The Bijuu - Part 1

Well here goes… The last few chapters have many people wondering whether the Naruto series are coming to an end. The Akatsuki have almost completed their goal of capturing the bijuu. The Uchiha clan is suddenly interested in the Kyuubi. There is a lot of talk about the bijuu, but a lot of people want to know more about them. So I & Scrubby have decided to tell you about them.

The bijuu (tailed beasts) are 9 mythical creatures that have a different number of tails and are named from 1 to 9: Ichibi (1 tail), Nibi (2 tails), Sanbi (3 tails), Yonbi (4 tails), Gobi (5 tails), Rokubi (6 tails), Shichibi (7 tails), Hachibi (8 tails) & Kyuubi (9 tails). Each of these bijuu are sealed inside human beings called jinchuuriki. So far 7 of these jinchuuriki have been captured by Akatsuki & their bijuu – extracted. The 2 left are Naruto with his Kyuubi & 1 one unkown, but according to most theories its either the 5-tails or the 8-tails. Hope we find out soon.

According to Japanese and Chinese mythology 5 of the bijuu are elemental gods: 1-tail – wind; 3-tails – water; 6-tails – lightning; 7-tails – earth; 9-tails – fire. That brings up the question – if there are 6 elements in Naruto, which demon controls the 6th element? Or maybe the 6th element just doesn’t have a God. Anyway they were sealed within shrines and their keeper was the 5-tailed demon, but the 8-tailed demon released them. We’ll tell you more about that when we get to the 8-tails myth. For now it’s just the first 4 demons.

Ichibi no Shukaku 尾 | 守鶴 – one-tailed Guarding Crane (whatever that is), but is also refered to as tanuki (racoon dog).

As most of you probably know, the Shukaku used to be sealed inside Gaara, but was extracted by Akatsuki. According to mythology a priest was travelling through a desert, when the God of wind was released from his shrine by the 8-tailed demon. The God merged with the preist & became a demon racoon dog – Shukaku. The Shukaku has a playful nature (as you might have noticed in the fight between naruto & Gaara) & because of that is considered amongst the 3 weakest bijuu. In ancient times there were battles between the 9 demons. In his battles Shukaku managed to defeat the 4-tails, but lost to the 2-tails, 3-tails & 6-tails. He also managed to escape when he was almoast killed by the 8-tails. Shukaku’s specail powers are wind & sand manipulation & possesing people while they sleep. In folklore the racoon dogs are considered as mischievous pranksters & shapeshifters, but also as absent-minded. They also have large (even huge) bellies and testicles, which they use as drums. (Note: If anybody finds the word ‘testicle’ offensive, that’s their problem.) Well, that’s about everything for the Shukaku. There aren’t any theories here, since it isn’t a powerful or imporntant demon & we already know a lot about its jinchuuriki, too.The only theory I could come up with was about Gaara’s… umm … never mind.

Two – Tailed (Nibi) Nekomata (Cat) 二尾 | 貓又 —

Legends of the Tailed Beasts： Nekomata is a bijuu in the form of cat, and possesses the power of death. This Bijuu lives in a place called “Forest of Death” in Hokkaido, to the north. His appearance is a black cat monster (depicted with huge, black angel wings). He’s the Death God’s pet. Nekomata feeds on dead people’s spirits, and can summon these to fight for him. He uses a third eye at the top of its head to consume the spirits.
Situation in the Ancient War of the 9 Gods： Trying to dominate his enemies, Nekomata forms an alliance with Houkou, and attacks Kyuubi. They have a disastrous defeat, and Nekomata is rescued by the Death God, escaping death by a hair’s breath. Battled 3 times; 2 Wins, 1 Loss.
Fate： Nekomata ends up killed by Kyuubi later, and in that instant his spirit is summoned by the Death God. The body was kept in a shrine in the Forest of Death, sealed by the Death God himself.
Ability: Death; may control deceased person’s spirits Nekomata can also do other magic, but her most well-known and common power is that of reanimating the dead and manipulating them to whatever ends Nekomata wishes. That said Nekomata could shapeshift and become human in appearance; Bijuu Strength Ranking： 4th Bijuu Chakra/Stamina Ranking： 8th
Symbolic Element： Darkness (God of Darkness)
Discovered in： Hokkaido’s “Forest of Devils” Weaknesses: When Hidan of Akatsuki captured the woman carrying the 2- tail beast she didn’t use any jutsus, but used the power of Nekomata to help defeat Hidan and Kakuzu. Also she just let her bijuu just take over and try to win her battle for her (bijuu’s are weak by themselves, but is stronger with a human host). Questions: Can Akatsuki after capturing a bijuu and putting it in the humanoid figure use there special powers that they possess?Could Pein and the others use Nekomata’s abilities to control the dead and fight against Jiraiya and the others?

Sanbi no Isonade 三尾 | 磯憮 – three-tailed Smoothed down beach (Huh?). It is strange creature, with an even stranger name, that looks like shark.

It may seem as turtle at first, but it’s not. On its stomach it has a fish named Samehada! You read it right – Samehada! For those of you who don’t know, Samehada is also the name of Kisame’s sword, over which he is currently fighting with Suigetsu. Both Samehadas work the same – they digest food (in Kisame’s case – his opponent’s chakra) and convert it into chakra for thier masters. Many people think that’s because Kisame is Isonade’s jinchuuriki, but we already know that’s impossible, ‘cause when Isonade was captured by Akatsuki, it had no jinchuuriki. Rather, I think Kisame was simply created by Kishimoto in Isonade’s image, or could be Isonade’s son (like the speculations that Madara Uchiha is son of a tengu). That would explain the scales, names & so on. According to mythology Isonade would swallow ships and even islands. So one day a fisherman sacrificed himself by sealnig Samehada inside a shrine, thus leaving Isonade without a chakra source, which lead to sealing Isonade in the shrine, too. In his battles with the other demons, Isonade managed to defeat Shukaku & the 6-tails, but was defeated by the 2-tails & escaped from the 8-tails. Isonade’s special powers include control over water & water currents.

