CHAPTER 281 - The Way to Sasuke

Shizune reports to Tsunade    At the Hidden Village of the Leaf, Shizune gives Tsunade a report on the outcome of Team Kakashi and Team Gai’s mission inside her office.  Because of Chiyo’s act of self-sacrifice, the mission to save Gaara was successful and both teams are expected to return to Konoha in three days.  Before leaving, Shizune questions Tsunade on her decision to send Saying farewell to ChiyoNaruto as part of the mission to stop Akatsuki when he is one of the Jinchuuriki they seek to capture.  Tsunade’s reply is that she sent Naruto because she knew that the only person who can truly understand a Jinchuuriki is a fellow Jinchuuriki.  Furthermore, Naruto seems to possesses a power that causes everyone to believe in him.

    Before leaving the Village of the Sand, Naruto, Sakura and the others make one last visit to the site of Chiyo’s grave.  Gaara, Temari and Kankuro see them off at the gates to the village.  Unexpectedly, Gaara offers to shake Naruto’sGaara offers his hand hand.  Initially Naruto feels a bit embarrassed, but a thin shroud of sand tugging at his hand shows the sincerity behind Gaara’s gesture (note: this also may be a clue that Gaara hasn’t lost his ability to control sand).   Naruto accepts this act of friendship and leaves for Konoha afterwards.

    Because Kakashi pushed himself to his limit using the Mangekyou Sharingan, Gai has to support him with his shoulder on their journey back.  Since they are slowing everyone down, Gai decides they should switch to a more efficient position.  Everyone is at a loss for words upon seeing the two grown men in an awkward piggyback posture.  Gai goes training crazy and challenges everyone to try to keep up as he dashes offKakashi and Gai piggback formation carrying Kakashi on his back.  Sakura notes that they look even more intimate when they're moving.  Only Rock Lee takes up the challenge and asks Neji to ride on his back, to which Neji immediately rejects.

    In the forest where Deidara’s clone self-destructed, Tobi and Zetsu search through his scattered remains for Deidara’sTobi greets Deidara ring.  Tobi finds Deidara's severed arm and is about to retrieve the ring when the owner appears.  Zetsu asks Deidara about his mission, but Deidara doesn’t want to discuss it.  But Tobi Wrong, death by asphyxiationinsists on rubbing Deidara’s failure in his face and gets on his nerves.  Deidara threatens Tobi that if he says another word he’ll set a cause of death for him.  Humorously, Tobi comments it will likely be death by explosion.  Deidara proves him wrong by choking him with his legs.

    In a large complex inside Konoha, an old man with only one arm walks down a platform to meet one of his subordinates.  He tells theFrom now on, your name is Sai young man that he will be assigned to Team Kakashi and that his name will be Sai from that day on until his mission is complete.   Although Sai is the same age as Naruto, he is supposedly stronger than anyone of his generation in Konoha.  Sai accepts his mission with a wide smile, but the old man tells him not to use such a fake expression in front of him.  Sai replies that he is only doing what the manual said to do.  He admits he is unable to make such facial expressions naturally.
