Sai confronts Orochimaru alone to fulfill his mission as
part of
Roots. The mention of Danzou’s name peaks
Orochimaru’s interest, but he warns Sai to speak carefully or
he
dies. Sai responds by saying he will only relay the message
as
Danzou had instructed and if it displeases Orochimaru, he may do as he
wish. 
Orochimaru lets out a small laugh and suddenly thrusts forth a sword
from his mouth that impales Sai. However, it was only one of
Sai’s ink clones, and it quickly melts away. The
real Sai
uncovers himself from hiding beneath the ground. Orochimaru
states to him that it’s impolite not to show your face when
speaking to your superiors.A distance away besides the shattered Tenchi Bridge, Sakura is desperately trying to heal Naruto’s body after it had been pushed to its limits by the Kyuubi  transformation.
She notices that the wounds are slower to heal than before;
Naruto’s Kyuubi chakra recovery used to be much
faster. As she continues to work, the wound in the arm she
received from the Four-tails Naruto enflames again and causes her great
pain. Yet Sakura bears with it until all of
Naruto’s wounds
are nearly healed.
She turns to Yamato and asks him to teach her the technique
he
had used to return Naruto back to normal. However, Yamato
informs
her that, unfortunately, he is the only person in Konoha who can use it
since he inherited the First Hokage’s cells. Even
then,
since Yamato is only an experimental copy, he cannot use that ability
as well as the original. The necklace Naruto wears around his
neck is a special chakra crystal once worn by the First Hokage that
only responds to his
chakra. It acted as an aid in this case to amplify
Yamato’s power and allowed him to successfully stop Naruto.Sakura is silent for a moment and then says she is always useless like this. She feels helpless because the only things she can do for Naruto are always so small. Yamato looks at the wound on Sakura arm and tells her it’s not a matter of  big
or small, but the strength behind the feelings she has for
Naruto. Sakura is caught off guard by this revelation and is
unsure
of how to respond. Yamato begins to tell her that
it’s
obvious that she cares more for Naruto than she lets on, but he is
interrupted when Naruto wakes up. Naruto sees a teary eyed
Sakura
and comes to the
conclusion that Sai must have insulted her by calling her a cow or
monstrously strong. Sakura punches Naruto to stop his
blabbering
and tells him he is the only one who calls her monstrously strong.
At the clearing, Orochimaru demands evidence from Sai
in order to gain his trust. Sai reaches into his
pack to
pull out something, but is suddenly tackled and pinned from
behind
by Kabuto. Sai’s supplies spill from the pack along
with a
sealed envelope. Orochimaru tells Kabuto not to be so rough
with
a kid who might become their subordinate from today. Kabuto
still
has his doubts, but Sai directs Orochimaru to look inside the sealed
envelope. After one look, Orochimaru orders Kabuto to release
Sai
because he will be returning with them. From the cover of the
forest, Yamato’s clone has witnessed the entire scene.
