MenuCHAPTER 337 - Shikamaru's Talent 
Believing that Shikamaru is dead, Hidan turns
around and begins heading back to Kakuzu’s
location. Shikamaru seizes the opportunity to quickly close
in on Hidan and aims his blade for his neck. The attack
catches Hidan by surprise, knocking his forehead protector to the
ground and leaving a large gash in his neck. Shikamaru had
aimed for a deeper cut to completely decapitate Hidan and thereby
incapacitate him. Now he has no choice but to use his Shadow
Bind again to hold Hidan down.A dumbfounded Hidan asks Shikamaru why he is still alive. Shikamaru explains to his opponent that  he just
pretended he had been killed; the blood which Hidan had licked off his
weapon was actually Kakuzu’s. Shikamaru’s
battle plan was to create an opening where one of his teammates can
have a chance to injure Kakuzu and obtain some of his
blood.
When Kakashi managed to do this, he passed the blood capsule to
Shikamaru and it became his job to trick Hidan. When Hidan
swiped at Shikamaru with his spike, it didn’t actually
connect. Shikamaru used that chance to squirt
Kakazu’s blood from the capsule onto Hidan’s
weapon. It was flawlessly executed and Hidan fell right into
the trap. Back at the battle against Kakuzu, the Akatsuki member falls face down onto the ground where he remains motionless. Kakashi forcefully pulls Kakuzu’s tendrils from his body. Ino tells Kakashi to be gentler because she can treat him with medical  ninjutsu, but Kakashi knows they
don’t have time to relax just yet.
Kakuzu’s remaining masks monstrosities make a mad dash at the
Konoha shinobi. Chouji takes the initiative and activates his
Expansion technique. He grows several times his normal size
and towers over the mask creatures. Chouji then uses a jutsu
called Super Slap (Chou Harite) by channeling chakra into the palms of
his hands and slapping down on the masks  creatures. However
it is not enough to stop the masks and their black tendrils seep out
from the ground and continue to race forward. Their target is
Kakuzu and they quickly overfill his body. One of the masks
disintegrates, indicating another one of Kakuzu’s hearts was
destroyed. Kakuzu is revived, but his form is becoming less
and less human as tendrils are flowing out of every joint and crevice
in his body. Kakuzu is pissed; it has been a long time since
someone has managed to destroy two of his hearts. Hidan laughs at his
predicament. He
points out that after being caught so many times by
Shikamaru’s jutsu, even an idiot can figure out its
weaknesses. He notes that the Shadow Bind isn’t as
strong as before since he still has limited mobility. He
speculates that Shikamaru’s Shadow jutsu weakens with each
use and that Shikamaru must be at his chakra limit since he has used
his jutsu so many times already. Hidan lets out an insane
laugh as he overpowers the Shadows and raises his spike to
attack
Shikamaru.In his new form, Kakuzu has quickly entangled Kakashi, Ino and Choji with his tendrils. His two remaining masks emerge on either side of his  head
and prepare for another
attack. Kakashi and the others are helpless to
defend
themselves as the masks unleash another combined Wind and Fire element
attack. But suddenly, Naruto and Yamato appear to counter
Kakuzu’s attack. Naruto combines his Wind element
Rasengan with Yamato’s Water element jutsu Destrutive Torrent
(Hahonryu) to create a new jutsu called Hurricane Whirlpool (Gufuu
Suika). The swirling mass of wind and water completely blocks out
Kakazu’s amplified flames. The reinforcements have
arrived and Yamato, Naruto, Sakura and Sai emerge to aid their battered
teammates.
