MenuCHAPTER 367 - Itachi and Sasuke The
Uchiha brothers stare down at each other, but maintain their
distance. Sasuke comments that Itachi hasn’t changed at
all, including his cold and dark eyes. Itachi taunts Sasuke and
asks if he’s going to rush in screaming this time too.
Sasuke tells Itachi he doesn’t know anything about him. In
the blink of the eye, Sasuke uses body flicker to appear behind his
brother with Chidori already activated in his hand. Sasuke
immediately extends the Chidori into a blade and plunges it into
Itachi’s back. The blade skewers Itachi and plunges into
the ceiling, leaving him suspended in midair. Sasuke tells Itachi
he doesn’t know a thing about the hatred he has bottled up inside
or how strong it has made him. Sasuke then spreads his palm and
commands the Chidori to explode into a series of spikes that tear
through Itachi.
Inside a back alley, Tsunade throws up on the ground.
Jiraiya tells her to stop drinking so much and take a break.
Later, at a park bench, Tsunade ponders about how powerful the Akatsuki
leader must be if he managed to gather and control a group like
Akatsuki. She worries that Jiraiya is walking into something that
might be over his head. She tells Jiraiya to be sure to come back
alive because she won’t be able to take it if she loses him on
top of everything else. Jiraiya laughs and jokes that Tsunade
probably won’t cry as much for him as she did for Dan.
Tsunade calls Jiraiya a fool, but he replies with a bet. He asks
Tsunade to bet that he will die because her luck is so bad that she
never wins at anything. Jiraiya starts to ask Tsunade for
something if he does come back alive (perhaps marriage), but stops
halfway and tells her he was just joking. He pulls out his
‘Icha Icha Paradise’ book and says that a guy gets stronger
after he gets turned down, plus it helps him gather
material for his books. Tsunade asks if he is saying it’s a
man’s duty to be strong. Jiraiya replies that happiness
isn’t something men are meant to pursue.Tsunade giggles and tells Jiraiya to stop trying to act all cool. After a moment’s silence, she becomes serious again and asks Jiraiya to send one of his toad messengers if he gets into trouble because she will come to him immediately. Jiraiya tells her stop saying such things because she is the Hokage and
the village is always her first priority. Tsunade comments that
there are many people who can take over as Hokage, but Jiraiya insists
that there is no one who is better at the job than her. Tsunade
brings up Kakashi as a candidate and also mentions Naruto.
However, Jiraiya believes that Naruto still has a ways to go.
Tsunade argues that Jiraiya even taught Naruto the Rasengan but Jiraiya
says
that it was for old time’s sake because Naruto is just like
Minato Namikaze. Jiraiya remarks that Minato was a rare genius
that only appears once in a decade; he was kind yet had incredible
spirit and became the Fourth Hokage faster than anyone had
anticipated. Tsunade thinks Naruto resembles her mother more than
he does to his father, Minato. Jiraiya recalls
that Naruto’s mother was a kunoichi from the former Whirlpool
Country. When comparing personality and techniques, Tsunade
believes that Naruto is exactly like her mother, Kushina Uzumaki.
Jiraiya recalls that she was a tomboy and had red hair. Tsuande
comments that even though Kushina was a beauty when she grew up, Naruto
still resembles his father more. Jiraiya agrees and says he feels
like Naruto is his grandson when he’s training him. He then
grabs his ninja scroll and prepares to set out. Before he leaves,
Jiraiya advises Tsunade to be wary of “Root.” Tsunade
responds that she is aware of the danger they pose. Itachi lies in a pool of his own blood. He tells Sasuke he has become strong, but suddenly his body begins to morph. Seconds later, Itachi’s body has scattered into a bunch of crows – it was his Shadow Clone
all along. His voice echoes through the cavern and tells Sasuke
to come to the Uchiha hideout alone. They will settle things
there. On the perimeter of the Hidden Village in the Rain, a lone frog surfaces on a river. It opens its mouth to allow a human arm to push through. A moment later, Jiraiya has pulled his entire body out from the frog. He declares the infiltration a success but wonders if it was a little too easy. Inside the Rain village, Pein is suddenly alerted. He tells his partner that something has disturbed his rain and that based on the chakra, the infiltrator seems skilled.
