Tenth Akatsuki Member Identity Revealed
In the latest Naruto manga, chapter 368, the tenth and last ring-bearing member of the Akatsuki organization is revealed. And her name is ***drum roll please*** …. Konan!
Konan?
That’s not a girl’s name!
When I hear “Konan” I think of this:

Okay, so all these Conan’s begin with a “C”, but you get the point. I can’t say I’m an expert on Japanese girls’ names, but of all the anime I’ve seen (and that’s a lot), I haven’t encountered a single female character named Konan before today.
Well enough of that rant, let’s talk about the actual character. Konan has one of the more mysterious abilities seen so far in the Naruto series. She has the ability to transform her body into thousands of pieces of paper, and not just any paper mind you, Oragami paper; LOL, silly Kishi and his imagination.
Each piece of paper can then fold itself into a shape that suits the mission at hand, such as the butterflies Konan turned into in this chapter.
It’s kind of a freaky power if you think about it. She’s literally peeling her body into thousands of little sheets and then scatters them across the city. The paper power seems pretty useful for spying and reconnaissance purposes, but I wonder if she is any use in offensive battles. Heh, I can just hear all the paper cut jokes coming LOL. You would think being made out of paper would make her a bad compliment to Pein, who appears to have the ability to control rain itself; soggy paper equals useless paper, right? And I can’t imagine paper being strong against any of the elements: wind can cut it, water can soak it, fire can burn it, lightning can fry it, earth can crush it. When you think of paper, strength of material just doesn’t apply. However, paper as a weapon has been used in other anime series. Anyone who has watched Read or Die or Read or Dream would know what I mean.
I bet old Kishi has something up his sleeves for this girl, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Deviant art is such a cool place, especially for finding Naruto fanart. I think I spend more time browsing through those pages than I spend on Youtube these days.

Read or die GOD i loved that one! i guess her paper wouldnt be so weak againts the elements considering shes made of it im guessing its strong because she divides her full Chakra power into each piece making each piece as hard as a rock yet light like a feather, and im guessing she has excellent control of chakra, yet im wondering, can she control each individual piece?
Cuz what if theres a gust of WIND and blows some of the pieces away lol, or a Streetsweeper passes by and blows them apart lol she’ll comeback together missing some limbs! lol anyhow this all is surprising me alot it its almost reminding me of One Piece as if she ate a piece of the Gum Gum fruit lol.
Also her technique reminds me a bit of how Byakuya’s sword breaks into 1000s of pieces that glow like Cherry Blossoms.
