Shikamaru has Hidan trapped in his Shadow Bind
jutsu. He
begins to slowly move back himself, forcing Hidan to move as
well. Shikamaru plans on dragging Hidan out of his circular inscription on the ground because he believes it
is part of his
“curse” jutsu. From the size and shape of
Hidan’s three-sickle scythe weapon, Shikamaru has surmised
that
its purpose is to allow Hidan to make rough long range attacks rather
than precise and clean hits. This means Hidan only seeks to
land
a single wound on his opponent, because then he has a way to
kill
him through his curse. The link between Hidan and his cursed
opponent is made through blood. This was why Hidan licked his
blade after it cut Asuma on the cheek, and why his body immediately
changed color right afterwards. The last condition of the
curse
is the inscription circle. When Asuma enveloped Hidan in his
Ash
Cloud jutsu, Hidan did not attempt to escape but instead returned to
the middle of the circle. Hidan made the purpose of the circle obvious when said his
"preparations are complete" when he stepped inside it.
Hidan becomes infuriated at having all his secrets revealed
by
Shikamaru. He screams at Shikamaru and threatens to tear,
grind
and splatter him to death after he gets out of the Shadow
Bind.
Shikamaru tells him that there won’t be an after and
moves
one last time to shift Hidan completely out of the circle.
Asuma
readies to attack Hidan, but first makes sure the curse has indeed worn
off. He throws a shuriken
which inflicts a small cut to Hidan’s left ear.
Shikamaru’s hypothesis is proven correct when the same wound
does
not appear on Asuma’s ear. Shikamaru unleashes more shadow strands which stab into Hidan’s flesh to make sure he is completely immobile. He tells Asuma that he is nearly at his limit. Asuma thanks Shikamaru for his great work and steps closer towards Hidan. He grips his trench knife in one hand increases the chakra flow so  that a chakra sword blade is formed.
Hidan becomes desperate and yells at
Kakuzu to give him a hand. But Kakuzu stands idly by and only
replies that he warned him not to let his guard down. Asuma
raises his blade and, in one quick motion, beheads Hidan.
With the task done, Shikamaru is finally able to
release
his Shadow Bind, causing Hidan’s lifeless body to collapse to
the
ground. Izumo and Kotetsu turn towards Kakuzu as he is the
only
remaining enemy. However, Kakuzu pays them no mind and
instead
talks to Hidan’s head which had rolled to his feet.
Everyone is shocked when Hidan’s head suddenly begins to
shout at
Kakuzu for allowing this to happen purposefully. Kakuzu tells
Hidan he was the one who had told him not to interfere. Hidan
admits his mistakes and asks Kakuzu to bring his body over.
Instead, Kakuzu picks up Hidan’s head and tells Hidan that
it’s lighter this way.
