Naruto’s Rasengan attack against Tobi is
ineffective. As he falls, Tobi charges forward and kicks
Naruto hard in the face and tells him he can’t measure up
against him. This Naruto was a Shadow Clone and disappears in
a puff of smoke as it crashes into the real Naruto in
mid-air. Naruto lands in a shallow pond. Hinata is
concerned about his safety but Sakura reassures her that it takes more
than that to take down Naruto. Yamato and Kakashi
see that their enemy saw right through all of Naruto’s jutsus
but believe Tobi is still just messing around with them.
Back at the site of the battle between Jiraiya and Pein,
Jiraiya has used the last of his chakra to inscribe a secret message on
Pa toad’s back. The code  consists
of three lines of numbers: first line 9, 31,8; second line 106, 7; and
third line 207,15. The body of Pein with the constant grin
fires his detachable left fist at Pa toad. The ensuing
explosion knocks Jiraiya’s body into the water, but Pa toad
managed to teleport away safely.
As Jiraiya sinks deeper into the watery abyss, his face is
adorned with a peaceful smile. He thinks to himself that this
ending is a little better and can now rest in peace. He sees
himself as the proverbial frog at the bottom of the well finally
drifting off to the great ocean – a pretty honorable
end. Jiraiya is satisfied that he can finally put his pen
down, but remembers that the next book still needs a title.
And he has the perfect one: “The Tale of Naruto
Uzumaki.”
Tsunade drinks by herself in a quiet place by a lake in
Konoha. Nearby, a toad that is surprised by a water
droplet falling on its head leaps into the water, creating
ripples. Tsunade watches the distorted reflection of the
Hokage mountain carvings in the water. For an instant,
Jiraiya’s likeness seems to appear next to that of the Third
Hokage.
In an explosion of water, an angry Naruto
reappears, alleviating Hinata’s anxiety. Tobi
refers to everyone as “Leaf people” and asks what
sort of game they
should play now. Naruto refutes that they don’t
have time to screw around and everyone agrees they must finish this off
quick because they need to keep on Sasuke’s trail.
Kakashi tells everyone to get ready and Yamato gives the command to get
into ‘formation  B’
to attack.Pein and his bodies line up next to the water. Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin, is dead. Pein gives his former teacher praise because if Jiraiya had discovered his secret, he could not have won against Jiraiya. Pein calls out to someone in hiding to come out now. Zetsu, who has been watching the battle the entire time, reveals himself and comments that Pein took a long time to beat Jiraiya. Pein responds that Jiraiya’s appearance was a surprise and occurred right after Madara (Tobi) ordered him to capture the Nine-tails. Zetsu says that he wants to tag along to see how that will turn out, but his alter ego says that he wants to watch a different fight.
At that moment, Sasuke had just begun his confrontation
against Itachi. Itachi repeats Sasuke’s line about
wanting to see him dead and responds that they will see just how
Sasuke’s eyesight is. In that same instant, Itachi
appears behind Sasuke, back to back. Sasuke smiles as he
welcomes the challenge and the brothers swing around to exchange their
