Naruto Chapter 390: Sasuke pulls an Orochimaru

The jet black flames of Itachi’s Amaterasu consume Sasuke’s own fireball within seconds. Sasuke is next in their direct line of fire, but Itachi shuts his right eye to stop the jutsu. In my opinion, Itachi could have had Sasuke beat at this point because, judging from Sasuke’s reaction, he was caught by surprise when the Amaterasu completely wiped out his own attack in an instant. But what’s the point of beating Sasuke by burning him into ciders when Itachi’s goal is to obtain Sasuke’s eyes?
Therefore, Itachi is fighting this battle with a handicap, he needs to play conservatively and can’t go overboard with his jutsus. He needs to keep at least Sasuke’s head in tact or else all of this would be pointless. Sasuke, on the other hand, has no need to hold anything back, so he has an edge over Itachi in this fight.
The Amaterasu is truly a frightening attack. It is a pinpoint fire jutsu because wherever Itachi focuses his vision on, the flames of the Amaterasu will explode from that point to attack the foe. Sasuke attempts to use his speed to get away from Itachi’s attack, but he must realize that it is futile; it is basically like trying to escape from the field of vision of someone who is a Sharingan master. The speed at which the Amaterasu can travel is based upon the speed at which Itachi can track his target, so even Sasuke will have a hard time trying to escape this one. Inevitably, the Amaterasu catches up with Sasuke. He attempts to shield himself with one of his demonic wing appendages from his Cursed Seal ability, but the Amaterasu consumes that like locusts and moves on to the main course.
Itachi lets the black flames burn until only part of Sasuke’s upper torso remains, the rest of Sasuke’s body has been reduced to ashes. But as he reaches down to recover his prize, Sasuke’s body crumbles to dust revealing a large crack in the roof which it was concealing. Below, inside the room where they first fought, Sasuke prepares to perform his counterattack on Itachi. Sasuke had used his Chidori to carve a hole into the ceiling right after the Amaterasu hit him. He then used a replacement technique from Orochimaru’s repertoire to “give birth†(kinda gross really) to a fully healed version of himself. You gotta give Sasuke credit for doing all that while being burnt alive by a flame that’s as hot as the sun.
Meanwhile, Itachi is in a very weakened state on the rooftop. Having had to use two Amaterasu attacks in a row has pretty much drained him of his chakra. This is why he was unprepared when Sasuke unleashed his Grand Fire Dragon jutsu right through the ceiling. Itachi manages to roll away from the first barrage but his right arm is badly singed by the second volley.
Sasuke’s attack leaves a huge gash in the roof from which he and Itachi are in direct sight of each other. Itachi’s right eye no longer appears to have the Mangekyou effect anymore, in fact it doesn’t even look like a normal Sharingan eye. My guess is that it’s pretty much shot and completely useless now. But Sasuke doesn’t look so hot himself and has to retract his Cursed Seal form. Itachi tells Sasuke to drop the tough guy act because his one good Sharingan can tell that Sasuke used up all his chakra already. Itachi knows that the replacement technique Sasuke used was one of Orochimaru’s moves, it is nearly undetectable but also consumes a huge amount of chakra. After Sasuke used his Grand Fire Dragon in the counterattack, he had depleted his entire chakra reserve.
However, Sasuke is not worried in the least and confirms that he is out of chakra. But Sasuke didn’t come unprepared for such a situation and has a final jutsu lined up for Itachi. He reveals that, like the Amaterasu, it is impossible to avoid because it is so quick that it will over in an instant.
The question on my mind after reading this great chapter is of course what is this final jutsu of Sasuke’s. Sasuke himself said that he was out of chakra, so what possible jutsu can he use? Well first of all, he can’t be completely out of chakra because his Sharingan is still activated and even that needs a small amount of chakra to maintain. But certainly Sasuke doesn’t have enough chakra left to pull off another Fireball, Chidori or even some type of genjutsu (besides Itachi‘s left eye is still good to counter with Tsukuyomi). A good possibility is that it’s a summoning technique because those can be prepared ahead of time and don’t usually require much chakra on the user since the summoned creature does the fighting. I also remembered back to chapter 309 when Sasuke raised his hand to use some kind of jutsu to finish off Naruto and the rest of Team Kakashi, but Orochimaru stopped him and told him there was no need to use “that jutsu†here. It’s possible that Sasuke had planned to use his “final jutsu†on Naruto back then, but Orochimaru stopped him because it would be overkill. The one clue we have about what Sasuke is gonna pull next is that thunderclouds begin to gather and it suddenly begins to rain – could the last move be some type of massive lightning jutsu? But to be an instant kill jutsu that requires almost no chakra, it’s gotta be something really special.

