MenuCHAPTER 338 - If You Curse Someone
Kakashi lets out a sigh of relief and compliments Yamato and
his
team on their good timing. Both Ino and Chojo are very
thankful
that their friends arrived in time to save them. Yamato tells
Kakashi this is the first time he has seen him look so
uncool.
Kakashi replies it’s because their opponent is really tough. Kakuzu takes a look at Naruto and comments that another weird shinobi has arrived, but this one seems to be all beaten up already (from his training). Naruto looks around and asks where Shikamaru is. Choji informs Naruto about Shikamaru’s  whereabouts.
Kakashi summons Pakkun and asks for a long range and medical type to go
over and help Shikamaru. Yamato tells Sakura and Sai to
follow
Pakkun’s lead.
Kakuzu seems unfazed by the arrival of reinforcements and
chuckles that all that has changed is the variation of hearts he can
choose from. Naruto steps forward and says he will take it from
here. Sakura tells him she is counting on him and takes off
with
Pakkun and Sai. Kakashi looks over at Naruto’s
stained
hands and asks Yamato if the new jutsu is  complete.
Yamato answers that it’s only about 60%, but asks Kakashi to
watch closely because Naruto is a completely different ninja than
before.Hidan laughs wildly. Although Shikamaru’s Shadow Bind is still in effect, it is weak enough that Hidan can overpower it with force. He tells Shikamaru that if he had believed in his god, Jashin, he might have had a 
way out of this situation. But Hidan adds that even if
Shikamaru
were to reform right now, there is no reason for Jashin to forgive
him. Hidan plunges down his spike, but Shikamaru suddenly
raises
his hand to strengthen his  jutsu
and stop Hidan in his tracks. He tells Hidan he
doesn’t
want to be forgiven by such a thing as Jashin anyways.
Shikamaru
clenches his hand and activates Shadow Summon (Kageyose) whereupon
dozens of shadow strands appear from Hidan’s position and
expand
in every direction. The shadows grab hold of all the wires
surrounding them and reel them in around Hidan’s
body.
Hidan curses Shikamaru as his body is covered with the explosive tags
that are attached to the wires binding him. Shikamaru then
throws
a knife at a marking placed on the ground. This triggers
another
trap Shikamaru had set up. The earth suddenly begins to
crumble
underneath Hidan revealing a deep pit. It suddenly hits Hidan that Shikamaru didn’t just separate him from Kakuzu without thinking; he had every step of this elaborate trap planned all along. Shikamaru picks up the pack of Asuma’s cigarettes he had placed on the ground and lights one. He recites to Hidan an old saying that says if you curse someone to die you dig your own grave too. He tells Hidan this is his punishment for killing Asuma and that the pit below him is his grave. Hidan laughs and says that he can’t die; even if he only has a head left, he’ll still  climb
out and rip out Shikamaru’s throat. Shikamaru shows
no sign
of fear. He tells Hidan that this forest is special and
belongs
to his clan. No one else can set foot in it, so the Nara clan
will always keep watch on him.A familiar hand pats Shikamaru on the shoulder. He turns around to see an apparition of Asuma standing behind him. Asuma tells Shikamaru that he did well and that he entrusts to him his ‘Will of Fire.’ As Asuma’s form dissolves into the smoke from the cigarette, Shikamaru knows he is now at peace. He says his final farewell to his sensei and tosses the cigarette at Hidan. One graze from the hot cinders is all it takes to trigger the explosive tags. The resulting explosion consumes Hidan.
