MenuCHAPTER 327 - Inside the Despair  In Konoha, Kurenai is
watering the flowers on her windowsill when one of the flower blossoms
falls off entirely from its stem and breaks
into pieces upon hitting the ground. It is a bad omen that
something terrible has occurred. Indeed, at that moment Asuma
has been fatally wounded by a piercing strike in the heart through
Hidan’s curse jutsu. Blood fills Asuma’s
mouth and he collapses to the ground. Hidan exclaims ecstasy as
he takes pleasure in the pain he inflicted on himself, knowing that it
is the same pain being felt by Asuma as he dies. Tears well
up in Shikamaru’s eyes and he shouts out Asuma’s
name. He loses his balance and trips,
falling flat to the ground. The black markings on
Hidan’s body recede and he informs Kakuzu he is
finished. Kakuzu replies he will be done soon too and
intensifies his grip on Kotetsu and Izumo’s
throats. Shikamaru becomes blinded by his rage, he gets up to
his feet again and makes a wild charge at Kakuzu. With one
whip of his black tendrils, Kakuzu picks Izumo off his feet and sends
him crashing into Shikamaru, knocking both of them to the
ground. But suddenly, the area becomes enveloped by hundreds
of black crows. Hidan is confused by the diversion, but
Kakuzu recognizes it as a jutsu intended to block the vision of the  opponent. However, before he can
counter the effect, a black blade appears from the sea of
crows. At the last second, Kakuzu is able to catch a glimpse
of another Konoha ninja (Raido Namiashi) amongst the crows and turn his
head in time to receive only a glancing cut to the right side of his
head. But the close hit was dangerous enough to cause Kakuzu
to release his hold on Izumo and Kotetsu and retract his arms. The reinforcements have
arrived to help, the new team is composed of Chouji Akimichi, Ino
Yamanaka, Raido Namiashi and Aoba Yamashiro. Chouji appears
next to Asuma and carries him out of harm’s way.
Ino lands next to Shikamaru to check on him and brings him to safety as
well. On a nearby rooftop, it is revealed that the Konoha chuunin named Aoba Yamashiro was
responsible for the crow diversion technique. As Hidan and Kakuzu leap
back and out of the sea of crows, Ino and Chouji bring Shikamaru and
Asuma to the rooftop. Once Asuma is laid down, Shikamaru
immediately checks for a pulse and hears that there is still a faint
heartbeat. He tells Chouji to hurry and bring Asuma directly
to the Konoha hospital and asks Ino to go along and keep Asuma alive
using medical ninjutsu. But before  they can take off, Kakuzu leaps up onto the
rooftop and tells them they’re not going anywhere with his
bounty.Aoba tells them to transport Asuma to the hospital while the rest of them hold off the 
Akatsuki members. Hidan comments that no matter what they do,
in the end they will all be sacrifices for the gods. But
before anyone can act, Hidan and Kakuzu both receive a telepathic
message from the Akatsuki leader himself. Sitting upon a
statue situated amongst a modern looking cityscape, the Akastsuki
leader orders them to return immediately because they are ready to seal
the Three-Tail beast demon. Hidan whines that
they’re just getting to the good part, but Kakuzu warns him
to stop talking back to the leader. Before they disappear,
Kakuzu warns the Konoha ninja to prepare themselves because that
they’ll be back soon.
