Episode 32 of the anime brings to a conclusion to the Rescue of Gaara story arc. And if you asked me, they sure took their time! The equivalent Naruto manga are volumes 28-31 which contains a total of 37 chapters. That’s about 1.16 manga chapters per anime episode. Compare this to the original Naruto series which ended the first major story arc, the Land of Waves, with episode 19; the manga equivalent is chapter 33, so that’s 1.74 chapters per episode.

Jiraiya goes into Hermit Mode, his most powerful form. But really, he’s just a whole lot uglier, and remember it’s Jiraiya we’re talking about so that’s quite a feat.
