377 - Hermit Mode
 Pein has summoned two
humans dressed in Akatsuki garbs; one is skinny and the other is
fat. Both have the Rinnegan eyes, orange hair and similar
piercings to Pein's. Ma says that there must be some trick to
this since all three possess the Rinnegan and complains that
they’ll be late for dinner. Pa tells her to forget
about dinner because they need to focus on the enemy right
now. Jiraiya interrupts and proclaims that he will make his
move. He then proceeds to do his full Hermit Mode pre-fight
ritual dance and speech. But before he could get very far, Ma
and Pa punch him from both sides of his head and tells him to quit
shouting in their ears.
Ma tell Jiraiya that they should hurry up and
finish this battle because she needs to make dinner. Pa again
tells her to forget about dinner because they need to focus on the guy
with the Rinnegan - the most powerful eye  technique in the world.
Ma tells Pa to shut it and informs him it’s really
tough being a housewife having to put dinner on the table every
day. Pa screams back and tells her he was only worrying about
her yet she keeps mouthing off. Jiraiya,
situated right between the two bickering toads, wishes they would stop
shouting in his ears.
Without a sound, the skinny Akatsuki member
charges in to attack Jiraiya. But he wasn’t fast
enough and Jiraiya lands a flying kick directly in his head which sends
him crashing back to his original position. Jiraiya asks the toads to stop their bickering and get
started on taking down their enemy. Ma agrees and offers to
fry something up; she asks Jiraiya to bring the oil and for Pa to fan
the flames. The three agree and combine to perform
Hermit’s  Art: Deep Fryer with Ma performing a Fire jutsu,
Jiraiya providing a jet of oil and Pa intensifying the attack with a
Wind jutsu. As the wave of boiling oil rushes towards Pein,
the fat Akatsuki member jumps right in front of it with open
palms. In a second, all the oil vanishes with only wisps of
steam remaining. Jiraiya cannot believe the fat one got rid of the oil,
but Ma notes it was more like he ate it all.
 Jiraiya takes off his
sandals and gets on all fours; his appearance changes more towards a
toad’s as his feet and hands begin to become more
toad-like. He comments that they’ll need to figure
out how Pein’s  new
summons fight by going into lose combat. He pushes off the
wall with an explosion of speed and performs the Ultimate Rasengan
attack (a gigantic sphere of spiralling chakra) at the fat Akatsuki
member. But again the fat one puts out his palms and
instantly absorbs the entire attack into himself. While Jiraiya is
confounded by how his
opponent could do this, Ma warns that the skinny Akatsuki member is
coming up from behind with a sneak attack. Pa uses a smoke
bomb and provides cover for Jiraiya to sneak behind the skinny one
instead. However, even with the speed of his Hermit Mode
punch, the Akatsuki member manages to block it with one hand without
even looking behind.
Jiraiya is again astounded by how his attack with cancelled
out so easily. But he decides to move on to target Pein
himself. He uses a decoy frog summon to leap out from the
smoke cloud to distract Pein while he lands behind him and launches an
attack called Hermit Art: Hair Needle Barrage.
Thousands of sharp needles formed from Jiraiya’s own hair
fire at rapid speeds at Pein. But Pein, without even looking
behind him, is able to instantly summon a giant panda to absorb the
entire attack.
 Jiraiya leaps back to a
safe distance and analyzes what has happened thus far. Pein
doesn’t waste a single movement and has blocked all of
Jiraiya’s attacks without breaking a sweat
so far. But Jiraiya can’t understand how
his opponents have been able to block his attacks without even making eye
contact. Even if all three of them were chakra sensing types,
they shouldn’t be able to block using such perfect defences
without at least looking at the attack. Jiraiya’s
Hair Needle Barrage is his fastest attack with the widest range, yet
Pein made the decision to block it with a summon without even seeing
the attack.
Pa informs Jiraiya that he has noticed
something important. When Jiraiya attacked the skinny guy
from behind and when he attacked Pein from behind, the whole time the
other guys on Pein’s team were watching very
carefully. Pa suspects they communicated what they saw to
each other to help block Jiraiya’s attacks, even if it comes
from a blind spot. Yet they didn’t make a sound and
didn’t give any signal at all. Pa believes it must
be an ability of he Rinnegan, that somehow if all three are watching
the same target, they can see an attack coming from three points of
view. But the question remains: just who or what are these
people that Pein has summoned?
