CHAPTER
494 - Killer Bee and Motoi
Motoi begins to tell the tale of Killer Bee and the taming
of Hachibee (Eight Tails) in Kumogakure. Like all the other
tailed beasts, the Eight Tails was wild and powerful. They
tried to seal it inside several hosts, but each time the beast would
break free and rampage through the village.
During the Eight-Tail’s last escape, he
killed a shinobi who was Motoi’s father by impaling him with
his horn. Killer Bee’s brother managed to sever the horn, but
it was already too late for Motoi’s father. The Eight Tails
was sealed once again, but with the previous host dead a young Killer
Bee was chosen as the next test subject.
Motoi was close friends with Killer Bee at the
time, but grew distant from him once he learned the Eight Tails was
sealed inside him. He knew Killer Bee wasn’t responsible for his
father’s death, but his hatred for the tailed beast grew so strong that
Motoi attempted to murder Killer Bee in order to kill the
Eight-Tails. Motoi’s attack failed and he distanced himself
even more from his former friend, but over time he realized the entire
village looked down upon Killer Bee and began to respect him for
remaining strong and cheerful in the face of everything.
Naruto decides to find some time alone to
meditate about how to face his evil self. He is interrupted
when the giant squid which attacked them before appears next to the
seaside cliff Naruto was resting on. To makes matters worse,
the squid has captured Motoi. Yamato shows up and explains that Motoi
was caught when he was concerned and went searching for
Naruto. Naruto and Yamato prepare to attack the squid when
Killer Bee suddenly shows up in his semi-transformed state and defeats
the squid in one hit. Motoi, now safely on dry land, thanks
Killer Bee and apologizes for what he did during their youth.
