MenuCHAPTER 349 - The North Hideout
 Sasuke, Karin and Suigetsu walk along a shoreline
towards their next destination, the North Hideout. Karin
warns them that they’ll be killed if they’re not
careful. It is where Orochimaru conducts his human
experimentations, and all his monstrous creations are kept locked up
inside.Inside a dark cell, the man known as Jugo continues to mutter to himself. It seems he was deciding whether he will kill a man or a woman next. A sudden scream echoes down the hallway from outside his door. Jugo comments that ‘they’ have already started.   After walking for a while,
Suigetsu complains he is tired again and sits down to sip his water.
Karin calls him pathetic and informs him that they still have a ways to
go. Suigetsu tells Karin she doesn’t need to worry
about it since she isn’t headed to the same place as them.
Karin becomes agitated and says she just remembered she had something
to do at the North Hideout, so she’ll be coming too.The trio decides to take a short break. Karin takes the opportunity to ask Suigetsu his reason for joining Sasuke. Suigestsu responds that he his own  goals and being with Sasuke will make them come
true. He then tells Karin that he should be the one asking
her that same question. Karin doesn’t answer and instead asks
them if they really know anything about Jugo considering they want him
on the team. Suigetsu explains that he has fought with him
once in the past. He was strong and had some interesting
powers, but Suigetsu didn’t like him because he
couldn’t tell what Jugo was really thinking.Suigetsu had heard rumors that Jugo came to Orochimaru on his own. Because of that he believes Jugo must not be right in the head. Karin asks if Suigetsu knew why Jugo approached Orochimaru on his own free will, but Suigetsu assumed he was just a stupid idiot. Karin reveals that Jugo came to the North Hideout to be 
rehabilitated. Jugo suffers from a condition that drives him
to kill. It is similar to a drug addiction where his killing
impulses won’t subside unless he murders someone.
Normally, Jugo’s impulses are kept in control, but they will
build up and eventually cause him to lose all sense of himself and
become a berserker. Suigetsu comments that Jugo was using a
different kind of power when they fought. Karin  explains
that Orochimaru was very interested in Jugo’s powers and used
his body fluids to create a special enzyme that could manifest the same
condition in other shinobi. That enzyme is what is used to
create the Cursed Seal. Inside the North Hideout,
all hell has broken loose. A prisoner who was implanted with
the Cursed Seal has broken free and has slaughtered a dozen guards in
the hallways. He advances his Cursed Seal even further and
exclaims that he is escaping from this place and will kill anyone who
gets in his way.After another short walk, Suigetsu sits down and wants to rest again. Karin yells at him for being so lazy and tells him they are already outside the North Hideout. She starts telling  him to leave the sword because it’s
probably too heavy for him, but Sasuke notices something. It
is the body of one of the guards at the hideout and he is nearly
dead. The guard recognizes Sasuke and asks him for
help. When the prisoners heard about Orochimaru’s
death, they all began rioting. He tries to say more but his
injuries are too severe and he dies. Karin suddenly detects
something dangerous approaching them. The Cursed Seal
prisoner from earlier has made it to the outside and leaps down to
where Sasuke and the others are gathered. Suigetsu asks what
it is and Karin explains that it’s one of the prisoners and
he is already in his Cursed Seal level 2 state. But before
the prisoner can make another move, Sasuke draws his sword and finishes
his attack in the blink of the eye. Several cuts appear
in the prisoner’s transformed skin, spurting out  blood. The Cursed Seal transformation
reverts back and all the prisoner is left with is a shocked expression
on his face. As the prisoner falls down unconscious, Sasuke
sheathes
his sword and says they should go find Jugo now.Inside his cell, Jugo has begun transforming into his level 1 Cursed Seal state. He has made his decision and says that if the next person to open the door is a woman, he will kill her.
