The job of training Naruto and
Sora is pushed onto Asuma by Yamato. Asuma gives the boys
advise on manipulating Wind chakra and observes that Sora has an
unusually large amount chakra reserve just like Naruto.
Yamato reports to Tsunade and reads a scroll sent
by Chiriku explaining Sora's past. Sora was sent to the Fire Temple at
a young age and trained with the other monks. But during one
incident, Sora lost control of himself and reduced most of the Temple
to rubble while injuring many monks. Although this never
happened again, the other monks who remember that night still see Sora
as a monster.
After they've finished training, Asuma treats
Naruto and Sora to some ramen. He then takes Sora to a
weapons shop and gives him a newly made metal claw made from the same
chakra channeling metal as his trench knives. In a way, Asuma
is silently trying to atone for killing Sora's father, Kazuma, who
became a rebel Shinobi Guardsman.
As Sora wanders the streets of Konoha, he
encounters Furido who tells him that Asuma is the murderer of his
father.
