MenuCHAPTER 299 - The Source of Strength The sight of Sai’s lifeless body hanging from the tree stops Yamato’s clone in his tracks. He curses Orochimaru and moves closer to examine the corpse.  Naruto, Sakura and the real Yamato are hurrying to catch up to Orochimaru’s trail. As Sakura grabs a branch to swing forward, the recent wound on her left arm flares up again. The sudden sharp pain causes Sakura to lose her grip and plummet to the ground below. Fortunately, Yamato is able to hurry to her side and break her fall. Yamato examines the wound that was inflicted by Naruto in his four-tail  state. He concludes that the
remaining Kyuubi chakra that lingers in the wound is acting like poison
and seeping into her system. This type of injury is not
something Sakura can heal with her level of medical jutsu.
How Naruto’s body can always endure it is truly amazing.Sakura sees Naruto becoming concerned and she lies to him by saying it was Orochimaru who attacked her. Yamato suggests that they taker a breather. Sakura is their only medical ninja, and although Yamato had previously said that time is short, he admits that rushing forward with both Naruto and Sakura recovering from their injuries is too brash.  Yamato tells Naruto they need to coordinate attack patterns because Sai is no longer his partner. After Yamato pulls Naruto to out of earshot of Sakura, he tells Naruto that he was the one that had hurt Sakura. The revelation stuns Naruto for a second but then he remembers back to his training with Jiraiya. There was one  instance where he regained
consciousness to find everything around him demolished and Jiraiya on
the brink on death. That time, he didn’t have any
recollection of what had happened either. Yamato tells Naruto that Sakura lied to protect him.
Naruto’s Kyuubi strength is impressive  but it can easily get
out of control. Yamato reveals that he possesses an ability
to suppress that power, but he can only do it if he is close to
Naruto. Relying on Kyuubi’s power may provide a
faster way to save Sasuke, but it is not Naruto’s true
strength. If Naruto continues to always rely on Kyuubi, he
will not only hurt himself but those close to him as well.
From now on Yamato will suppress Kyuubi’s power
completely. He tells Naruto that he is strong enough on his
own to not need Kyuubi’s strength. Naruto is
skeptical, but Yamato tells him that the only reason he has been able
to withstand the Kyuubi’s chakra all this time is because of
the strength of his own chakra. If Naruto truly wants to save
Saskue and to protect Sakura, he must do it with his own
power. Naruto realizes the truth in these words and agrees. Orochimaru and Kabuto are racing across a river. Orochimaru compliments Kanbuto on his brilliant work, Kabuto replies that it is because of Orochimaru that he is able to create countless dead bodies. He looks back and asks if he can use their new friend as part of his experiments. Following close behind them is Sai, still alive and well.  Yamato’s clone has finished examining the body and discovers that it is a fake. Had he not noticed the unnatural stitching on the body, he would have been fooled by Kabuto’s fake body. He didn’t expect them to have known they were being followed so soon, Yamato’s clone continues on their trail but will be extra cautious from now on. Sakura is resting by a tree. She opens Sai’s personal storybook that she found earlier and is surprised by its contents. She calls Naruto and Yamato over, and for the first time they are able to peer into Sai’s mysterious past.
