MenuCHAPTER 370 - Uneasiness After Pein lies down into
his capsule, one of the other bodies is animated and steps onto the
ground.Jiraiya still has a hard time understanding why the Rain ninja would call Pein a god. He asks his prisoner what is his “god” intending to achieve, but the prisoner only replies that Pein does whatever he pleases so underlings like him have no clue. Then Jiriaya asks him to start talking about Akatsuki, but the prisoner avoids eye contact and says he has never heard of the word before. Jiraiya isn’t fooled and tells the Rain ninja that he can read his pulse through the walls that have trapped his arms and legs. Jiraiya advises him to tell the truth or he’ll be turned
into a frog
too. But the prisoner continues to resist and declares that
even a low level shinobi like him has some willpower too. He
refuses to tell Jiraiya anymore. Jiraiya is silent for a
moment and then turns away. Jiraiya informs his prisoner that
he’ll need to keep him here for the time
being. He comments that interrogation
isn’t his thing anyway and walks out while saying he just has
to go speak with this “god” in person. After Jiraiya exits onto a platform; the membranous wall closes behind him. He performs a hand seal and expels a strangely shaped frog from his mouth. The frog is floating in the air and his lower torso is made up of a cylinder that is actually a rolled up scroll. The frog asks
Jiraiya if he is going to train Naruto again and mentions
Naruto’s “key.” Jiraiya replies
that it isn’t the case. He explains that he is
going to fight someone who might be a bit “tough”
soon, so he needs to take some precautions and activate the
‘release seal.’ The frog comments that
Jiraiya’s enemy must be powerful if he needs his
help. The scroll unfurls from the frog’s torso and
Jiraiya imprints his hand on it, next to a complex inscription of
symbols.Jiraiya says that the battle probably won’t take long but just in case he wants the frog to entrust himself to Naruto if anything happens. The frog tells Jiraiya it is an absurd idea since the “key”
to
Naruto’s Eight Trigrams Seal is inscribed on the inside of
his stomach. He believes that the Fourth Hokage left the
“key” to help reinforce the seal once it begins to
weaken, and thinks Jiraiya is crazy to put the key right next to the
vault. Jiraiya thinks that because the
“key” belonged to Minato, it should be natural that
one day it be given to his son, Naruto. The frog thinks
Naruto is still too young and inexperienced. He reminds
Jiraiya that he almost got killed the last time he tried to mess with
the Four Symbols Seal during training with Naruto. Jiraiya
argues that he believes Minato must have wanted Naruto to complete
“that jutsu” one day. The frog doubts if
Naruto will ever need such a jutsu. He point
out that Naruto
can’t even control the Kyuubi’s chakra yet; when
Jiraiya opened the seal just a crack, Kyuubi’s chakra flooded
out instantly and transformed Naruto into the four-tail transformation
state. If the seal were to be released further, Naruto will
no doubt undergo a complete transformation into Kyuubi. Jiraiya points out that
Minato only used the Dead
Demon Seal to seal away the dark side of Kyuubi’s
chakra. Minato made sure to separate the Kyuubi’s
chakra into light and dark sides. Minato sealed the light
half into Naruto and Jiraiya believes the only reason he did so was to
have his son learn to control Kyuubi’s chakra. But
Jiraiya wonders why Minato had to choose his own child to be
Kyuubi’s host. The frog suggests that maybe Minato
just did it out of love for his child, but Jiraiya says that Minato
wasn’t the type of person to do things without
reason. Jiraiya thinks that Minato must have foreseen
something in the future and therefore gave Kyuubi’s powers to
his son for a purpose. Jiraiya also brings up the
attack by Kyuubi on
Konoha over fifteen years ago. Everyone believes it was a
natural disaster or an act of god, but Jiraiya has been doubting that
idea. Jiraiya is sure that Kyuubi must have been
summoned. The frog calls him crazy and points out that the
Kyuubi is ancient and has appeared where human malice
accumulates. He says that no one has ever existed who had the
power to summon Kyuubi, but Jiraiya corrects the frog and states that
there was one person who could: the founder of the Uchiha clan, Madara
Uchiha. The frog lets out a loud laugh. He calls
Jiraiya crazy for suggesting the idea because Madara was alive at the
founding of Konoha, so there’s no way he could have been
alive 15-16 years ago to summon the Kyuubi. Jiraiya admits
that it is common knowledge that Madara was defeated by the First
Hokage at the Valley of the End. Still, Jiraiya has a feeling
that something bad is about to happen. At that moment, at the Valley of the End, Tobi sits atop the statue of Madara Uchiha. He stares with great intensity, across the waterfall, into the statue of the First Hokage. Thanks for Reading. Join in the discussion here: >>Blog Entry & Discussion
