CHAPTER
416 - The Legend of the Gutsy Ninja
In the treetops, two ninjas engage in a pitched
battle.
One of them is from Konoha and the other is a ninja from an unknown
village. The Leaf ninja tosses two smoke bombs to blind him
and
moves in to attack. But in the melee, the Leaf ninja is the
one
who is defeated. His opponent charges in and delivers the
killing
blow only to discover he was fighting a
clone. The real Leaf ninja appears behind him and knocks him
out. The defeated ninja tells him that another assassin will
come
if he is killed and that there will never be peace in the accursed
world of ninjas. But the Leaf ninja proclaims that
he will
break that cycle and won’t rest until he brings peace to the
world. He is about to reveal his name, but at that moment
Naruto
stops reading.
Naruto has been reading Jiraiya’s book
the whole
time and he is touched by his former sensei’s
story. He
remembers back to a conversation they had during the time traveling
together. Confused about how to save Sasuke, Naruto asks
Jiraiya
about his similar experience with Orochimaru. Jiraiya
explains that, like Sasuke, Orochimaru also lost his parents at a young
age. He became obsessed with forbidden techniques, perhaps to
bring his parents back or perhaps for revenge on Konoha because he felt
they were responsible for their deaths. When Jiraiya tried to
consul him, Orochimaru told Jiraiya that he doesn’t
understand
him. Jiraiya knew the hatred was spreading inside Orochimaru
and
wanted to something, but didn’t know what to do.
He tells Naruto that he believes that a day will
come
when the people of the world will truly understand each other and there
will finally be peace. Jiraiya half jokingly
asks Naruto to accomplish that goal for him in case he fails to find a
solution. Naruto happily agrees which brings out a hardy
laugh
from Jiraiya. He tells Naruto that his smile is his
salvation. Naruto blushes when Jiraiya says he is glad he
made
him his apprentice. However, Jiraiya is not ready to give up
on
his dream just yet. He proudly states that he will change the
world with his books but Naruto is sceptical.
Sauske and Jugo carry the Eight-Tails
Jinchuuriki,
Killerbee, and their unconscious teammates to their rendezvous
location. Inside an odd-looking structure ,
they deliver the Eight-Tails to the awaiting Madara as they had
promised. He then leaves Madara saying his team needs time to
heal. In a flashback sequence, Madara recalls a conversation
he
had wit Sasuke before his mission. Sasuke sat down with
Madara to discuss his future plans. Madara is curious where
Sasuke sees for himself after learning about how Itachi had lived and
the sacrifices he made. Sasuke states that he
understands that Itachi gave up his life to protect Konoha, but says he
can not fulfill his wish and become his successor. Sasuke
says he
can never forgive the three elders of Konoha for what they
did to
the Uchiha clan and Itachi’s life; he also blames the whole
village as accomplices.
Sasuke is not satisfied in just killing the elders, he says
that
he only said that for his team-mates. Madara asks Sasuke if
he is
serious about this, considering all his brother has done up to this
point. Sasuke explains that like how Itachi placed his life
above
that of the village, he will now do the same for his brother.
And
because it was Konoha which ruined his clan and forced Itachi to kill
their parents, he  will
take revenge for Itachi. Sasuke adds that he may be letting
his
own hatred rule his decisions, but he doesn’t care anymore
and
will kill the loved ones of anyone who wants to deny his way of living;
maybe then they will understand a little bit of his hatred.
Inside the Raikage’s office, a Cloud
ninja reports
the fate of Killerbee at the hands of Akatsuki invaders. He
also
mentions that one of them is from the Uchiha clan of Konoha.
The
Raikage explodes in a fit of rage and destroys his own desk with one
punch. He declares that he will get his brother back.
