MenuCHAPTER 334 - Black Transformation  Kakashi has impaled Kakuzu
through the heart with
his Raikiri. Now there’s only Hidan left.
Shikamaru’s hold on his Shadow Bind jutsu is reaching its
limit and he calls on Kakashi to finish off Kakuzu quickly.
Kakashi sees that his opponent is finished, but before he releases
Kakuzu he cracks open the capsule that Shikamaru had given
him
earlier. After which Kakashi pulls his hand out and lets
Kakuzu drop to the ground. Hidan just smirks and calls Kakuzu
stupid for getting killed so instantly with only one thrust to the
heart.
Kakashi activates another Raikiri and turns to
Hidan to tell him he is next. But as Kakashi charges forward,
he is suddenly knocked back by a stiff kick to the chest by none other
than Kakuzu. Everyone is shocked at how Kakuzu is still
alive; especially Kakashi who was certain he did not miss the vital
point.Hidan tells his partner to hurry up and end this. Kakuzu removes his cloak to unveil a set of four masks sewn directed into the flesh of his back. One of the masks is shattered because it was hit by Kakashi’s Raikiri. Upon Kakuzu’s command, the masks break the stitchings and  burst out from his back, each of them is attached
to a mass of
Kakuzu’s black sinews. At the same time,
Shikamaru’s Shadow Bind reached its limit and he has no
choice but to release Hidan. Choji turns to Shikamaru and
asks why Kakuzu didn’t die; Shikamaru replies that he is just
not surprised by the little stuff anymore with these Akatsuki
guys. Kakuzu’s four masks each form a large and
monstrous body with their black sinews. Ino, still hidden
nearby, senses very bad chakra emanating from them. Hidan is ready to finally have a chance to go all out. He calls upon his god Janshin to watch him as he is going to drag out the innards of all the enemies. The monstrosity formed by  the shattered mask suddenly begins to
howl. Shikamaru thought
it was going to attack, but instead it gurgles and the black mass of
sinew dissolves to the ground. The anti-climax leaves
everyone silent for a moment. Hidan calls Kakuzu pathetic
because one his mask really did get killed. Kakashi realizes
what he hit earlier was only one of Kakuzu’s masks; killing
Kakuzu is going to be tougher than he had thought. Kakuzu tells Hidan to stand back because he and his masks are going to take care of things. Hidan replies that he wants to get some payback too and suggests that they attack with the usual combo. Kakashi readies his kunai as Hidan relentlessly attacks him with his  scythe. But just as their battle
intensifies, one of Kakuzu’s mask monstrosities appears
behind Hidan and fires off a Wind element attack called Pressure Damage
(Fuuton Atsugai). The blast catches both Hidan and Kakashi in
its wake. Ino witnesses the attack from nearby and realizes
that Kakuzu is playing dirty by using Hidan’s immortality to
their advantage, thus allowing him to attack indiscriminately. Shikamaru and Choji shield
themselves from the
immense force of the shockwave from the blast. But before
they can recover, Kakuzu turns his attention to them.
Shikamaru tells Choji to get ready for an attack as one of the masks
unleashes a Lightning ninjutsu called False Darkness (Raiton
Gian). Ino sees that her teammates have no way of blocking
such an attack and yells at them to run. The Lightning attack
is too fast for Choji and Shikamaru to evade, but fortunately, Kakashi
suddenly rushes to their rescue and counters it with a Raikiri in each
hand.Kakashi somehow managed to narrowly escape the Wind element  attack, but his head band and uniform vest have
all been
blasted away. It is clear to Kakashi that Kakuzu is far
stronger than he had anticipated. The jutsus which the masks
perform are high caliber attacks and require a mastery of each
elemental chakra. Even so, Kakuzu has already demonstrated he
can manipulate Earth, Wind, and Lightning elements. Hidan
congratulates Kakashi because he is the first one they
couldn’t kill with their previous combo attack.
Kakuzu comments that Kakashi must have seen through their attack with
his Sharingan, but then asks him if he is able to escape the next
one. One of the remaining masks steps forth and prepares to
unleash a Fire element attack called Intense Pain (Katon Zukkoku).