I’m still pondering over Zetsu’s words… About Sasuke absorbing Orochimaru… I hope now that Sasuke has exhausted his chakra, Orochimaru doesn’t somehow magically take over…
And as for Sasuke’ finishing move – it either has to be extremely fast, so that not even the Sharingan can see it, or massive enough to whipe out the whole temple, in which case it could be fatal to Sasuke as well…

Sasuke made a tiger seal before he was about to use that technique in chapter 309. Tiger seals are for fire techniques right? Also if Orochimaru is inside Sasuke, could it mean that Sasuke is able to use his chakra?

Nah Sasuke’s new technique can’t be of the sixth element because no one is allowed to have more than two elements beside someone who possesses the rinnegan.
Thaen how come Kakuzu, Orochimaru and Sasori could use more than 2? And Kakashi as well?
maybe sasuke sealed some off his chackra before the fight somehow, and now all he has to do is release the seal and use “that jutsu”. Maybe thats the preperation he took, to seal just enough chackra away for his final jutsu, and he sealed it away because he wanted itachi to think he was out of juice. We already know sasuke has tattoo’s for summoning shuriken so maybe he has a tattoo somewhere for summoning his own chackra.
Itachi’s right eye looks unhuman, and whatif sasuke, like *sasuke rulz* said, is going to do the self sacrifice thing. (Like Anklo tried on Orochimaru).

regarding tsunade – she really has to die, because naruto wont become a hokage in the end. So the place needs to be vacant. I think its inevitable that all three legendary senin are dead at the end of the series. Now regarding sasukes final jutsu – it has to be a sealed chakra as haruto said. There is no way sasuke could have hoped to wipe out whole team kakashi and now itachi with a jutsu requiring no chakra. Since he himself said he is prepared – i am almost sure he has some combination of storing chakra, summoning tattoo, or summoning scrolls ready for this final move. Remember how tsunade stored her chakra in the small square thingy on her forehead? it might be smth similar! Lets wait and we’ll see!

elerium I think you are on to something. I think Sasuke has stored up his chakra like what tsunade does. He will use that chakra for his final attack.My quees is that the trump card jutsu that Sasuke has is the ability to call forth lightning storms. He could direact the storm and have a lightning bolt hit Itachi and the rest of the temple.
I think Sasuke’s final jutsu is a special summoning technique. While he takes on Itachi, the rest of his team could be performing the special summoning somewhere else. But then again, Sasuke was never really a “team” player. Everyone just got in his way.
Or maybe, it was the “Final Death” like what he did to Orochimaru. A vision of his own death that was too overwhelming and killed him in the process. Dunno. Oh well
the chapter was pretty blah to me. im ready for the fight to be over and move on, hopefully sasuke can wrap it up next chapter =)

Looks to me like Itachi’s one eye is totally depleted. That goes to show that if you use your eyes too much you loose your sight. Is it kinda like the myth of watching porn? you decide! ;P hehe.
Nameless: Regarding 2 elements
When Kakashi was telling Naruto about the elements he stated that shortly after Chunin, you should be able to control two elements. All team leaders have control of two in order to advance.
People like Yamoto could even combine two to make a third; for example, earth in one hand and water in the other made the trees grow. That is how Yamoto can make wood. So if you’re at a skilled level such as Anbu, it’s not odd to be able to control 2, 3, or more.
he is not going to use a self sacrificing jutsu because that would be a really bad ending for Sasuke and the series would be a downfall knowing that Naruto is looking for him. It would be a build up for nothing. But I’ve been wrong before.

if orochimaru isn’t truly gone yet, maybe that’s exactly what sasuke is about to do, transfer what remains of orochimaru into itachi’s body

With Sasuke’s chakra low I wonder if he can tap into chakra from Orochimaru ( Could that be an act from taking ovr someones body?)
Or what if Sasuke Takes over Itachi’s body. Then He could have the ability to take on Madara with the Mangekyo Sharingan.
Also maybe Itachi is just testing sasuke’s power because he kept pushing Sasuke to get the Mangekyo so what if inorder to get the EMS the brother must have the regular MS
Hmmm… Arex… you might be onto something.
If Sasuke takes over Itachi’s body it’ll be very interesting. It does follow his mission as well as not conceding to Itachi’s method in obtaining the MS (killing his friend). But again, i doubt his method of taking over Itachi’s body will NOT be the soul transfer technique because Sasuke was able to stop it before making it useless for Itachi too.
I see other problems too… Itachi’s almost blind. Thus, Sasuke will have to grab his old set of eyes to fuse it into his newly obtained Itachi body. So, Itachi will still win in a twisted way. Also, Sasuke is so disgusted by his brother, I doubt he will want to take over his body.

