MenuCHAPTER 243 - Kakashi Gaiden Part 5: Present 
Obito is as surprised as Kakashi is now that he has finally
activated his Sharingan ability. He notes that he can now clearly
see the flow and movement of chakra. A sharp pain in
Kakashi’s injured eye causes him to flinch. He pulls out
the emergency medical pack he got from Rin and tells Obito to help
treat his eye quickly because they need to go after Rin.
Inside the cave, the last Rock ninja is still performing
genjutsu on Rin, but discovers that she is unexpectedly stubborn.
Suddenly, Obito and Kakashi appear behind him. The Rock ninja
gets up to face them and comments on how useless his teammates
are. Obito uses his Sharingan to see that Rin has
irregular chakra flow. Kakashi surmises she has been put under
genjutsu in order to get information out of her. The Rock ninja
comments that Kakashi and Obito don’t seem like just ordinary
brats and prepares to engage them. Kakashi warns Obito that their
opponent has high speed as both of them get ready to fight. The Rock ninja extends his arm blades as Kakashi and Obito charge in. They clash in a flurry of metallic strikes. With his Shringan activated, Obito is able to avoid a blade swipe at his head. Kakashi leaps above to attempt to cut down their enemy quickly,  but
the Rock ninja is fast enough to react in time to pull his blades in to
intercept Kakashi. But at the last second, Obito kicks both of
his feet up to block the Rock ninja’s arms, leaving him
completely vulnerable to Kakashi’s oncoming attack. Kakashi
cuts the enemy deeply into his shoulder, and causes him to drop to the
floor.
Believing their opponent to be defeated, Kakashi and Obito
proceed to release Rin from the genjutsu. Rin smiles as Obito and
Kakashi enthusiastically tell her that they came to rescue  her.
Kakashi recommends they get out of there fast, but the Rock ninja they
thought they had killed gets back to his feet and blocks the
exit. He tells them he had underestimated their abilities, but
now they are in his hands. He activates an Earth element jutsu
called Rock Lodgement Destruction to cause the ceiling of the cave to
cave-in. The three Konoha ninja make a run for it, but a falling
rock hits Kakashi in his blind spot
(near his injured eye) and knocks him out. Obito goes back to
grab him, but realizes that there’s no time to avoid the boulders
falling down on them. Selflessly, Obito tosses Kakashi to safety
just before the boulders fall on them.Outside the collapsed cave, the Rock ninja looks back on his handiwork. Although he has lost three sources of information on the enemy, he tells himself that he had no choice but to kill them. Inside the collapsed cave, Kakashi has regained consciousness to discover that while he and Rin are safe, the entire right  side
of Obito’s body has been crushed by an immense boulder.
Kakashi tries but is unable to budge the huge rock. Obito is
still conscious and tells Kakashi to stop. He says he has no
feeling left on the right side of his body and knows it is over for
him. Even with her medical ninjutsu, Rin can do nothing to save
Obito. Kakashi slams his fist on the ground and
blames himself for being such a failure of a jonin and commander.
Kakashi believes that if he had just gone with Obito’s plan to
rescue Rin from the beginning, this wouldn’t have happened.Although he has a hard time speaking, Obito tells Kakashi to stop blaming himself. He mentions to Kakashi that he was the only one who didn’t give him a present at his Jonin celebration. But now Obito has come up with the perfect present and assures Kakashi that’s it won’t be “useless baggage.” Obito offers the Sharingan in his left eye. Obito knows the people of Konoha already see Kakashi as a great Jonin. Obito believes it too, and so offers his Sharingan to Kakashi to help him become even stronger. 
Obito asks Rin to use her medical ninjutsu to implant his left
eye to replace Kakashi’s injured one. Rin wipes away her
tears and asks Kakashi to come over so they can get started
quickly. Kakashi is hesitant but Obito says that even though he
is about to die, by becoming Kakashi’s left eye he will be able
to see the future.Moments later, a sudden explosion from the collapsed cave surprises the Rock ninja standing outside. He sees Kakashi appear from the smoke and calls him subborn for still being alive. He notices tears running down Kakashi’s closed left eye and calls him a crybaby because shinobi don’t cry. Kakashi says nothing but opens his left eye to reveal the Sharingan.
