MenuCHAPTER 358 - Trapped by C-2
Deidara tells Tobi to get
ready. The tail of the giant clay dragon suddenly truncates by one
segment. On the other end, the dragon’s mouth opens
and expels forth a large amount of spherical clay bombs.
Deidara orders Tobi to get working.Sasuke surmises that the dragon must be one large explosive, but thinks Deidara could also be using it to fly and attack from above. He draws his sword and charges at them. Tobi asks Deidara to show him the power of his “pop art”, but
Deidara corrects Tobi and says his art style is
“superflat.” (for references, see
Wikipedia: pop art, superflat).
The dragon opens its maw again and
launches a miniature clay dragon at Sasuke. Sasuke sidesteps
to avoid it, but it follows his movement and nearly catches him in the explosion. Sasuke
realizes that the last bomb was different than the others, as if it was
guided.Deidara takes off into the air atop his dragon. Yet as the smoke clears, Sasuke sees no trace of Tobi or the dozens of spherical bombs anywhere on the ground. He decides to just deal with Deidara first and extends a Chidori blade upwards. However, the blade
cannot stretch long enough and falls short of piercing the
dragon’s legs. Deidara recognizes the attack as
similar to Kakashi’s Raikari, but is impressed Sasuke can use
shape manipulation to stretch it to such an extent. Being a
long range fighter, Deidara makes note that the maximum range of
Sasuke’s blade is only five meters and has his dragon stay
just out of that range.Deidara orders another mini-dragon bomb to be launched at Sasuke. The explosion is larger than the last, but Sasuke still
manages to use his speed to avoid getting caught. However, as
he dashes to one side of the field, he suddenly feels something coming
up from beneath the ground. A large explosion from beneath
the ground catches Sasuke by surprise, but he was able to activate his
level 2 cursed seal to help him survive the blast. Tobi
appears from underneath the ground and tells Deidara he finished
planting the clay mines.
Deidara gloats to Sasuke that his C-2 combination has him completely
trapped. With land mines on the ground and guide bombs from
above, Sasuke has no where to run or hide. For his next attack,
Deidara orders an extra large clay dragon bomb to be made. When he sees
Sasuke’s wings start to move, he hastily launches the bomb to
prevent Sasuke from escaping to the air. The attack works and
the subsequent explosion completely destroys one of Sasuke’s
wings, rendering him flightless. The force of the explosion
also appears to have thrown
his sword several meters away, as it is standing upright with the blade
stuck into the ground. Believing Sasuke to be helpless,
Deidara creates another supersized bomb. But Sasuke suddenly
pulls on wires which Deidara had not detected. They are
attached to two large shurikens he had thrown just prior to the
explosion, but Deidara is able to move his dragon and dodge
them. Deidara mocks Sasuke for his pathetic attack and sends his
finished bomb flying at him. Sasuke makes a quick leap to his
left, but Deidara notes that he is jumping right into an area where his
mines are planted. However, Sasuke does not land on the
ground, but instead steps onto the hilt of his sword that was planted
into the ground and uses it as a foothold to leap upwards at
Deidara. Using the extra height from his sword and the
momentum from his remaining wing, Sasuke is able to get within five
meters of Deidara’s dragon. Activating his Chidori
blade, he cuts right through one of its wings.![]() Deidara realizes too late that Sasuke had planned this all along; he threw his sword out on purpose in order to find a spot where there was no landmine present. With only one wing, the clay dragon loses balance and begins to fall. To Deidara’s dismay, it is falling directly onto a spot where his landmines are concentrated. To make sure Deidara does not escape, Sasuke pulls on his wires again and uses the two large shurikens from earlier to pin Deidara’s arms into the dragon’s back. Deidara and his dragon crash to the ground and trigger a massive explosion as the surrounding mines all go off.
