Inari was a crybaby before he met Naruto. His father died while he was young, but he gained a new father figure in Kaiza after he saved him from drowning. His spirit was shattered when Kaiza was tortured and killed by Gato’s men to set an example to the rest of the villagers. Inari had stopped believing in heroes until he met Naruto. When Gato’s bodyguards came to kidnap his mother, Inari charged after them because he wanted to protect his mom with his own strength. Fortunately, Naruto showed up and defeated Zori and Waraji before they could harm Inari. Afterwards, Inari and his mother gathered up the villagers and helped Team Kakashi drive off the remainder of Gato’s men.