I got some questions for u guys and gals. And i have a couple theories for everyone to think about let start with Itachi:
I have a strong reason to believe that the Itachi we see here fighting a Sasuke without MS is a transformation jutsu clone simaliar to the one that was used earlier when Itachi and Kaisime used two of them to fight team Gia and team Kakashi in the hope of them slowing down from finding Gaara before they finished taking Gaara demon. There they only used 30% a piece of there chakra amount into the clones. Now taking that into concideration manga# 388 pg 6 shows Itachi taking Sasuke eyes and putting them into a jar, now lets go back even farther to manga #386 pg 8-9 Madara takes his brother eyes and fused them into his to get EMS. So my question why would thee Itachi fighting Sasuke need to put Sasuke eyes into a jar and take them somewhere? Also knowing Sasuke don’t have MS and this might be the test Itachi put before him to show him that he has to gain MS to defeat him, and that’s when Itachi will come personally to take his eyes because he has to gain MS in order for the EMS glitch (to all Halo fans) to work.
Also taking into account that Itachi was Madara’s pupil it would not be out of our reach for us to assume that Itachi would know more jutsu’s than what Orochimaura could have taught Sasuke and only really being able to perform jutsu’s using his eyes and when could’ve killed Sasuke pulled back using Amaterasu because he didn’t have MS yet. This just can’t be all the jutsu’s that Madara taught him for many years huh? Now u have to wonder could Scrubby be right once again?

About your question-What is his final jutsu and How can he use it when he is out of chackra?Well as I remember in that forest during the chunin exam he was completly out of chakra and then he go in CM1 stage(curse seal completly take over his body and he was invincible).Maybe how he can do something like that.I agree that he cant use genjutsu and ninjutsu therefore he only had taijutsu left.So I think that (since he learn in time how to controle curse seal)he will let cm to take over his entire body(and when that purple chackra appear I know that it will be Itachi end).Even if its mean that orochimaru will take over his body he will do everything in order to kill his brother.

okk even with a little chakra sasuke can pull something off. When he uses the curse mark lv 2 it increase the power of his chakra like the time when he was fighting against gaara in his shukaku form. Sasuke pull off another chidori with curse mark lv 1

i believe that sasuke jutsu is definetly a lightning jutsu or possibly susanoo or however its spelled.just look at the clouds and out of the 3 dieties amaterasu,tsukiyomi.susanoo is the only one that hasn’t been shown yet.it will be shown now or some point later in the series i believe.i was kind of shocked when i saw that sasukes fire jutsu that orichi stopped was only the gouryuuka no jutsu.i thought it would have been like a one hitter quitter.but im still very impressed by them,they were very big.as far as itachi is concerned im so glad that you mentioned that Bob about how his sharingan/ms tomoe are gone.i thought that i was the only person who caught that.i thought maybe that he unactivated one of them but that highly unlikely.if it was unactivated then the eye would be dark/black like a regular uchihas eye but his is white ? based on my own experiences the only time i have seen people with white eyes like that was when they were blind or went blind from eye damage(cough… amaterasu)such as cataracts.giving the eye that frothy,cloudy appearance.leading me to believe that his right is completely useless now meaning that he has lost all eyesight and is blind in his right eye.kakashi being the exception because he only has one sharingan eye.i have never seen anyone in the series activate one eye ?!
you all can see how profusely itachis eye was bleeding.it makes me wonder how come tsukiyomi wasnt bleeding ?was it a double edge sword like the lotus movements.meaning that because it is a powerful fire technique,is the intensity of the flame causing the damage ?when itachi used his amatersu when escaping from jiraiya his eye wasnt bleeding.is this a hint that itachi uses amatersu that much more that amaterasu OR is it from itachi overusing his MS ?he has had it activated for a long time! for the people talking about how Tsunade must die for naruto to become the 6th hokage… thats a bunch of BS!the 3rd kokage was still alive when he appointed the 4th and went into retirement.when the 4th died he resumed his position as the villages leader.SIMPLE AS THAT LMAO…not to offend anyone who said that though.

