Rin was a medical nin who was a teammate to Kakashi Hatake and Obito Uchiha under the command of Minato Namikaze who at the time was not yet Konoha's Fourth Hokage. Rin was first introduced in the Kakashi Gaiden manga story arc which took place during the Great Ninja War. She had a calm and good-natured personality and was often the one to keep Kakashi and Obito in check when they started arguing and keep the team together. She had a crush on Kakashi but it is not know if she ever revealed it to him.

Rin was likely a highly skilled medical nin because Obito had mentioned that she had saved his and Kakashi's lives countless times on their missions together. Rin also has a strong resistance to genjutsu as she was able to withstand hours of interogation from a Rock ninja while captured. Most impressively, Rin was also able to successfully transplant Obito's Sharingan into Kakashi's eye socket while in the field; such a thing has never been heard of before especially since Kakashi is not from the Uchiha clan.

It is not known what happened to Rin after the events of Kakashi Gaiden.
