MenuCHAPTER 313 - The New Pair
Hidan and Kakuzu have cornered the female Jinchuuriki possessing the
Two-Tail beast demon in an underground aqueduct system. But
before they can begin, Hidan pulls out a rosary bead and says he needs
to offer prayer to his god first. Kakuzu shows his annoyance,
and
Hidan admits he doesn’t like it either but his faith is very
strict
about these things. The Jinchuuriki isn’t going to
stand
around and wait; she triggers a series of explosive tags she had
planted on the entrance tunnels leading into the aqueduct.
The
explosions collapse the tunnels, sealing everyone inside. It
was
her intention all along to lure Hidan and Kakuzu into this confined
space where she may unleash her Jinchuuriki powers to their full
potential.![]() She reveals that her name is Yugito Nii of the Hidden Village of the Cloud, and swears that she will kill the two Akatsuki members. Hidan gets pissed when he hears Yugito’s blatant battlecry. Hidan explains
that whenever he gets hot-headed like this, he tends to neglect the
objectives of a mission and just go all out to destroy
everything. Kakuzu tells Hidan to shut up, because their
objectives are everything. But Hidan appears to ignore Kakuzu
and
continues to explain to Yugito that this assignment goes against his
beliefs. The dogma of his faith, the Jashin, is one of
absolute
carnage and does not allow him to leave someone half dead.
But
for this assignment, he must go against dogma and capture the
Jinchuuriki alive; leaving Hidan dissatisfied. He offers to
negotiate with Yugito and asks if she can just roll over and let them
capture her. Yugito scoffs at Hidan’s
offer and
releases a flood of the Two-Tail’s chakra from her
body.
Kakuzu calls Hidan an idiot for even suggesting his
offer.![]() The chakra quickly transforms into the gigantic form of the Two-Tailed demon cat, said to be the living spirit of vengeance. The demon cat first attacks Kakuzu, swiping down with its claws. Kakuzu attempts to block the blow with his hands, but is crushed underneath. Without pause, the demon cat turns its gaping maw at Hidan and releases a jet of chakra imbued fire. Hidan manages to jump away in time, but the force of the blast
collapses most
of the roof above the aqueduct. Hidan takes cover amongst the
debris and comments that he thought cats were sensitive to hot
stuff. He admits the situation isn’t
looking good
because Kakuzu is nowhere to be seen and he’s trapped like a
rat.![]() At the Konoh hospital, Asuma sits down on Kakshi’s bed to talk. But before they can begin, Kurenai knocks on the door and enters looking for Asuma. Kurenai’s presence seems to make Asuma pause and reconsider. He tells Kakashi they can talk later and leaves with Kurenai, leaving Kakashi dangling.
Back at the scene of the battle, the entire landscape above the
aqueduct is in ruins with nothing but debris and skeletal building
structures remaining. Amongst the debris, Hidan lies
motionless
in the
center of an inscription on the ground of a large circle with a
triangle on the inside; a pole-like weapon protrudes from its entry
point into his chest. As the black and white markings on his
hand
begin to fade away, Kakuzu, who is sitting nearby, tells Hidan to hurry
up because its been thirty minutes already. Hidan sits up and
yells at Kakuzu to leave him alone since the ceremony can’t
be
interrupted. Behind them on a stone column, Yugito Nii hangs
unconsciously while her blood drips downward from where her hands are
nailed together to the wall. Kakuzu tells Hidan he should
shorten
these creepy prayers and rituals because they need to move
on.
Hidan yanks the pole from his chest and angrily replies that shortening
his ceremonies would be sacrilegious. Kakuzu ignores
Hidan’s response and looks to his map. They have
literally
combed through the countryside and have one more Jinchuuriki to
capture. He tells Hidan that their next stop is the Country
of
Fire.
