Biography:
Sakumo Hatake, also known as the White Fang of Konoha, was Kakashi Hatake’s
late father and one of the most well known shinobi in Konoha’s
history. Although no details of his abilities have been given, it
is known that he was a genius in combat and ninjutsu ,rivalling even
those of Konoha’s Three Sannin. During the Great Ninja
Wars, Sakumo led many successful missions on behalf of Konoha.
However, during one crucial mission, Sakumo was faced with the
difficult decision of either saving the lives of his comrades rather or
completing the mission. Sakumo chose to save his teammates, and
in doing so broke one of the golden rules of the shinobi which is to
place the success of the mission above all else. Sakumo’s
failure cost Konoha countless losses afterwards and Sakumo was
dishonoured by those who used to praise his name. He fell into a
depression and eventually committed suicide. Because of his
father’s acts, the young Kakashi decided to live strictly by the
shinobi code, that is until the events of Kakashi Gaiden.
