029 - Someone Precious to You
Naruto lunges at Haku. All Haku could do is think about how sorry he is
for failing Zabuza. He doesn't even try dodging Naruto's punch.
Naruto sees Haku's face and stops immediately. He asks Haku about the
time he saw him in
the forest. Haku wants to know why Naruto stopped, and reminds him
that he killed Sasuke. Infuriated, Naruto knocks Haku
backwards with a hard punch, but the strength of the Kyuubi has
vanished.
Haku asks Naruto about that killer intent he had from before and tells
him he will never
kill him like this. Haku explains that this is a grave mistake that
many make, showing their enemy pity. He says that having one's
life spared like that is a horrible, meaningless existence. Naruto is
confused. Haku explains that Zabuza doesn't want weak shinobi, and that
after this battle, will no longer have use for him anymore.
Naruto can't
believe that a criminal like Zabuza is the only important person to
Haku.
 Haku tells Naruto
that in the past, he had
parents who were very
important to him. In his snowy childhood village in the Country of the
Mist, he and his parents lived happily. But when he grew up, something
happened. His father killed his mother, then tried to kill him. Haku
explained that the Country of the Mist had horrible civil wars, and
people with bloodline limits like himself were hated. The people with
special blood were used as weapons in war, and therefore blamed for
most of the misfortune that came with it.
 After the war, anyone
with a bloodline limit had
to hide it, or they
would be killed. Haku then shows sympathy for Sasuke, realizing that he
too must have been feared in his youth. Haku's mother had the bloodline
limit, and when his father found out, he killed her. When his father
went after him, Haku killed his own dad out of fear when his bloodline
limit activated. Haku knew he was a
monster, and realized that in this world, he was completely unwanted.
Naruto realizes the similarities he shares with
Haku. He too was
completely unwanted as a child. Haku reminds Naruto of his dream to
become the strongest shinobi in his village; to be acknowledged. He
asks if someone acknowledged him when he was at the very bottom,
wouldn't
that person be the most important to him? Zabuza became that person for
Haku because he desired the blood which everyone else hated.
Haku remembers the day Zabuza took him in. After
growing up under his care, Zabuza one day explained to him that they
must leave their home country. But he added that one day they
would return, and
 Zabuza would take over. Haku was happy to
serve as a tool, a weapon,
for Zabuza.
He apologizes to Zabuza for failing him one last time, then asks Naruto
to kill him.
 Back at the other end
of the bridge, Kakashi
performs some hand seals
with the scroll in his
hands. He then slams the ground with both palms and shouts "Earth
Tracking Fang No Jutsu." Zabuza tells Kakashi it is hopeless because he
can't
see him, on the other hand Kakashi is completely exposed. All of a
sudden Zabuza is hit by
something. A pack of dogs attack Zabuza from out of the ground. Kakashi
explains that if eyes and ears don't work, then use your nose. The dogs
bite down on Zabuza's limbs and body, immobilizing him.
Kakashi explains that
he let his blood be spilled
by Zabuza twice for this very
reason. Because Zabuza's weapons were
soaked in Kakashi's blood, his dogs could find him immediately. Kakashi
calls them his cute "nin dogs" and explains that have a highly adept
sense of smell, above that of any regular
dog. Zabuza is now the one who is trapped. For the second
time, Kakashi tells him
his future is death.
