MenuCHAPTER 402 - Last Words 
Sasuke stares
emotionlessly at the crashing waves. His mind remembers back
to what seems like another person’s life. The sound
of Itachi’s voice comes from the doorway to the Uchiha
household. A young Sasuke rushes over from his room to give
his big brother a hug. With a wide smile on his face, Sasuke
begs Itachi to play with him. But his mother, Mikoto, walks
by and tells Sasuke to leave his brother alone
until he finishes his
homework from the ninja academy. Itachi responds that
it’s alright because the assignments are really easy and
heads out to play with Sasuke.In the woods, Sasuke and Itachi play a game of hide-and-seek. Sasuke spots his brother behind a tree and rushes over to surprise him. But Itachi tells Sasuke that it was a nice try and disappears in a puff of smoke because it was only a clone. Later that evening as the Uchiha family sits  down
to
dinner, Sasuke tells his father, Fugaku, about Itachi’s
technique. But Fugaku seems to be only interested in that
Itachi had mastered a new jutsu. Sasuke wants Itachi to teach him after
dinner, but his mom reminds him about Itachi’s
homework. Itachi pokes Sasuke in the forehead and tells him
they can do it another time.Time skips forward and the two Uchiha brothers are training together in the woods. Sasuke complains that he wants to learn more shuriken throwing techniques when Itachi says they should head home. Itachi explains that he has an important mission the next day and he has to make sure he is prepared. Sasuke calls him a liar, but smiles when Itachi waves him to come over. However, as Sasuke rushes over, Itachi stops him with a finge  r
tap to the forehead and says he’ll teach him another
time. Disappointed, Sasuke decides to try to impress his
brother by performing a high level throwing technique he saw Itachi
perform earlier. Not surprisingly, Sasuke hurts himself and
has to have his brother carry him back by piggyback. On their
way back, Sasuke asks Itachi if he can train him again next
time. Itachi agrees but reminds Sasuke that he’ll
be attending the academy for his first time tomorrow, so
they’ll both be very busy from now on. Sasuke says
it’s fine as long as the two of them can be
together sometimes.
In another scene, Itachi sits down with Sasuke to
have a talk that will leave a deep impact on Sasuke. He tells
Sasuke that the two of them are unique brothers because he himself
exists as the ultimate obstacle which Sasuke must overcome.
Time shifts forward again, and Sasuke catches his
brother at the doorstep just before he is ready to leave for a
mission. Sasuke pleads with Itachi to help him with his
shuriken training that day, but Itachi says he is too busy.
Sasuke is disappointed and asks why Itachi always treats him like he is
annoying him. Itachi waves Sasuke over but taps him on the
forehead again and repeats what he always say, “ sorry
Sasuke, maybe next time.”
Back to current time, Itachi’s words
echo through Sasuke’s head and become clearer in his
mind. Itachi had stated that he existed to be the ultimate
obstacle which Sasuke must surpass, and because of that they will
continue to exist together. He also
told Sasuke that even if
he comes to hate him because of this, he will continue to play his role
because that is what being an older brother is about.Sasuke remembers his brother’s face in the last moments of their battle. As Itachi reaches out with his bloodied hand towards Sasuke’s head, he murmurs something and taps Sasuke one final time on the forehead. Itachi’s last words were said with a kind smile on his face: “sorry Sasuke, but there won’t be a next time.”
As the image of his brother fades away, Sasuke is
left in tears. Madara, along with all the members of Team
Hebi (Snake) are all present at the shore with Sasuke. A hawk
screeches as it flies overhead. Without turning around to
face his team, Sasuke announces that from that moment on, they will no
longer be called “Snake.” Their new name
will be “Hawk” and they only have one goal: the
complete and utter destruction of the Leaf. As Sasuke makes
his declaration, his face shown no emotion but his pupils are filled
