MenuCHAPTER 284 - New Companions Tsunade is still in the meeting with the Konoha elders. While they insist on placing more restrictions on Naruto’s movements, Tsunade fervently opposes the idea. If Naruto was forced to stay inside the village walls, Akatsuki will know exactly where to look for him and a repeat of he incident with Gaara may occur. Tsunade believes by keeping Naruto busy on missions, he becomes a moving target. She truly believes in  Naruto’s
special ability to overcome all obstacles and one day grow up to be a
great power for Konoha. But the elders are not easily
convinced. If Akatsuki takes the Kyuubi from Naruto, they will become an even greater threat to Konoha.Tsunade loses her temper, but then recalls the incident when she entrusted her grandfather’s necklace to Naruto. At the time, Naruto had proclaimed to her that until he becomes Hokage, there’s no way he is going to die. Tsunade calms herself and tells the elders she trusts in Naruto and that he will not be taken by Akatsuki. She pledges that if her trust in Naruto is  mistaken,
she will put her own life on the line to protect Konoha. The
elders concede to Tsunade on the condition that they will choose one of
the members for the four-man team Naruto will be assigned to. At
their request, a man named Danzou enters the room. He is the same one
armed man who appeared at the end of chapter 281. Tsunade recognizes the individual and surmises the new member must be from the “Root” division of ANBU.
Naruto is locked in battle with Sai on a rooftop. Sai
jumps back but suddenly notices one of Shikamaru’s shadow strands
sneaking up on him. He evades by leaping into the air and tells
Naruto they will meet again soon. Before Naruto can go after him,
Sai uses a ninjustu to escape. While Shikamaru, Naruto and Choji
are still wandering why they were attacked, Ino makes her appearance
for the first time. She came looking for Choji because they were
supposed to go on a mission  with
Asuma. . Ino notices Naruto and cheerfully greets him, unaware of
what had just happened. Choji explains that some weird guy
attacked them. Shikamaru, sensing the danger is over, tells Choji
to let it go.While Kakashi will be recuperating during the next mission, a new leader will need to be selected for Naruto’s team. Since time is short, the elders and Danzou suggested that Tsunade select the leader from the elite ranks of ANBU. A short 
period after the meeting’s conclusion, in her office Tsunade
explains the situation to an ANBU member she had personally
selected. Since this would be a regular mission, Tsunade explains
to the individual that he will not need to conceal his face and will be
assigned the codename of “Yamato.” Tsunade informs
Yamato to keep an eye on the Root member assigned to the team on
Danzou’s recommendation. Danzou has strong militaristic
views and had previously opposed  the
late Sandaime (Third Hokage) who favored diplomacy over military
power. Under his leadership, Danzou created a training division
of Konoha’s ANBU called “Root.” Although Root has
been disbanded, Tsunade suspects Danzou may still have ulterior motives
and the loyalty of former Root members.
A short time later, Yamato has gathered all the members of
the new Team Kakashi. Naruto is shocked to see Sai as one of the
replacement members. Yamato tries to calmly introduce everyone,
but things are heating up already. Sai puts on a smile and
explains to Naruto he attacked him to gauge his abilities, but then
adds that he needed to know just how much he would have to look after a
little prick with no balls. Naruto gets mad, but Sakura restrains
him and tells Sai he is not being very nice with his words. Sai
laughs and tells Sakura he likes friendly hags like herself. This
time Sakura blows her top and Yamato has to step in to hold her back.
