| Biography: Itachi was once considered the prodigy of the Uchiha clan. He had mastered the Sharigan at age 8 and became a Chuunin at age 10. By age 13, Itachi had joined Konoha’s ANBU and became a team leader. Itachi’s father, Fugaku Uchiha, was proud of him and aimed to get Itachi to the top of the Uchiha clan. But in doing so,  he often neglected
his other son, Sasuke.
Living under the shadow of Itachi made
Sasuke’s own progress seem insignificant, but nonetheless
Sasuke looked up to his older brother and trained hard to become more
like him. Itachi often helped Sasuke in his training, but
wished his father would give more attention to Sasuke.Itachi always had a calm personality, if not somewhat lacking in emotions, but nobody could gave guessed the evils he was truly capable of. Itachi begin to grow  more
distant
from his father and neglected his duties as an ANBU
member. Furthermore, there were growing suspicions
that Itachi was behind the
apparent suicide of Shisui Uchiha, one of his closest friends. Then one
night, Itachi did the unthinkable and single-handedly murdered the
entire Uchiha clan in Konoha. The only member he spared was
Sasuke, who witnessed him killing their parents in cold blood. When
asked why he did it, Itachi's response was that he had to "test his own
ability." Itachi
had gained the power of Mangekyou Sharigan, an ability he revealed to
Sasuke as only achievable if he killed his closest friend.
Before leaving Konoha, he tells Sasuke to live a life of hatred so he
can become strong enough to kill him and avenge the Uchiha clan.
Itachi is an efficient fighter in battle, and usually relies on his genjutsu abilities instead of mounting physical attacks. He is highly intelligent, shows little emotion, and is ruthless in battle; caring little for the suffering of his opponents. Itachi’s genjutsu abilities are some of the most powerful encountered so far in the Naruto series. Once caught, it is nearly impossible for the enemy to free himself unless aided by allies.
