Prelude:
Lured by Orochimaru’s promise of power, Sasuke journeys alone for the final stretch towards Orochimaru’s secret lair.  When Naruto finally catches up to Sasuke near a waterfall called the Valley of the End, he is ready to drag Sasuke back to Konoha even by force if necessary.  But soon Naruto discovers that he is no match for the combination of Sasuke’s Sharingan and the power of Orochimaru’s Cursed Seal.  With Sasuke fully intending on killing him, Naruto realizes that in order to save Sasuke, he must put his own life on the line.

The Battle:

In the initial fighting, Naruto is severely outmatched by Sasuke, whose skills and powers have been enhanced by the Cursed Seal.  At this point, Naruto is not aware that Sasuke intends on killing him.  During their last encounter, Itachi Uchiha advised Sasuke that the first step to obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan was to murder his best friend.

After punishing Naruto with various Fire Element techniques, Sasuke attacks Naruto with Chidori.  Naruto is able to neutralize the first Chidori with his Rasengan, and finally comes to terms with Sasuke’s deadly intentions.  With only one Chidori left before reaching his limit, Sasuke sets out to immobilize Naruto before using the technique again.  By using the power from his Level One Cursed Seal, Sasuke overpowers Naruto and impales him through the right shoulder with his second Chidori.

Naruto had hanged on the hope that their friendship will prevail, but Sasuke’s last attack erased those feelings and pushes Naruto over the edge.  Kyuubi’s red chakra pours forth and Naruto video clip envelopes Naruto, instantly healing his wounds. Using the enhanced speed and power given by Kyuubi’s chakra, Naruto launches a counterattack against Sasuke, declaring that he will stop Sasuke even if he has to break his arms and legs.  In response, Sasuke finally acknowledges him as an equal by putting on his Konoha headband.  During the midst of Naruto’s assault, Sasuke’s Sharingan eyes fully mature, allowing him to read all of Naruto’s moves even at their enhanced speed.

Naruto video clip     In his counterattacks, Sasuke inflicts major damage to Naruto, knocking him unconscious.  With his host knocked out, Kyuubi decides to take the battle into his own hands.  Naruto undergoes the most advanced form of the Kyuubi transformation yet and resembles a miniature demon fox.  With Kyuubi’s chakra enveloping his entire body, Naruto is no longer in full control of his actions and goes into a berserker rage against Sasuke.  Sasuke’s Sharingan eyes can no longer track Naruto’s attacks because the Kyuubi chakra moves like it has a mind of its own.

Naruto video clip    Facing such tremendous power, Sasuke has no choice but to use his last trick and release his Level Two Cursed Seal.  In this state, Sasuke’s skin and hair turn gray and two enormous wings that resemble monstrous hands jut out from his back.  Neither Naruto nor Sasuke can maintain their new transformed states for very long, so each prepares for one final attack to end it all.  Chidori and Rasengan clash against one another one final time, this time sinisterly powered by Orochimaru's Cursed Seal and Kyuubi’s chakra.  When the two collide, Naruto manages to leave a scratch on Sasuke’s headband, but it is Sasuke who mortally wounds Naruto.  In the final moments, Sasuke decides to defy Itachi’s advice and not finish off Naruto.  Leaving behind his Konoha headband, Sasuke disappears into the rain.
