CHAPTER
487 - The Battle Begins
Naruto has made his declaration to Sasuke and is determined
to make Sasuke face him and see him as his equal. Sakura
watches from the sidelines and feels useless because her resolve to
confront Sasuke is nothing compared to what Naruto has. She decides
that the only thing she can do at the moment is to believe in them.
As Madara prepares to leave with Sasuke, Kakashi
attempts to use his Mangekyou ability, Kamui, to take him out. But
before he can even begin, Madara seems to have read his intentions and
advises Kakashi that that that type of jutsu has no effects on him. The
Leaf ninja can only watch as Madara warps everyone away. With
the tension lowered, Naruto finally succumbs to the poison in Sakura’s
kunai which Sasuke scratched him with earlier. After Sakura
administers the antidote, they prepare to return to the village with
Karin in tow.
As soon as they returned to their headquarters,
Sasuke demands that Madara implant him with Itachi’s eyes in order to
give him Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. When asked by Madara
what made him change his mind to the idea, Sasuke explains that he
wants to destroy Naruto and everything he loves with his full powers -
that is his way to reject everything Naruto stands for.
Meanwhile, Killer Bee and the Raikage make their
return back to Kumogakure. Killer Bee has taken Kisame’s
sword, Samehada, as his prize but no one suspects the danger lurking
inside his new toy. At the scene of Kisame and Killer Bee’s
battle, Zetsu recovers Kisame’s decapitated body only to reveal that it
was one of his clones. He made the
switch just before the end
of the battle, the real Kisame is lying in wait inside Samehada in
order to carry out his real mission: to infiltrate
Kumogakure.
At a certain undisclosed location underground,
three Takigakure ninja are running away from a fearsome foe when snakes
suddenly strike out from the shadows and strangle them. A
newly transformed Kabuto emerges from the dark and comments it is about
time to set his plans in motion.
