With all members gathered, the Akatsuki leader begins the
extraction ritual for extracting Shukaku from Gaara. The full process
will take three days, but some members think it may take longer
because Orochimaru betrayed and left Akatsuki. One of the members,
Zetsu is ordered use his physical body as a lookout while the
extraction is performed. The stone statue’s mouth opens as the
Akatsuki leader performs the seals for the jutsu called Nine
Illusionary Dragon Consuming Seals. A group of nine dragons emerge from
the mouth of the statue and simultaneously strike Gaara’s
unconscious body with a large explosion.
As Team Guy is hurrying towards Sand, they are stopped by Pakkun,
one of Kakshi’s nin-dogs with the ability to speak. Kakashi had
sent all eight of his nin-dogs to split up and search for the two
Akatsuki members who took Gaara. They picked up the scent and found
that they were heading toward River Country, which is between Leaf and
Sand Country. Since Team Guy is closest, Pakkun suggests they intercept
the Akatsuki members first.
Zetsu, with his ability to merge with his surroundings,
eavesdrops on Team Guy while remaining undetected (even with Negi and
his Byakuan present). He instantly relays the information to the other
Akatuki members at the hideout. Upon hearing the identity of their
approaching enemies, Itachi cautions the others that Guy is a powerful
taijutsu user who is not to be underestimated. But this only seems to
excite some of the other members. In the end, Kisame is selected
because he
has the largest amount of chakra amongst the members of Akatsuki. He
gladly accepts because Guy delivered a painful kick to him during their
last encounter and Kisame wants payback.  A large shockwave stops Team Guy in their tracks as they cross over rocky terrain. The ground shifts under
the shockwave causing the Konoha shinobi to lose balance. Emerging from
the dust and smoke is Kisame. Guy stares at their new enemy, but after
a long pause, he reveals that he can’t recall who Kisame is.