1. Itachi uses Tsukuyomi more than Amaterasu.
2.Amaterasu is a stronger technique than Tsukuyomi ( probably Itachi’s last resort)….the Amaterasu consumes tons of chakra (probably couldn’t do Tsukuyomi after that)…..and his eyes bleeding, they probably still would’ve bled….this just goes to show how much Itachi overused his eys.
okok guys listen up, To get EMS you need to take a pair of sharingan eyes who posses MS.
So itachi needs to wait til Sasuke got MS then he will go after Sasuke for his MS eyes so he can gain his EMS that hes dreaming of.. thats my thoughts,
or maybe im wrong, that came into my thoughts.. because both madara and his younger brother had MS ..
I hope it really is a lightning jutsu because out of the five (6) elements, lightning is my favorite. This is gonna be epic.

Nice blog Bob, I don’t know if I am the only one but I was hoping for more to happen then just Sasuke overcoming Amatesaru with Orochimaru’s technique. I think it had to do with the fact that the Anime just showed Orochimaru using that technique like 3 times against Naruto.
Part 2 of the interview is on that same site under EDIT2. and about Tsunade’s death I didn’t say that that’s true I just said that I found a blog where someone said that in one interview Kishi said that Tsunade is going to die. I’m not sure that’s true I mean Kishi never tells anything about future of Naruto especily not something that big.
I wonder who will take her spot if she does die.
That Danzou guy, the shady dude that’s in charge of root will probably try to take over Konoha. I don’t think Kakashi would be willing to take charge or at least not confident in his ability.
Yeah lets just hope Tsunade does not die then cause we have no idea what his motives could be.

That implies that Orochimaru was a bijuu though,we’ve had theories about him having the 8-tails, but I don’t know if I buy it. I think Akatsuki would have been more interested in capturing him if he was.
It’s actually scary to think that Sasuke was able to gain Orochimaru’s abilities by absorbing him. This was probably what corrupted Orochimaru in the first place. He learned that he can gain power and knowledge quickly by just consuming someone else and became obsessed about acquiring all the jutsus/abilities in the ninja world. Sasuke could be walking down this same path after he’s dealt with Itachi. At which point the only way to stop him would to have Naruto kill Sasuke.
I like the idea about Oro beind a Jinchurichi because the 8 tails was supposed to be a snake.
That would also mean the akutsuki would go after Sasuke or Kabuto for the 8 tails

Hm that’s interesting but what about that time when sasuke and naruto were fighting. it was raining but nobody die.
i think it usually rains just for dramatic effect so that we DO KNOW something is gonna happen. Not necessarily death but maybe just to inform you a important thing is coming to an end.
Itachi said that Sasuke had to use a lot of chakra to do the Oro-rebirth move. And Orochimaru used that move a bunch of times during the battle with Naruto.
I agree that Orochimaru having a tailed beast in him is a little far fetched. Although, the idea that uchiha’s needing other uchiha’s eyes seemed far fetched a couple months ago because it would seem like they would need a larger stash of fresh eyes.
I think that Orochimaru having a tailed beast or being a tailed beast would make sense with the amount of chakra he had. And it would also add another dimension to why he was trying to stop Akatsuki. It would also explain why in the flash back they talk about how he resembled a snake. And if the eight tales is the second most powerful Bijuu and needs to be captured last it would make sense that Akatsuki would want him close while they collected the others.
I really like your theory Scrubby, about itachi being a clone. The only reason I question it is because it seemed like Itachi couldn’t use Amaterasu while fighting Kakashi and Naruto? Then again, he probably didn’t want to show them all his tricks.
I think when Naruto and Sasuke fought… it was kinda a death of Naruto for Sasuke because after that Sasuke couldn’t be friends with Naruto anymore. Plus, it was just really emotional and I think that’s the other effect of the rain. Kinda like Itachi crying part and when Jiraiya leaves the Orphans.
But it could be Pein too… Wouldn’t that be a twist if Pein came for Sasuke’s Bijuu and Itachi was there for Sasuke’s eyes. And maybe Pein stole his eyes to begin with and will try to steal Sasuke’s eyes.
I wonder about the picture of naruto looking up at the sky at the beginning of the chapter. It looks like he dropped his cape thing. I wonder if they’re getting serious against Tobi.

I think Sasuke will use Rock Lee Taijutsu. The one celled leaf dance taijutsu( I think). This is the technique Rock Lee beat Sasuke on their first fight. Sasuke also used this technique in the Chunnin exam when he fought Kabuto teamate and win. This technique does not required Charkara but it’s deadly.
It is deadly, true, but do you really think that that is the Jutsu that all the hype is about? It would be a huge letdown if Sasuke uses a Jutsu that we have seen already. And Itachi probably knows that Taijutsu since he was the prodigy of Konoha when he was young.

