intact if he intended to rebuild the city to his liking. And if Madara had similar aspirations of rebuilding Konoha then he too would not want to completely destroy the village. Maybe Madara felt he has such total control over Kyuubi that he could control how much damage was inflicted on the village. I suppose perhaps Danzo might even have known that the First would die sealing Kyuubi but that seems a bit unlikely because that particular jutsu seems to be incredibly rare and has been equally rarely used.
So there is a distinct possibility that both Madara and Danzo shared a somewhat common goal. But why would Madara need Danzo? What would Danzo be contributing to the alliance? Little it would seem. And if Madara actually wanted to utterly destroy Konoha for revenge then that would be contrary to Danzo’s goals and he still wouldn’t need him for such a task. But perhaps Madara was simply falling back into the old hired gun mode of the Uchiha and Danzo was willing to pay him for his services and those of his “pet”. But here too I’m a bit skeptical because Madara seems to be far too driven by his own agenda to simply become a hired gun for Danzo.
Man I really do love this story and all the twists and turns and theories! I can’t wait for more of this to be reveled.

There are two things the med-ninja thing made me think of 1. What if naruto could master all the elements and the infuse all of them into one attack (One element for each finger) 2. there is a major flaw with the rasengan. Like the chidori (Which was based off of Rasengan) It leaves the user open to a counter attack. The chidori is used by sharingan users and can be manipulated into different attack forms so it makes up for this but what about the rasengan?
Quickly: mart1, the chidori’s problem is that requires a high striking speed (i.e., its user must move very quickly) to work. Rasengan does not. I believe that’s what the 4th meant.
As for what Danzo had to offer and what he would want:
1) I believe Itachi when he says Madara is a shell of himself. Furthermore, I believe that he’s regained a lot of power recently and I think he needed help in doing that. Danzo may have been able to provide assistance (for example, a body for Madara to inhabit). This would be more than sufficient price to pay.
2) I don’t think the Kyuubi was any more dangerous to Konoha than Orochimaru. Orochimaru stated pretty much explicitly that his goal was the total destruction of that village, and yet Danzo was willing to sign up. If Madara really could completely control the Kyuubi, then there’s no reason to believe the destruction would be any more complete than Orochimaru’s. Moreover, it’s been mentioned several times in the story that the tailed-demons have attacked many times in the past, and it’s never been described as utter, total, complete destruction from which nothing could survive.
Remember what Danzo’s goal was: he wanted to instill fear into any survivors in Konoha so that they would believe in his militaristic, hawkish, aggressive ways. Having the Kyuubi show up, handily defeat any ninja sent against it, smash up the village, kill half the people, and then leave really isn’t any different from having Orochimaru show up, kill all of the ninja, and take a bunch of young people away to do experimens on.
In other words: Danzo’s a crazy SOB who’s willing to do just about anything to get ahead. I have a feeling he’s being set up to become one of the next big villains.

What if Madara and Danzo are the same person? They’re both really old; they both want to destroy Konoha as it is an rebuild it in their own image; and, on top of all of that, they both cover half of their faces.

I just read the spoilers and it was confirmed(hopefully true so i dont sound like an idiot) that madara had nothing to do with kyubi attack on konoha, either did the senju, danzou and the elders, theres a greater power source here ,Im still convinced the 4th is not dead and is the mastermind behind the whole ”incident” that effected konoha, how Im not sure cal a gut instinct, just my opinion and your entitled to say its not right plus theres more secrets to be reaveled