Four Tail (Yonbi ) Sokou (Rat Shark) 四尾 | 鼠鮫 -


The Legend of the Tailed Beasts： Sokou is a bijuu that looks like a reptile. It was a creature that lived near Mount Fuji. Because of the toxic gas and the volcaninc ash, he was transformed into a half-rooster, half-snake monster. The Rooster and Snake are husband and wife in Sokou’s body. Everything around it withers away or dies, because of its poison.
Situation in the Ancient War of the 9 Gods：Sokou was sealed by a master of demonic arts, called Yamazaki Ishiro, with the “Tool of power: Netted Moon Cage” to the seal in the Mount Fuji’s base. Sokou becomes unable to send out his poisonous gas from the mountain for all eternity.Ability: Controls poison, poisonous gas, venoms, and so on.Jinchuuriki: A monk from Fire Country.Comments: This is a very hard bijuu to find information on because it was really considered to be weak. The only member in Akatsuki that has any abilities that could use this Bijuu’s abilities was Sasori, but I’m not implying that Sasori had the 4 tail beast in him at all. Just a theory.

    ooo i got a question!!! when it comes to the fighting.. i dont get it. where they doing it WWE style or something lol. like they all seem to have a win/loss record and im confused rofl

    Great post! Ever since Neji commented on Kisame’s chakra, I wondered whether he was a jinchuuriki. Thanks for clearing that up.

    I think he and Naruto naturally have more “human” chakra than most people. I guess that’s what Neji sees, not the bijuu.

    Hey - if the kyuubi’s element is fire and Naruto’s is wind, what would they create if they mixed the two together? lol

    So really Naruto could have 3 elemental chakras to work with if his second is water like be speculated and the Kyuubi’s is fire.

    very nice, im quite interested to know what the one left to be captured could be…..the 8 tail seems to have a large role in these stories and they normally use stories like these so my guess goes there

    I think the 8 tail is the one thats still free becouse the story tels that he is one of the strongest.and if they would batlle him i think that must be a pretty awosome fight.

    I think they’ll just want to tap into the Bijuus’ near unlimited chakra. How is another question though. It’d be too troublesome to reseal them into new hosts and there’s the problem of controlling them too.

    Well, here’s a couple of thoughts: They could be trying to put the demon chakara into Pein’s different bodies once they’re done gathering. Also, could the super=sage dude be the spawn of the Kyuubi and Madara is the spawn of the sage?

    Yeah… it get’s confusing because I assume you guys (and I mean it in a figurative sort of northeastern y’all… but we say you guys) are all the characters you have as your avatars.

    About the Cat,
    it might explain why Minato was able to split the kyuubi’s chakra because the death God probably wanted a peice of the kyuubi for killing his cat.

    I like the theory that the statue allows them to tap into the Bijuu’s power and maybe that’s the significance of the rings.

    When they first introduced Akatsuki, I thought they were searching for the bijuu to each have their own…
    why are their 10 rings you say? well… maybe Pein doesn’t need one or they ressurect the tengo or something like that.

    Who knows why they are collecting the Bijuu but it is obvious that they want it to do something mischievous. The filler episodes give a lot of info. on Orochimaru if you guys (J-sama & Scrubby) didn’t already know that.

    I like your theory, Siskin, but theyre’s ten rings and only nine Bijuu. Also, all of the people that wore the rings are pushing up dasies, which might complicate controling evil demon chakara.

    Notice how the respective Bijuu’s name/number is similar to the Kage’s (with the exception of the first ‘Shodaime’)

    Nibi - Nidaime
    Sanbi - Sandaime
    Yonbi - Yondaime
    Gobi - Godaime

    It’s a wild guess but i’m going to guess that the rest are as follewed:

    Rokubi - Rokudaime
    Shichibi - Shichidaime
    Hachibi - Hachidaime
    Kyuubi - Kyuudaime

    Speaking of rings…sounds like LOTR? :D Tobi could be the Dark Lord….and the nine others are the 9 ringwraights or “evil men flying in dark horses”….hahaha. :)

    My friends who are contrary to Naruto’s originality says that the anime is a Harry Potter & LOTR spin-off by Kishi…hhmmmm….but I think authors usually think of same concepts since these concepts are what we humans try to understand more such as “good vs. evil”, “destiny”, “world domination”…uhmm..and “gaara ballZ”. :D

    The four tailed “half-rooster / half-snake” riminds me of Zetsu.
    - he’s got two personalities that fight in him like a married couple.
    - he eats things that are already destoyed

    hey guys i have question…theres three summons in sannins right? jiraiya is toad orochimaru is snake and tsunade is snail…i read a book that a story of jiraiya…and it is a love triangle about jiraiya,tsunade and orochimaru…but lol…and i know the history of the three sommuns…

    Random reader here. I found out a while back that the Akatsuki are gathering all the demons so they can control a giant war sydicate. once they have all the demons and can control how the wars turn out, they can start a new branch of political office which offers jobs for ninja at better pay rates. then the entire shinobi world will basically be under their control because they can affrod to hire so many ninja that they can’t be defeated in battle. not to mention the fact that they can use demon power to destroy pretty much anyone who gets in the way. I’m pretty sure that someone asked about what the Akatsuki were doing with the demons. sorry if I seem know-it-all-ish. I was just cruising sites to find out the whole deal about wether Kisame was actually a bijuu or not.

    i wish i cood see the tailed beasts battle each other in an entire all out battle when the kyuubi is released