I’d hate to say it, but I really can’t wait until this story goes to another scene… we’ve been on this fight for some time now. I’m also anxious to see how this will end. I hate to say it, but I don’t want Itachi to die… I dunno… he’s a good antagonist.
Come to think of it, I think you’re right ShikamaruIsTheMan. If Sasuke limit is only that much, I don’t think he’ll measure up to Naruto when the final fight comes. I think he’ll release a snake wave at Itachi like Orochimaru at naruto(which is nothing to Nauruto). Or not enough energy to do that.

If orochi was a bijou, hiw come he couldn’t handle NAruto when he went four tails when they met at the bridge? You would think orochi would be able to beat Naruto if he was th the 8 tailed snake. He would be able to tap into the emense chkra the 8 tails has. Naruto can only get to 4 tails now. By my calculations Naruto can get less then half the power of the 9 tails. 4 tails is less then nine and 8 tails is more the 4 tails. Maybe Orochi doesn’t realize he was a bijou. To many unanswered qustions
I have a possible theory about how Sasuke was able to absorb Orochi. When Orochi was killed, the body transfer jutsu was being used.During the body transfer jutsu, Sasuke was able to kill orochi and because the jutsu was being used Sasuke was able to absorb orochi. Orochi’s body was partially tranfered to Sasuke instead of the other way.
i like the idea of orochimaru as a jinchuuriki, but i thought akatsuki already had all the tailed beasts except for the kyubbi
and back to the susanoo theory, to further my theory that sasuke will use the ability soon is that susanoo killed a giant snake(which incidentally was eight-headed, furthering the defense of the eight tailed bijuu theory) called orochi, and took his sword, the kusanagi, which is exactly what sasuke has done, it just seems to make sense that he will use the susanoo ability
and the whole thunder thing and gathering clouds, susanoo’s power right there
Siskin- I just had a strong hunch that because Itachi was in AUBU and one of the elite shinobi’s in the leaf village and when off with Madara who would have taught him alot more jutsu’s then what he knew before he left with Madara and became Madara’s student it just seems that he would be alot stronger than that sothat why i think its a clone at about 50% or more of his true strenght.
But with this Sasuke situation i just can’t figure out what was meant by Sasuke absorbed Orochimaura either, hold up the curse seal allows your body the ability to be a host, so maybe Sasuke surpressed Orochimaura into his body and use his powers when he needs too just a thought.

finally orochimaru isn’t an eight tail because the eight tail was already caught but he might have had a biju controling ability and while this idea comes straight for harry potter it would probably involve a snake entering the biju’s body like he dose.

Sasuke has to be stronger than Naruto because his techniques are amazing. i have to say if this is all their is to itachi’s power i am highly disappointed. And I am angry that Naruto is so much weaker than Sasuke. Sasuke is last attack has to be taijutsu or a kekkai genkai because he has now more chakra left or he has another hidden seal that conserves chakra!
These are all good theories and I agree that Itachi cant have Amaturasu, Tsukyomi and Susanoo as Mangekyou techniques because he can only have 2 but what if Susanoo isnt a mangekyou technique, what if its just some super duper awsome non eye technique that Itachi learned from Madara who learned about it after he got EMS but you dont need EMS to use it. umm frank susanoo is a completely different thing from what kakashi did to deidara. That was just some new Mangekyou sharingan technique that has no name so far. susanoo is a unheard of technique so far but if its related to japanese mythology like the rest of the techniques are then it will have something to do with sea and storms considering in jap. mythology susanoo is god of sea and storms. LOL funny thing is alot of things seem to relate to japanese mythology. If you look at japanese mythology there are three gods who were brothers. One named tsukuyomi the god of the moon, one named amaterasu god of the sun, and susanoo god of sea and storms. Alot of people thought susanoo was a technique of sasukes because in the mythology susanoo slayed a eight headed monster named orochi and got a kusanagi sword from his body. sounds a lot like narutos based off this mythology stuff lol

If you read about japanese mythology Tsukoyomi was born with the washing the left eye, Amaterasu with the right, and susanoo was born with the nose( This is why Itachi has to close one of his eyes to do the tsukoyomi of the amaterasu).In my opinion Itachi is just using his sense of smell like Kiba because Susanoo was born through the washing of the nose.Like the amaterasu he closed his left eye and when he over used his tsukoyomi his left eye became blurry.
