Biography: Zetsu is a more
mysterious member of Akatsuki whose background remains
unclear. Zetsu does not wear a head protector but it is
believed he is a missing nin from Kusagakure, the Hidden Village in the
Grass. The venus-flytrap structure of his body supports this
notion as most ninja from Kusagakure have abilities associated with
nature or plant life.

The black and white divide of Zetsu’s
face is more than just decoration. Zetsu actually possesses
two personalities that exist at the same time, meaning he can have a
conversation with himself. The black side of his face has
metal studs similar to Pein’s,
its personality seems to be
more sinister, but it has also proven itself to be highly knowledgeable
about jutsus and even bloodline abilities like the Sharingan.
The white side is the exact opposite and is more easy going and
carefree.
Zetsu’s main role in Akatsuki is to act
as long range reconnaissance and provide espionage/infiltration
support. He can do this quite effectively by melding in with
his surroundings and concealing his chakra. Lastly, one of
his more gruesome roles is to clean-up the evidence of dead bodies
associated with Akatsuki. Zetsu does this by consuming the
entire body, making him a cannibal.
Abilities and
Jutsus:
Kagerou (Ninjutsu) Translated as Mayfly; Zetsu is best recognized for his
ability to meld seamlessly with his surroungs and become nearly
undetectable.
Cannibal (Special) Zetsu has the gruesome task of
eliminating the bodies of dead enemies or Akatsuki members in order to
eliminate all traces of their operations. Zetsu personally consumes the
bodies until not even a scrap remains..
Body Splitting (Special) Zestu has the ability to split his body
in two, the dark and light halves. Each half is capable of
operating on its own independent of the other.
Houshi no Jutsu (Ninjutsu)
Houshi no Jutsu or spore technique allows Zetsu to plant spores on the
bodies of his enemies and trigger them to spontaneously grow and
immobilize the enemy. The spores also drain chakra from the enemy
and can transfer them to an ally. Houshi no Jutsu can be used as a time
delay jutsu.
