MenuCHAPTER 314 - Akatsuki Strikes
As Hidan and Kakuzu plan out their next move, Zetsu appears
by
literally emerging from the ground. When he asks Hidan if his
tediously long ritual is
finished, Hidan calls both Zetsu and Kakuzu infidels who are ignorant
of god and prayer. Zetsu states that when one is sad and
alone,
he can only count on himself. But Kakuzu argues that money is the only
thing you can really count on. Hidan tells Kakuzu that
it’s
his greed for money that has them running behind schedule.
Kakuzu
replies that it’s only natural for him because he is
responsible
for managing Akatsuki’s finances. Zetsu tells the
two to
stop arguing and continue with their assignment, he will take care of
the Two-Tail Jinchuuriki.
Some days later, Hidan and Kakuzu have entered the Country
of
Fire and traveled to the front gates of the famous Temple of
Fire. Moments later, the gates are forced open and the
Akatsuki
pair walks in. Inside the temple, the monks are alarmed that
the
Seal Gates have been so easily
breached and report the news to the head monk, a man named
Chiriku. When Chiriku hears that the men are dressed in the
garb
of Akatsuski, he tells the others to let him confront them alone while
everyone else act as support. When Chiriku approaches the
intruders, Hidan comments that he looks like another high-and-mighty
type. Kakuzu tells Hidan that the reward on the head of the
monk
in front of them is 30 million coins. The monks at the Temple
of Fire all possess a power known as the “divine
enlightenment.” Chiriku is especially dangerous
because he
was once a member of the Twelve Shinobi Guardsman, the elite escorts of
the Fire Country Daimyo. Hidan warns Kakuzu that
he’ll burn
in hell for killing a monk for money, but his partner replies that
money runs the underworld as well.![]() Inside a training area at Konoha, Kakashi talks to Naruto about the training they are about to commence. Naruto is happy that he gets to train with Kakashi again, but Kakashi warns that the work ahead of them will be hard and grueling. Kakashi begins to explain to Naruto that in order to develop an ultimate ninjutsu of his own, he will need to be able to command two types of chakra
control. One involves physical recomposition of the chakra;
the
other requires spatial recomposition. With the Chidori
technique,
the chakra is first physically reshaped into a form resembling
electricity. Then the user must spatially shape that same chakra to
determine the strength and range of the attack during the
discharge. The Rasengan
is similar to Chidori in that it is a very advanced form of spatial
recomposition. It compresses the chakra by spinning at violently high
speeds, but since spatial recomposition has already shaped the chakra
into a form that can be readily used to attack, there is no need for
physical recomposition. But to develop a jutsu to surpass the
Rasengan, the latter step is absolutely necessary. Kakashi
sees
that although Naruto is eager to get started, he clearly
didn’t
understand most of what he had been saying.
But Naruto is someone who learns with his body, so Kakashi begins
explaining about the secret to reducing their training time.At the memorial the Third Hokage, Asuma pays his respects to his
father. He admits that he is finally beginning to understand
what
his father had always preached. Asuma apologizes for when he
left
Konoha to do whatever he felt like (referring to when Asuma became one
of the Twelve Shinobi Guardsman), although he does not regret his
actions either. Before parting, Asuma leaves behind his
cigarette
and tells his father he was an admirable village elder and one damn
awesome dad.
At the Temple of Fire, the scenery has changed to one very
reminiscent of the battle with the Two-Tailed demon cat. Once
again, Hidan lies within an inscription
on the ground, performing his ceremony. Since they failed to
find
a Jinchuuriki here, he tells Kakuzu that they should move on.
Kakuzu picks up the corpse of Chiriku and insists that they need to
exchange the body for its bounty first. Hidan gets pissed and
tells his partner that it’s his greed and not the ceremonies
which are holding up their assignment. Hidden behind the
debris
of the temple, a sole surviving monk witnesses the scene and then
disappears to inform Konoha.
