MenuCHAPTER 321 - A Way with Words Kakashi tells Naruto he has
something very interesting to show him and adds that he also has a few
more things to explain before their break is over. Naruto
becomes worried that Kakashi will give another one his long lectures,
but Kakashi reassures him that he has a way with words and will make this talk more interesting. As
everyone gets up to leave, Kakashi asks Yamato to pay the bill for the
ramen. Yamato protests that it’s the senpai
(senior) that should pay in these situations. Kakashi replies
that he respects Yamato so much that he sees him as an equal, but
admits that technically he should be the one to pay. Yamato,
flattered by Kakashi’s words, changes his mind and insists on
paying the bill himself. Naruto grins to himself after seeing
how skillfully Kakashi persuaded Yamato with only his words. When they arrive back to the training grounds, Naruto gets anxious about what Kakashi is going to demonstrate. But first, Kakashi reviews with Naruto what he has learned during the training. Naruto already has a good grasp of the spatial recomposition of chakra when he was taught the
Rasengan, his current training has been to teach him the technique of
elemental recomposition. To be able to apply both chakra
manipulation techniques will greatly increase a shinobi’s
attacks, but few are able to apply both concepts together in one
jutsu. The Rasengan relies solely on the spatial recompostion
of chakra; by applying elemental recomposition to it, Naruto will be able to create a powerful new jutsu of his own.Naruto becomes excited because he thinks it will be a piece of cake since he has learned both chakra manipulation methods now. Kakashi explains that it’s not as easy as just adding one to the other because if that was the case, he wouldn’t have needed to develop Chidori. Kakashi then shows Naruto what he has
been waiting for. He puts his hand forth in an open palm
position and begins to concentrate his chakra. The chakra
begins to swirl violently and suddenly forms the spiraling sphere of
the Rasengan. Naruto is shocked that Kakashi knew this technique as
well but is confused when his sensei says that this was as far as he
could go with the Rasengan. Kakashi was not able to improve
the Rasengan because he wasn’t able to successfully
elementally recompose his lightning chakra into the jutsu. Yamato
explains that it takes an incredible amount of skill and time to
combine elemental and spatial chakra recomposition together.
Some would say that it would require natural talent or sense to succeed.Kakashi was taught the Rasengan by his sensei, the Fouth Hokage, who produced the justu by developing a very high level of spatial recomposition of chakra. But the Rasengan is not complete because the Fourth had originally intended to combine
elemental recomposition skills with it. At the current level,
the Rasengan is an A-class jutsu, but if it were ever developed
completed, Kaksashi speculates it would be at least an S-class or
higher justu. From here on out, Naruto can no longer be
taught and will have to find out what to do all on his own.
Before leaving Naruto to his work, Kakashi provides words of
encouragement by telling Naruto he has great expectations of him and
that he believes Naruto is the one who can surpass the Foruth
Hokage. As Yamato walks away with Kakashi, he admits that
Kakashi is quite skillful with his words. Kakashi
replies that it is not the case this time because he truly believes in
what he said to Naruto.![]() Inside the hidden room at the exchange site, Kakuzu concludes his deal with the underground agent. Before Kakuzu leaves, the agent offers him a bit of advice. He tells Kakuzu that he should probably ditch his partner because, unlike Kakuzu, Hidan doesn’t seem to be interested in money at all. Kakuzu replies that he is well aware of his
partner’s traits.Asuma’s team makes quick progress through the forest to the exchange point closest to them. Along the way, Shikamaru asks Asuma what kind of relationship he had with Chiriku. Asuma asks the chuunin what brought this up. Shikamaru answers that he has observed that Asuma has not smoked
in two days despite being a very heavy smoker. He notes that
the last time Asuma suddenly quit like this was when the Third Hokage
had died. Everyone is silent for a moment, and then Asuma
tells Shikamaru that he and Chiriku served in the Twelve Shinobi
Guardsmen together. They were very close friends, similar to
the bond shared between Shikamaru and Choji; so in a sense, they were
brothers. As Shikamaru reflects on these words, Asuma
comments that smoking is one of those habits that you can never break
permanently.
