MenuCHAPTER 335 - A Secret to be Feared  Everyone has gathered
around Kakashi once again,
but before they can organize a new strategy, Kakuzu unleashes his
fourth elemental attack upon them. Kakuzu’s last mask opens
wide and expels a torrent of fire racing towards the Konoha
ninja. Luckily everyone was able to either evade or find
cover from the fire. Kakashi chooses to take to the air, but
Hidan quickly catches up to him and swings down his scythe.
Kakashi readies a kunai and parries several of Hidan’s
attacks while scaling the treetops. Hidan admits he is
impressed because he could not get a single scratch off Kakashi. Once again, Kakashi’s team regroups, this time Hidan and Kakuzu wait for them to make a move first. Kakashi has used four Raikiri attacks so far while maintaining the Sharingan, he knows he cannot keep up at this pace. Despite their constant bickering, Hidan and Kakuzu have very good teamwork  when it comes to fighting.
Kakashi takes the pause in fighting to further analyze the events of
their battle so far. There was no mistake that he had crushed
Kakuzu’s heart with his first Raikiri, but all he seemed to
have killed is one of the mask creatures which came out of
Kakuzu. Shikamaru comments that when Kakuzu’s
detached arm removed his chakra blade earlier, it was attached to a
black mass that resembled a heart. He
concludes that, most
likely, Kakuzu and his monsters each have individual
hearts.
This means Kakuzu had five hearts to begin with and they must destroy
four more if they want to completely defeat him.Kakuzu confirms Shikamaru’s analysis. He adds that all his hearts were taken from shinobi he had previously defeated, and that each is replaceable with new hearts - such as their own. Kakashi realizes that the reason Kakuzu can manipulate so many chakra elements is because he incorporated the chakra tubes inside those hearts, allowing him to access whatever elements the hearts’ previous owners had used. Turning to Shikamaru, Kakashi asks him how they should proceed with this battle. Shikamaru suggests they attempt to separate the two Akatsuki members from each other. This will stop their combined  assaults, and allow them to target Kakazu, the
one they know
they can at least kill. But this means someone will need to
take on Hidan. Ino volunteers herself because she has
conserved the most chakra so far and can use her Mind Transfer jutsu to
at least trap Hidan. Shikamaru immediately rejects the idea
because Ino’s jutsu is best used in combination with his
Shadow Bind jutsu. If the opponent is still mobile and Ino
misses, it will take several minutes for her consciousness to return to
her body. Shikamaru determines that he must do  it himself by
capturing Hidan in his Shadow Bind again and then moving somewhere
else. Choji wants to assist Shikamaru by being the bait to
distract Hidan, but Shikamaru rejects his offer as well because
it’s game over if even a little of his blood is
spilled. He advises Choji to conserve his strength to help
Kakashi defeat Kakuzu. Shikamaru is resolute that he alone
will be the one to deal with the murderer of Asuma. Realizing Shikamaru’s intentions, everyone agrees to the plan. Before they begin, Kakashi hands over a small object to Shikamaru. Shikamaru steps forth and unleashes  several shadow strands that lengthen towards his
enemies. Hidan laughs at Shikamaru for using cowardly long
range attacks again. Hidan escapes into the trees while
Kakuzu and his monsters spread out on the ground. One of the
shadow strands scales up a tree to reach Hidan, but as Hidan is trying
to evade it, he suddenly
notices a chakra blade flying at him from
another direction. Shikamaru had used another shadow strand to grab one
of the blades still stuck to the ground and fling it at his
opponent. Hidan jumps to an adjacent tree just a split second
before the chakra blade could connect with his shadow. But
Shikamaru is not done yet and  throws the blade again with his
shadow. It seems the second one would hit its mark but Hidan
manages to escape by sinking his scythe into the tree and uses it to
pull his shadow out of the way.Hidan is quite proud of himself and is confident that as long as he watches his shadow, Shikamaru’s attacks are useless. But just then, Shikamaru himself appears from the other side of the tree and lands a solid punch on Hidan’s face. This time, Shikamaru used his body’s natural shadow to connect to Hidan’s shadow as his punch connected. As Hidan recoils and falls back to the ground, he realizes he is once again caught by Shikamaru.
