Sakura uses Sasori’s poison which she extracted
from Kankurou to
prepare three antidotes using the rare tomoshirisou plant provided by
the Sand. Kankourou recovers from the effects of the posion but his
body is still suffering partly from paralysis. Baki informs Kakashi
that they have
lost track of the attackers from Akatsuki since Kankurou was
alone when he confronted them. But it seems Kankurou’s battle
was not a total failure because he managed to rip off a  piece of Sasori’s clothing during their
struggle. Kakashi will be able to track the two Akatsuki members using
his nin-dogs based on the scent from the torn cloth.As Kankurou regains more of his strength, his realizes Naruto was also 
present. He remembers how Gaara’s encounter with Naruto had
changed his outlook on life. Kankurou asks Naruto to once again save
his brother Gaara. Naruto promises Kankurou and jokingly mentions that
since he will be Hokage one day, the Kazekage will now owe him a favor.Chiyo unlocks a large chest in her puppet workshop and takes the two summoning scrolls held inside. She tells Ebizo that there is nothing better to fight Sasori than with these. On the outskirts of the Sand Village, Temari  wishes to join Team Kakashi to pursue Akatsuki
but Chiyo orders her to protect the Sand’s borders since they
are currently weak without a Kazekage. Chiyo herself instead joins
Kakashi, Naruto and Sakura, and states she has waited a long time to
give her dear grandson some ‘love.’ Deidara and Sasori arrive at a large cavern sealed by a massive boulder. They are allowed allowed to enter and are greeted by the shadowy projection of the leader of Akatsuki. Deidara apologizes for being late since Gaara was stronger than he had anticipated. The leader  performs seals to summon an enormous stone statue of a
blindfolded creature with both hands raised before itself. Besides
Deidara and Sasori, all other Akatsuki members appear as shadow
projections. They each assemble on top of their respective digit on the
hands of the statue. When all are in place, the leader signals for them
to begin the ritual to extract Shukaku from Gaara.
