 CHAPTER 253 - Reliable Reinforcements

Tsunade forsees danger    In Konoha, Tsunade notices she has won the lottery for that week. With her pertetual bad luck, this can only be a bad omen for things to come. Fearing the worst, she requests Chizune to assemble another team to back up Kakashi’s mission to the Sand.
Chiyo cannot cure Kankurou
    In the Sand Village, Chiyo examines Kankurou but says that even though she is poison specialist, her grandson Sasori has developed poisons that are even beyond her knowledge. She mentions that the only person who has a chance of making an antidote for Kankurou is Konoha’s Tsunade. Chiyo detests the idea of seeking help from Konoha, especially because Tsunade (Chiyo refers to her as “that Slug woman”) embarrassed her in the last great war by immediately concocting antidotes to even Chiyo’s best posions. Besides, it is three days travel between Leaf and Sand, even if Tsunade were to come it would be too late for Kankurou.
Hurry
Sakura to the rescue    Naruto and the others reach the Sand after over two days of hard travel. Temari is shocked by the news that her brother Kankurou has only half a day to live before the poison takes him. Sakura assures Temari that she will examine Kankurou immediately. They rushNaruto stops Chiyo to Kankurou’s hospital room, but Chiyo mistakes Kakashi for the White Fang of Konoha (Kakashi’s father) and attacks him. Naruto blocks Chiyo’s attacks with the help of a bushin (shadow clone). The White Fang apparently had done something to her son in the last war, so Chiyo wants revenge. Chiyo’s brother, Ebizo calms her down by pointing out that although Kakashi bares a strong resemblance, he is not the White Fang.
Sakura removing the poison
    With the interruption over, Sakura hurry’s to extract Sasori’s poison from Kankurou’s body. She is successful and asks for the needed ingredients to make an antidote for the small amounts of posion still left in Kankurou’s body. Chiyo comments on how similar Sakura’s is to Tsunade and is surprised to hear that Tsunade was the one who ordered Sakura to come to Sand.


    Meanwhile in Konoha, Might Guy, Rock Lee, Tenten and Neji Hyuga have been assembled. They leave immediately for Sand in order to support Team Kakashi’s mission.
