Konoha is devastated, it has just been rocked by the news of the death of the 2 remaining sanin, both killed by the same ninja. After hearing about the death of Jairiya, Tsunade the 5^th is furious and itching for revenge. Against the advise of the elders and Shisune she leaves the village. Her motives are clear and her instructions clearer if she fails Kakashi Hatake should succeed her. She rushes off the message from Jairiya fresh in her mind and knowing the true identity of who she is looking for, she formulates a strategy. Her battle with Pein is long and bloody but in the end is futile.

    Word reaches Konoha of the 5^ths demise just as team Kakashi returns from another mission to find Sasuke’s whereabouts. As they get the news Naruto begins to lose it but remembers Yamato’s words and tries to calm down. He decides to leave everyone to be alone for a bit. He goes to the river where he first mastered walking on water and summoning a toad. Back at the village elders tell Kakashi the news that he is to be the 6^th Kage of the village, Kakashi is about to refuse but is told that this was the wish of the 5^th and must be done quickly to secure the village and its future.

    A memorial service for both sanin is held, but there is no sign of Naruto, near to the paying of respects he appears and swears to their memory to avenge their deaths, “you lives will not be lost in vain!” He does not tarry but returns to the spot he was before.

    While there he considers all the things Jairiya and Tsunade had done for him and the bonds he had formed, at the waters edge he sees a toad but there is something different about this toad, it looks more like a cylinder or a rolled up scroll rather than a toad. The toad tells him that Jariya sent him and that there is much he must show him and not enough time.

    The toad lays everything down to Naruto; who his parents were, the reason for sealing the fox in him, Jairiya being his God-parent and everything related to that. HE tells him that for him to survive the upcoming battle he must master the a jutsu that now only he can master being the 4^th son. Naruto asks whats this jutsu, he’s told that it’s a special ability a bloodline trait a kekkei genkai. Naruto is shocked and can’t believe that he has something similar to sasuke the toad corrects him and says its not like sasuke’s it if far more dangerous in comparison. Its more dangerous because with his bloodline trait he can merge the chakra of the fox with his own, with that; the toad becomes a scroll and Naruto begins to read the whole thing. He struggles day after day to perform the jutsu but fails but with every failure he comes closer to perfecting the jutsu.

    No one has seen Naruto for a month now, Sakura is with Kakashi the new Hokage and is wondering where he could be, Kakashi looks at the wind and says that he’s safe and still in the village, before he can finish his statement a huge shockwave of energy engulfs the whole village and begins to affect the atmosphere as well. The energy is so intense even ninja from the sand village begin to detect the change. Gaara looks up from his desk and knows its Naruto but wonders what sort of incredible energy that could be. At Konoha things are settling after that massive shockwave in the midst of the dust is a glowing orb of energy emerging from it is Naruto Uzamaki.
    His whole appearance is different as his eyes are far from human and his senses have all heightened. In an instant he appears before Kakashi and asks for a team to go after the S-Rank ninja Pein and recover Sasuke, Kakashi is uncertain as he’d be giving the nine tails to Akatsuki but the look in Naruto’s eyes convinces him to let him go. He orders Naruto to assemble a team. Naruto wastes no time he chooses Shika for his tactical skill, Neiji for his sight, Kiba and Akamaru for their Taijutsu and Ino and Sakura to be medical nin to which Kakashi add Yamato as an insurance policy incase Naruto loses it. Naruto instinctively knows the coming battle will not be easy as Pein single handedly killed two sanin and to retrieve Sasuke from the clutches of the rest of Akatsuki.
